can use this organizational tool to set reminders for when to complete certain tasks,
put important meetings or assessments in a calendar, create to-do lists, and more. It’s
like a calendar, note organizer, list creator, and alarm clock all in one app. Cost: Free

AspirEdu - Educational Analytics to Identify your At-Risk Students Founded by educators

Store or App Store, you can find many free apps. This one, available on iOS only, has
good production value and no advertising. It discusses the emotions “happy,” “sad,”
“proud,” and “calm” using a short social story and a song.
Awesome Eats. From the Whole Foods Foundation, Awesome Eats teachings kids about
healthy eating, pattern recognition, and sorting, making it perfect for children ages 5-
10. Kids must sort fruits and veggies into baskets before the produce falls off the
conveyor belt and onto the floor, spoiled. After each level is defeated, the app flashes
facts about how to eat right.
Backchannel Chat – This site offers a teacher-moderated version of Twitter. An extension
of the in-the-moment conversation might be to capture the chat, create a tag cloud,

Bamboo offers book services that help kids practice active listening and listening

Biblionasium – This online, safe, and simple book network allows teachers to view books
students have read (a digital reading log), create reading challenges for students, and
track progress. Students also can review and recommend books to their peers on the
site.
Big Brain Academy: Big Brain Academy, a Nintendo DS game, asks players to take on a
number of different kinds of challenges which are timed. Essentially, it's a workout
for the brain, designed to challenge players of all ages.

virtual libraries within the game.
BoomWriter suitable for students of all ages. A great digital tool for collaborative writing.
BoomWriter is suitable for children of all ages but especially for the little ones who
are still reluctant to write. BoomWriter encourages students to write a story together
by voting for each person’s version of the story. To get an idea of the process, check

Brainiversity: This Windows-based game will help you and your kids keep your brains fit
and healthy by testing them through mental training sessions. Mini-games cover
language, memory, math, and analysis; all valuable skills to have in any academic
endeavor.
BrainPops BrainPop and BrainPop Jr. are apps that cover a wide variety of topics. Its science
videos might showcase the life cycle of plants, temperature, or hibernation (for
younger kids) or potential energy, metabolism, or Jane Goodall. Follow-up activities,

BrainQuest: Geared towards grades three and four, this game poses more than 6,000
questions to players. There's action as well as puzzles, and the two are combined in a
way that will make kids reluctant to put down the game.
Breathe, Think, Do with Sesame by Sesame Workshop. Available for iOS and Droid, and in
both English and Spanish, this app offers Interactive cartoons which teach how to deal
with frustration, separation anxiety, disappointment, impatience, and fear of the dark.
It suggests using a “breathe, think, and do” strategy — breath slowly three times,
think of a plan (three plans per problem are suggested), then do it.
Brickflow is an app where teachers and students can create presentations using content
collected from social media. By searching the web through hashtags, teachers and
students have the opportunity create a visual summary of a topic, building stories with
content from Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, etc. This can be a fun and
innovative way to spruce up classroom presentations and keep students up to date
with current events.
Bright Bytes provides a SaaS-based data analytics platform focusing on four basic
frameworks that measure the effects of technology in a school. Their analytics tool
lets you evaluate how teachers and students use technology for learning. It studies the
availability of devices and Internet access throughout the school and at home. It
measures the skill levels of teachers and students with multimedia. It evaluates the
school culture, professional development, and technology needs across the
organization.

communicate, and engage with classroom concepts and ideas.
ButterflyEduFields - DIY Science Projects for 8 to 13 Year Olds Butterfly Fields was

Center for News Literacy The flood of fake news, propaganda, rumors, and advertising that
often masquerade as news has made it harder than ever to separate fact from fiction.
News Literacy can help students of all ages recognize the differences between fact

accompaniment to history lessons.

internet, which can be modified and contain videos, audios, and interactive exercises.
It can also be printed and comply with the necessary editorial standards in each
region. The books that are created in cK-12 can be adapted to the needs of any teacher
or student.
ClassBadge is a working model assessment system for student learning. This system is based
on the idea of badges being awarded for skills demonstrated, accomplishments
achieved, and contributions made.

ClassCharts – allows teachers to produce instant seating plans, with an incredibly helpful
integration of pupils’ school pictures and data from SIMS. With just a few clicks,

Classcraft is a classroom management tool that uses gamification to boost student
engagement. One of its stronger aspects is its effect on class culture and student
behavior: It encourages cooperation, communication, and other social emotional
skills by rewarding these behaviors through its game aspects. The program truly
connects with children because it is built around an environment they know and are
passionate about: video games. Unlike the other apps in this list, Classcraft is a much
more in-depth management tool that also gamifies every aspect of the classroom to

teamwork.This system is great for teachers who want to use gaming principles to
develop collaboration, accountability, positive social interactions, and a healthy
culture in their classroom.
ClassDojo is a tool for teachers to quickly and easily improve classroom behavior. Teachers
are able to reward points to students for good behavior, which they receive in real-
time on their smart phones or laptops. This engages students in a new way, and
incentivizes good student behavior. Additionally, ClassDojo can track student
behavior, producing analytical reports, which can be shared with parents and
administrators.
ClassKick – This app allows teachers to post assignments for students, so both the teacher
and peers can provide feedback on the assignment. Students can monitor their
progress and work.
ClassMaker Through ClassMaker, teachers can create secure online quizzes and exams that

Clever is one the US most growing startup in Edtech right now. Providing a single sign-on
tool to students and teachers in order to navigate between all software and learning
resources (among other products), Clever recently launched Goals.First, Goals tool
lets teachers set objectives for each of their students like activities to do, resources to
use and so on. Then, it lets professors track the progress of their students with
accuracy (students can follow their progress too). Although data analytics with Clever
don't go as far as Yet analytics, for example, it is still a very interesting solution to
assist students in their learning process and to check their personal engagement with
learning resources.

platform for introducing kids to programming by showing them how to build their
own Minecraft mods.
Coggle A mind-mapping tool designed to understand student thinking.
CollaborizeClassroom This is a great tool for supporting teacher’s in-class instruction or
helping their flipped classrooms be successful. This free online platform allows
teachers to quickly launch a personalized learning site that addresses student concerns
outside of the classroom, leaving students more prepared for in-class activities.
Collaborize Classroom encourages students to help each other through problems with
the guidance of their instructors, and provides teachers with instant access to lesson
plans and project ideas to implement into the classroom. Additionally, this platform
gives teachers the ability to better identify and accommodate different learning styles
by incorporating visual and audio into their lessons, and grouping students according
to learning habits.
CommonLit - Free literacy resources and progress tracking tools Founded by former

media.
Conceptboard This software facilitates team collaboration in a visual format–similar to
mind-mapping, but using visual and textual inputs. Compatible on tablets and PCs,

has similar features but also includes an equation solver and a currency and unit
converter, along with a graphing calculator. This app will not be useful for everyone,
but if the features described match your needs then this is a great option, and it's free
too. Android users can get Graphing Calculator for free. This app is not available on
iOS, but this Free Graphing Calculator is a good alternative, though it doesn't look as
good.

many things, but for the specific use of looking up formulae, it's pretty much the best
bet. Mathematicus is free on Windows Phone.
MathGames A trusted source for math practice.
Mathmateer: At less than a dollar, this excellent math-learning game is a real value,
especially as it has been named one of the best games for kids by a number of
sources. It certainly helps make math fun, providing players with a whopping 56
different math missions.
Matific For teachers looking for STEM teaching tools, Matific is a great aid for teaching
students math. The site contains math-focused lesson plans, videos, and practice
problems, categorized by subject and grade level (K-6). Students can work through
creative and interactive “episodes” to learn different mathematics concepts, then test
their knowledge by taking the site’s adaptive worksheets. There are multiple
assessment methods, and teachers can review student results. Cost: Varies depending

Meritnation is the digital equivalent of a guide book for Indian students. It covers the
syllabus from class 6 to 12, for CBSE, ICSE and state boards of Maharashtra, Kerala
and Tamil Nadu. Free on Android and iOS, the mathematics section includes
problems from each chapter and gives you the solution. For students in India who
want to use an app specifically to help prepare for their exams, this will be useful. The
app does require a mandatory registration, and asks for your mobile number, and
much of the advanced content is also unlocked through the Meritnation website. That
does mean that you can unlock access on multiple platforms, but it's slightly
inconvenient otherwise. Meritnation is free on iOS and Android.
Merlot provides access to curated online learning and support materials and content creation
tools, led by an international community of educators, learners and researchers. Free

Meschool 4 Me is a free homeschooling resource that provides downloadable worksheets
and resources for parents who are new to homeschooling. Aside from worksheets, you
can download everything from Alphabet Playdough Mats to Sandwich Book
Report forms.
Micropoll A great tool for quickly creating polls and analyzing responses. Polls can be
embedded into websites as well.
Microsoft Digital Literacy Curriculum Microsoft offers a free introduction to digital
literacy through this site, as well as resources for teaching digital literacy.
Microsoft Learn Classes for Microsoft products including Azure, Microsoft Edge, Office
and Windows.
Microsoft Notepad MS Notepad along with Mac TextEdit is another writing tool that will
come in handy for those who prefer simple and concise text editor software over
complex and confusing programs. This software works autonomously supports an
offline mode and does not take too much space on one’s hard drive. MS Notepad and
Mac TextEdit are both practically identical solutions that are compatible with both
Windows and macOS (the latter version allows working with both native-format
documents and MS Word or OpenOffice files).
Middle School Confidential is a collection of digitally rendered graphic novels designed for
children aged 8-14. It aims to help tweens and teenagers tackle their lack of self-

Mini-games cover language, memory, math, and analysis; all valuable skills to have in any academic endeavor. BrainPops BrainPop and BrainPop Jr. are apps that cover a wide variety of topics. Its science videos might showcase the life cycle of plants, temperature, or hibernation (for younger kids) or potential energy, metabolism, or Jane Goodall. It suggests using a “breathe, think, and do” strategy — breath slowly three times, think of a plan (three plans per problem are suggested), then do it. Brickflow is an app where teachers and students can create presentations using content collected from social media. By searching the web through hashtags, teachers and students have the opportunity create a visual summary of a topic, building stories with content from Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, etc. This can be a fun and innovative way to spruce up classroom presentations and keep students up to date with current events. You can make this collaborative, or just have the answers viewable for you the teacher. This is not a robust threaded discussion tool like I wish it was, but it can be handy for formative assessments and to check for understanding. Google Docs Google Docs is globally-renowned online writing software that lets you unload your local storage and work with a copy in your browser, using various useful gadgets for writers. The standout features of Google Docs include collective editing and autonomous editing mode, which allows users to save changes made in offline mode on reconnection to the Internet. Google Earth Cool geographical exploration tool has endless classroom applications. Google Earth is an engaging and completely open-ended app perfect for use across the educational spectrum. Google Forms – A Google Drive app that allows you to create documents that students can collaborate on in real time using smartphones, tablets, and laptops. Google Maps is a web mapping service developed by Google. If you specify a repeat schedule, on a per-event and per-assignment basis, you can specify whether you’d like to use block or weekly based scheduling. Grammarly is arguably one of the most talked-about writing apps for MAC and Windows. It can help you check the spelling, grammar, punctuation, and even give pieces of advice on the tone of your copy. Grammarly’s “Tone” feature allows you to set customizable goals regarding the intent, audience, style, and the emotion of the text. It then measures a score of how well the text meets the goals that were set. Graphing Calculator An actual graphing calculator like the TI-84 will still cost you around $100, but you'll find plenty of apps with the same functionality. This app by Mathlab is one of the nicest ones we've seen, and it appears to work really well too. Over 10,000 people on the Play Store rated it 5-stars - and aside from the functionality, which you will find in a lot of different apps, we liked this one for its design, which is better than most similar apps. You can also try out BisMag Calculator 3D. This app has similar features but also includes an equation solver and a currency and unit converter, along with a graphing calculator. This app will not be useful for everyone, but if the features described match your needs then this is a great option, and it's free too. Android users can get Graphing Calculator for free. This app is not available on iOS, but this Free Graphing Calculator is a good alternative, though it doesn't look as good. Hackable? Hacking isn’t the way it looks in movies and TV, but it’s still a very real practice that, in the wrong hands, can jeopardize personal safety and national security. Host Geoff Siskind, along with cybersecurity expert Bruce Snell, explores the real world of cybercrime with the aim of helping you protect yourself against hackers. Haiku Deck suitable for students and teachers. A digital tool with whose help you can easily make presentations on your iPad, iPhone, and on the web. The tool works online and offers a huge database of stock photos with which you can create image-based slides. Haiku Deck makes it easy to create presentations on the go and literally carry them in your pocket. Haiku Deck can be also integrated into Google Classroom which has been very popular lately. Hardcore History is, in my humble opinion, the best podcast. It’s almost unfair to call it a podcast, because each episode of Dan Carlin’s brilliant show is on par with an audiobook – both in terms of production value and quality of research. The fact that his most recent episodes have been trending towards five hours in length or more doesn’t hurt the comparison either. Headspace – Studying and teaching can be incredibly stressful. To help manage your stress, Headspace is a digital service that provides guided meditation sessions and mindfulness training. And it’s available in app form, so you can meditate anywhere you go. For just 10-minutes a day, meditating with Headspace will help you and your students unwind and be present. Hearing Music: Give students ages 5-11 a fun way to boost hearing skills and learn more about music by supplying them with this fun game-based learning method.

By simply copying and pasting your work into the Hemingway editor, you can view all the areas of improvement and optimization in your text, such as: which sentences can be shortened, which words can be replaced with other more fitting words or phrases, where passive voice can be removed, etc. High-Adventure Science Highly relevant site teaches how to construct arguments, defend claims. Provides a crucial and timely earth science backdrop to lessons on analysis, data, and modeling that are important for all students to grasp. HippoCampus With over 3,000 free videos in 13 different subjects, HippoCampus is brought to you by the Monterey Institute for Technology and Education. You can find classes on arithmetic, algebra and geometry, natural science, chemistry, social science, history and government, English, religion, and more. Hologo is made for Education. Where ever you maybe, look through the lens of your device into your real world and get projections of lifelike virtual images and animations customized for learning. With Hologo you can choose an experience, walk up to and around the educational AR models. Users can zoom in and break apart objects and dive deep into the models. Homer. Proven Learn-to-Read Program for Kids 2-8. Homeroom Mom (Parent)—A unique online support community. They share tips and tools for working with parents and teachers. They’ve also got ideas for all sorts of class projects. Hooked On Phonics uses a proven, fun method to teach critical reading skills. Developed by leading educators, each session takes just 20 minutes or less. Hoopla is your own personal library. Everything on the app is always available for immediate virtual check-out, and it’s FREE. Hoopla is especially popular for its wide selection of audiobooks, comics, and graphic novels. Plus, it has a dedicated “Kids Mode,” making it easier for everyone to find books they’ll love. How Would You Feel If... (iOS; Android) poses that question in 56 different life situations designed to lead to discussions of a child's reaction and feelings. The only downside is that unlike Photomath however, with iMathematics, you have to enter the equations manually - you can't just take a picture of the equations. iMathematics is available for free on iOS and Android. You can unlock the pro version with an in-app purchase. Insert Learning - Insert instructional content on any web page. With InsertLearning, teachers turn web pages into interactive lessons by inserting questions, videos, discussions, insight and more into the text. Students stay focused, engaged, and active participants in their learning by annotating text, answering text-dependent (“un- googleable”) questions, and live discussions. Instructables – is a website specializing in user-created and uploaded DIY projects. Instructables has a ton of awesome projects for teachers to do with their classes and supports teachers and students by providing free premium membership. Cooking, crafts, costumes, outdoor play, technology, etc. Intellify Learning They give you the ability to track learning activities across all platforms and tools used, gauge student engagement and performance including identifying students at risk, and inform and monitor remedial activities. Education providers are also able to monitor activity and performance of courses and programs, and identify areas for data-informed iterative improvements. Istation - Computer-Adaptive Assessments, Instruction, and More Istation (aka Imagination Station) is an award-winning, comprehensive e-learning program used by more than four million students and educators around the world. By analyzing real-time performance data of students, Knewton Alta, its higher ed solution, helps professors adapt their courses to each of their students and track their progress. Knewton provides also its own verified online courses that will automatically adapt to students' progress. Finally, Knewton provides a complete Learning analytics solution for enterprises, focusing on the best data and insights to help educators adapt and improve their content according to learners' needs. Knewton is already quite famous, but their continuous improvement is just fantastic. Kodable-coding For Kids teaches kids the basics of many current programming languages, such as JavaScript. The game uses an interactive story to introduce the fundamentals of computer science—concepts include object-oriented programming, properties and conditional logic statements. Kwiksurveys This is a great tool for creating custom polls, surveys, and quizzes that can be instantly shared through social media, or posted to teacher websites or blogs. KwizzBit – is a unique interactive quiz and audience participation platform. Using a smartphone or internet-enabled device, students can play and interact in real time. KwizzBit allows both the player and the host to engage seamlessly in interactive entertainment. Teachers can send students information to be put into their own LiveBinders, and they can also share LiveBinders or information in their LiveBinders with other teachers to make collaboration easier. Cost: Free Magic School Bus Oceans: This is just one of many Magic School Bus games out there, all of which can be amazing ways for young learners to have fun while surreptitiously being educated. In this game, kids will explore the ocean through a series of lessons and seven different educational games. Manga High: Math gets a fun makeover on this site, focusing on game-based learning for students at a wide range of levels. Basic games are free, but the full suite will cost you. Marshmallow Coding—A fun unique way for younger students to learn the power of code. Math Blaster: One of the most widely used math games out there, this free game will make learning math more fun than ever for your young learners.

The app doesn't do too many things, but for the specific use of looking up formulae, it's pretty much the best bet. Mathematicus is free on Windows Phone. Mathmateer: At less than a dollar, this excellent math-learning game is a real value, especially as it has been named one of the best games for kids by a number of sources. It certainly helps make math fun, providing players with a whopping 56 different math missions. Matific For teachers looking for STEM teaching tools, Matific is a great aid for teaching students math. The site contains math-focused lesson plans, videos, and practice problems, categorized by subject and grade level (K-6). It covers the syllabus from class 6 to 12, for CBSE, ICSE and state boards of Maharashtra, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Free on Android and iOS, the mathematics section includes problems from each chapter and gives you the solution. For students in India who want to use an app specifically to help prepare for their exams, this will be useful. The app does require a mandatory registration, and asks for your mobile number, and much of the advanced content is also unlocked through the Meritnation website. That does mean that you can unlock access on multiple platforms, but it's slightly inconvenient otherwise. Meritnation is free on iOS and Android. Merlot provides access to curated online learning and support materials and content creation tools, led by an international community of educators, learners and researchers. Free research tool. Meschool 4 Me is a free homeschooling resource that provides downloadable worksheets and resources for parents who are new to homeschooling. Microsoft Notepad MS Notepad along with Mac TextEdit is another writing tool that will come in handy for those who prefer simple and concise text editor software over complex and confusing programs. This software works autonomously supports an offline mode and does not take too much space on one’s hard drive.
