This dissertation proposal examines the knowledge, skills, and attributes needed for effective assistant principal leadership. It notes that the assistant principal role is under-researched and preparation does not adequately prepare individuals for principalship. The study will survey 371 assistant principals about their perceptions to address the research questions and add to the literature. Prior research found assistant principals focused more on management than instructional leadership. The proposal reviews leadership standards and theories, the assistant principal role, and preparation gaps to inform the survey design and analysis plan using statistical software. The results could improve assistant principal professional development and preparation for principal roles.
Influence of Inspirational Motivation on Teachers’ Job Commitment in Public P...inventionjournals
The purpose of this study was to establish the influence of inspirational motivation on teachers’ job commitment in public primary schools in Matinyani Sub County, Kitui County, Kenya. One research objective guided the study. The study employed descriptive survey design. The sample for the study was 25 head teachers and 169 teachers. Data was collected by use of questionnaires. Pearson product correlation coefficient was used to analyze the data. Findings revealed that there was a significant and positive relationship between inspirational motivation and teachers’ job commitment (r = .774, N = 160). Based on the findings, the study concluded that inspirational motivation increased teachers’ job commitment and thus head teachers should increase inspirational motivation which is a key to increasing teachers’ job commitment. The study suggested that comparable studies in other public primary schools should be carried out in other parts of the county to find out whether the findings can be generalized to the entire county. Secondly, since the study focused on one element of transformative leadership style, a study should be conducted to establish how other elements of transformational leadership styles influence teachers’ job commitment.

This study explored the association among Goal Orientation, Academic Self-efficacy, Academic Help-seeking Behaviour and Achievement on a sample of 600 secondary school students using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) for data analysis and to see the impact. Goal orientation is an outlook toward demonstrating ability in achievement situations. Academic Self-efficacy is a person's belief in his/her ability to succeed in an academic situation. Academic help-seeking behaviour is 'seeking others help' at the time when one faces difficulties or uncertainty in the course of his/her education in classroom. Achievement is the accomplishment or acquired proficiency in the performance of an individual with respect to a given knowledge or skill. Structural Equation Modeling is a powerful technique that can combine complex path models with latent variables.

The purpose of this study is to examine the interrelationship between individually guided professional development activities and the emergence of autonomous teachers. To gather the intended data, a questionnaire was administered with 60 EFL teachers working at school of foreign languages offour different state universities in Turkey. Subsequent to the administration of the questionnaire, a semi-structured interview was conducted with the participants on the purpose of gaining deeper insights into the types and effects of professional development activities they attended during the year 2014, and to what extent they perceive themselves autonomous with respect to their professional development. The findings revealed that even though the participants do not perceive themselves autonomous regarding their professional development, they think that there is a strong interconnection between individually guided professional development activities and the emergence of autonomous teachers.
One of the most important factors that positively influence the performance of lecturers is the motivation toward work, which determines the self-discipline to improve the professional skills, morale, work attitude, and the performance of lecturers. This paper was conducted with the main purpose is to find out job motivational factors affecting on performance of lecturers with the application of reliable model in the situation of economic and administration in Hanoi, Vietnam. By surveying 490 lecturers at universities in Hanoi, the research has shown the relationship of seven motivational factors to lecturers’ performance, of which the greatest impact is “assessment”, followed by “incentives”, “recognition”, “colleagues”, “superiors”, “working conditions”, and finally “works itself”. Finally, based on the results, the research has proposed suggestions to help policymakers develop programs and action targets that enhance the motivation and performance of the teaching staffs in universities; step by step improving the quality of higher education according to the goals that Vietnamese Party and State have set for the higher education sector these days.

i. Student engagement and performance are some of the leading problems that affect educators and institutional leaders. Numerous studies indicate that students should develop a sense of belonging for them to participate and improve their performance in school. However, there is still a dearth in knowledge on how transformational leadership can be leveraged to enhance student engagement and performance.
II. Many studies on student engagement only regard it as an indicator of academic attainment. These concepts are often premised on the idea that students who are disengaged or disaffected perform poorly. Nonetheless, low achievements can also cause students to withdraw from school.
III. There are many conditions that have been proposed as prerequisites for improved academic achievement. These often range from provision of learning resources to development of conducive learning climate.
IV. However, there is a paucity of knowledge on the impacts that leadership has on promoting learning behaviors in schools. In particular, not many studies have been conducted to investigate the effects of transformational leadership on academic achievement.

Abstract
This article examines the impact of three leadership styles as a predictor of job satisfaction in a
state university system. The Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire was used to identify the
leadership style of an administrator as perceived by faculty members. Spector’s Job Satisfaction
Survey was used to assess a faculty member’s level of job satisfaction. The population consisted
of 567 full-time faculty members, and 104 participants completed the survey. The results of
logistic regression analysis revealed that (a) faculty members who identified transformational
leadership as dominant had increased job satisfaction, (b) faculty members who identified
transactional leadership as dominant had increased job satisfaction, and (c) faculty members who
identified passive/avoidant leadership as dominant had decreased job satisfaction.
Demographics did not appear to predict satisfaction. Using this model, aca ...

ILA presentation on leadership as praxisEric Kaufman
Leadership scholars have called for public leadership research to go beyond the traditional case study method, yet there is limited guidance on how to enact such research. This session will highlight praxis-oriented leadership research, through the lens of Raelin’s (2019) leadership-as-practice (L-A-P) framework. We will draw upon insights from a multi-year cooperative agreement with the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), as they worked to restructure and enhance the organization’s leadership. Reflection upon the experience yields a more clear vision for public leadership research that embodies mutual learning, deep understanding, and collaborative action—for the betterment of all involved.
Management Role Performance Appraisal of State Elementary School Heads in Nor...ijtsrd
Management role performance appraisal is very essential to gauge the success and whereabouts of any organization. Using descriptive evaluative correlational method this study sought to determine the management role performance of state elementary school heads in the province of Northern Samar, Philippines. A total of 100 school heads and 300 teachers were selected as participants for this study. This study bank on Minstzberg’s management role conceptual categories, to wit interpersonal managing through people informational managing be information and decisional managing through action . Data revealed that the appraisals made by the school heads themselves and their teacher constituents are both outstanding. It can be noted however, that the appraisal rating performed by the teacher constituents is way higher than the self administered appraisals of the school heads. Leah A. De Asis | Brenfred N. Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

1. Assistant Principal Perceptions: Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes for Effective Leadership. Chapter 1-3 Dissertation Proposal Defense University of Houston January 21 ,2011 Lonnie Clint Vick Jr.
2. Introduction AP is the primary training ground for the Principalship (Madden, 2008) Important for AP’s to understand the requirements of the Principalship. Research indicates being an AP does not provide appropriate training (Fields 2000) AP forces individual to become leader and manager in environment where there is only one leader (Hartley, 2009)
3. Introduction Continued Bloom and Krovetz (2001) identified principal shortage as one of the reasons why AP is moved into principal position. Lack of research for Assistant Principal. AP is serving for short period of time and are assigned to a vary narrow range of responsibilities.
4. Problem Principal shortage Changes in expectation has created a shortage in knowledge of the position. Ineffective university training and unprepared for the role. Rapid advancement Least researched position in administration Assigned duties do not adequately prepare one for the role of principal
5. Problem Skills required to be successful for AP lean more toward management than leadership. Assistant Principal forces individual to be a manager and a leader in a relationship where there can only be one leader, the principal (Hartley, 2009) Shortage of knowledge concerning the skills (Barth, 1990)
6. Problem Institute for Educational Leadership (2000) Survey of Superintendents showed 50% reported a shortage of qualified candidates. Institute reported a rush to fill principal positions is why AP’s receive little or no experience or adequate preparation. During time a future principal spends as an assistant principal he or she is engaged in activities that offer little preparation for the kind of leadership expected of principals (Koru, 1993)
7. Purpose To add research to the field of Assistant Principal To answer the question of the needed knowledge, skills, and attributes truly needed to be an effective leader in the AP position and beyond. Using research make recommendations toward the improvement of the Assistant Principal for the changing 21st century.
8. Research Questions What is the perceived knowledge needed to be an effective assistant principal? What is the skills set needed to be an effective assistant principal? What are the attributes needed to be an effective assistant principal?
9. Significance of Study Focus in and determine the knowledge, skills, and attributes needed to be an effective assistant principal that aims to become a recognized instructional leader working to improve student academic performance. Add needed research to the field of assistant principal Improve professional development of the assistant principal position
10. Significance of the Study Lezotte (1992) stated an essential component to the effective school research is the presence of instructional leadership. First the AP has to prove to the Principal that they can stay afloat with management tasks. Secondly, the AP has to prove to the Principal that they are dedicated to school improvement through enhancements in instruction (Hartley, 2009)
11. Review of Literature Sections Leadership Standards (National, State) Important Knowledge of the Assistant Principal (role, responsibilities, curriculum, law) Important Skills of the Assistant Principal (Leadership, Theories, Management, Communication, and Interpersonal) Important Attributes Needed (Positive disposition, organization, Vision, ethics, values) Preparation for the Principalship Research studies on the Assistant Principal Summary
12. Standards National Leadership Policy Standards Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC, 2008) National Policy Board for Educational Administration. Wallace Foundation, 2010 State Standards
13. Role of Assistant Principal Decided by the Principal Student discipline, activities, and attendance looked at more than instruction Over time more management tasks handed down. New emphasis on Instruction Women seen more of an instructional leader and working with teachers.
14. Leadership versus Management Proactive vs. Reactive Communication Research on the topics Definitions Misalignment between perceived tasks of AP and what is needed.
15. Leadership versus Management Managers work closely with others and their effectiveness largely depends on their specialized knowledge and their interpersonal skills (Weller, 2002) AP is constantly bombarded with daily tasks, effectiveness in these situations require conflict management skills, good listening and communication skills, and ability to empathize and respect the opinions of others (Weller, 2002).
16. Leadership versus Management Leadership is communicating to people their worth and potential so clearly that they come to see it themselves (Covey, 2004). Covey goes on to explain that this type of Leadership is the one that influences and endures. A new type of leadership which involves less management and more motivation and coaching is known as level five executive leadership according to (Collins, 2001).
17. Theories This section will look at different theories on leadership and how they are applied to education and hopefully the role of the assistant principal. This will include comparison of supervision and evaluation Transformational Leadership is characterized as an change agent and is relevant to the current climate of schools, especially with the increased demands to do more with less (Gurr, 2000)
18. Transformational Leadership Technical – sound management Human - Interpersonal Educational – Knowledge needed Symbolic – modeling of desired behaviors Cultural – Values, belief systems
19. Preparation of the Principal Lack of training Duties performed as AP not adequately preparing AP’s for the Principal position Misalignment Succession Planning The opinion may be that assistant principals are trying to train teachers instructionally when they do not know what is happening in the classroom (Hartley, 2009) Assistant Principal is viewed as more of an asset outside of the classroom.
