This document summarizes Caitlynne Harrington's visit to LastExitVinylHouse, a record store, bookstore, and coffeehouse located in Kent, OH. The store has sections across two buildings and offers vinyl records, books, and coffee. Caitlynne documents examples of EPs and LPs found in the store, asks staff questions, and notes the store hosts live music events but had no promotions or exclusives during her visit. In conclusion, she reflects the store would be a good place for an indie artist to do an album release event given its location near a college campus and live performance space.

This record store consist of 3
sections across 2 building
including a book store, vinyl
and record shop and a
coffeehouse.
(The vinyl house entrance did not
have a sign, I opted to take a photo
in front of the book store entrance)

This is an EP because it only
consist of a total of 3 songs.
“The usual EP length in the
past was largely based on the
number of tracks, falling in the
range of 3 to 6 songs on the
track list.”

ACDC Highway to Hell
This is an LP because it consists
of 10 songs and the play time is
41.3 minutes; This is also a 12”
Vinyl.
“Track number and play time can
vary somewhat, but is usually
somewhere between 30 to 50
minutes and 10 to 12 tracks in
total”

5. Researchquestion(s)
Q: Do you offer consignment to indie artists?
A: “At the moment we do not, we are more for crate digging collectors”
Q: How often do marketing reps visit
from the record labels?
A: “I personally have never known
anyone to stop in.”

6. Events
This location offers
on occasion live
music.
Most of their events
are readings and
Open Mic nights
No Current Upcoming events,

7. Exclusives
Upon asking the clerk they were not aware
of the store having released an album
exclusive for Record Store Day.
They were not able to provide reasons as
to why. I did follow up research to see if
there was anything exclusive posted on
their instagram and did not find any
records posted for that day as well.

8. SWAG
(Stuff We All Get)
“Swag is a slang name for promotional
items that advertise companies or their
products”

The store only had small business cards
at the front checkout area that were Free
for anyone.
In addition their Bookstore had totes
that were available to purchase

9. Promos
During my attendance there was no current promos being run
for the products in the store.
The clerk did inform me that they
often run specials including “Buy
one Get one” Deals and that they
are often advertised on their
instagram.

10. Reflection
I personally would use this for an
Indie artist album release
The record store is located near
a very large college campus and
from my personal experience
has a lot of foot traffic.
Given the building is capable of
hosting live events I would
recommend the artist have an in
store event.
