A new handwriting resource called Penpals at Home was published by Cambridge-Hitachi to help children ages 3 to 5 learn handwriting skills with confidence. The series includes two books and a free app that uses smartphone technology, such as scanning codes with a device to access additional content. The books and app aim to support parents in helping their children learn the style of handwriting used in schools through colorful exercises, letter formation introductions, and other tools that bring handwriting to life on screen.

series of two books designed for children
ages 3 to 5. Rich Westwood, Cambridge-
Hitachi general manager, said that Penpals
is a leading handwriting resource in UK
schools, and this is the first series designed
for parents to use with their children.

3.  “Handwriting is such an important skill that it
is vital that parents support children in
learning the style they are using at school,”
Westwood said in a press statement.
Developers at Cambridge-Hitachi have
created a new technology called “2D
code” that allows parents to scan images in
the books with a smartphone or tablet in
order to access additional content.

4.  Penpals at Home features a free app,
which "brings handwriting to life" and
allows children to copy the movements
of the pen on the screen. The books
provide colorful practice exercises, an
introduction to letter formation, and
other tools to help children develop their
handwriting.
