CANARIE accelerates Canadian innovation, drives adoption of transformative technologies, and ensures Canada develops a vibrant knowledge economy. Cybersecurity is a growing and costly problem globally and in Canada, with well-publicized data breaches and advances in technology making the problem more complex. However, Canada can lead in cybersecurity through initiatives like SERENE, the Risc Smart Cybersecurity Network led by Université de Montréal, and the Ontario-Québec Cybersecurity R&D Challenge with public and private sector partners addressing challenges. CANARIE's Joint Security Project aims to develop a national view of cybersecurity across institutions connected to the National Research and Education Network through open-source monitoring, collaboration between participants, and identifying opportunities
