NCERT Grade 9 Chapter 12, Heron’s Formula.
Heron was born in about 10AD possibly in Alexandria
in Egypt. He worked in applied mathematics. His works
on mathematical and physical subjects are so numerous
and varied that he is considered to be an encyclopedic
writer in these fields. His geometrical works deal largely
with problems on mensuration written in three books.
Book I deals with the area of squares, rectangles,
triangles, trapezoids (trapezia), various other specialised
quadrilaterals, the regular polygons, circles, surfaces of
cylinders, cones, spheres etc. In this book, Heron has
derived the famous formula for the area of a triangle in
terms of its three sides
Spontaneous imbibition has long been known to have significant role in recovering oil from low permeability fractured reservoirs. Though the fundamental theory of capillarity is known for about a century by the works of Hagen Poiseuille and then by Lucas and Washburn they do not entirely describe the phenomena. The capillary action at early times i.e. in the inertial regime and the dynamics for interacting capillaries remain unexplained. In the
present work, we report the numerical investigations using volume of fluid (VOF) model for the spontaneous imbibition in non-interacting and interacting capillaries. Capillaries with
radii 0.5 and 1 mm, length 100 mm were selected for studying the effect of non-interacting and interacting nature on the imbibition dynamics. The two interacting capillary cases were
with centre to centre distance of 1.25 and 1.485 mm. The interacting capillary model shows that if connectivity is more capillaries will behave as single capillary, but if connectivity is
less meniscus leads in smaller radii capillary. The study will help us in understanding the physics of flow in fractured reservoirs.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The Indian economy is classified into different sectors to simplify the analysis and understanding of economic activities. For Class 10, it's essential to grasp the sectors of the Indian economy, understand their characteristics, and recognize their importance. This guide will provide detailed notes on the Sectors of the Indian Economy Class 10, using specific long-tail keywords to enhance comprehension.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

Carbon Black Reactor Analysis Using Powerful Tool CFD

What is Carbon Black?
Carbon Black (CB) is a material produced by the incomplete combustion of heavy petroleum products such as FCC
(Fluid Catalytic Cracking) tar, coal tar, ethylene cracking tar, and a small amount of vegetable oil. It is a form of
amorphous carbon that has a high surface area to volume ratio majorly used as a pigment and reinforcement in
rubber and plastic products. CB is made in specially designed reactors operating at internal temperatures in the
range of 2600 F to 3600 F. Different grades of CB can be produced with varying aggregate siz e and structure and it
is these differences that allow CBs to be used in a variety of application.
Applicat ions of Carbon Black
CB is heavily used in manufacturing of rubber, plastics
and other products, the most common being (about
70%) as a pigment and reinforcing phase in
automobile tires. Carbon black also helps conduct
heat away from the tread and belt area of the tire,
reducing thermal damage and increasing tire life.
Carbon black particles are also employed in some
radar absorbent materials and in photocopiers and
laser printer toner, and other inks, paints also in
coloring of resins and films. It is also a common
material used for production of belts, hoses, and other
non- tire rubber goods.
How large is t he Carbon Black market ?
Total world production of carbon black was around 8,100,000 metric tons (8,900,000 short tons) in 2006. Worldwide
carbon black consumption is currently 9 million tonnes p.a.,expected to reach 13 million by 2015. Average global
growth will likely exceed 4% over the next five years, with China, India, and Central and Eastern Europe showing
much higher demand, while capacity will shift geographically to meet demand. Some of the big players in this field
are Philips Carbon Black, Sid Richardson Carbon Black Company, Continental Carbon Black Company and Birla
Carbon Black.
How is Carbon Black manuf act ured?
While there are several processes in which CB is made, among the common one is a furnace black process. In the
furnace black process aromatic oils (based on crude oil) or combustible gases are burned in a reactor, producing
carbon black and tail gas. After cooling, the CB is separated from tail gas, made more dense and processed into
pellets of varying grades/siz es. This process is currently the most widely used in the market.
Where does CFD come int o t he pict ure?
Use of Computational technology is required to maximiz e the efficiency of the CB manufacturing process as well to
2. reduce the environmental impact of CB production. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is used in the CB
manufacturing industry at various stages in the R&D cycle. CFD finds use in analyz ing or simulating the interaction of
liquids, gases and different surfaces within the manufacturing process inside the reactors. It is also used to model or
design auxiliary units like cooling jackets. CFD models have also been implemented to virtually visualiz e the
particulate siz es as well as combustion prior to introducing oil for CB production.

How is CFD employed f or design of CB react or?
The valuable information a CFD model provides can be utiliz ed to come up
with most efficient CB manufacturing process with minimiz ed environmental
effects
CFD is employed to study and model the entire temperature distribution prior
to introduction of combustion oils within the CB reactor. The application of CFD
process involves solving or modeling flow equations consisting of five
conservation equations of continuity, momentum and energy through a
pressed based solution approach. Radiation models are also employed
which consider radiation effects inside the high temperature process reactor. The combustion phenomenon is
captured using different forms of combustion modeling techniques like non premixed combustion model along with
chemical species modeling. Various commercial software have capabilities involving these above models and they
can be efficiently used if an engineer possess the modeling skills. Using virtual computational environment CFD can
help design engineers visualiz e velocity, pressure, temperature and chemical species distribution at various
locations and during different stages of CB manufacturing process. The valuable information a CFD model provides
can be utiliz ed to come up with most efficient CB manufacturing process with minimiz ed environmental effects.
