This document provides an overview of strategic design thinking and its application. It discusses the evolution of design from the Industrial Revolution to the present digital age. Design has progressed from function-focused mass production to more culturally-focused approaches. The document also outlines methodologies for translating concepts into practical design solutions through tools like the Creative Business Idea framework and case studies of companies like Air France and Sulwhasoo.
This document provides an introduction to strategic design. It discusses key topics like what design and strategy are, why strategic design is important, and the design process. The presentation covers how design can help achieve business goals by creating new products and services, improving existing ones, and developing new markets. It also gives examples of how companies like Apple have used strategic design thinking to develop ecosystems around their products.
Strategically impacting your organization
- Three key skills to master for strategic impact are: 1) Own your brand, 2) Make the current state and impacts of decisions transparent, and 3) Get shared vision on goals and measures.
- Owning your brand means understanding what attributes and perceptions people associate with you and designing your brand accordingly.
- Making the current state transparent involves tools like customer experience maps to uncover friction points and focus on critical issues that impact only some or few users. Shared metrics around customer satisfaction, ease of use, and value help align stakeholders.
This is the latest version of my many presentation about how strategic innovation can be driven via meaningful experiences. In included update material I've presented in the USA, Belgium, Chile, Buenos Aires, and Korea, etc. (May 2009)
In the digital age, good design doesn’t just result in products, it results in new relationships.
What does it really mean to be “digital”? How do non-software organisations thrive in today’s disruptive landscape? What are the key components that make for a digital transformation?
In his keynote, Alvaro introduces the necessary components for today's organisations to thrive through Strategic Design and Experience Strategy.

1) Roll pass design (RPD) is an important factor for process efficiency, product quality, and resource consumption in hot steel rolling mills. Optimizing RPD can help reduce costs and improve productivity.
2) Scientists analyze large databases of RPDs and rolling parameters to find statistical patterns and relationships hidden within. Generic mathematical functions can be used to define roll groove geometries to aid analysis.
3) The paper presents examples of using generic functions to analyze RPD cases for symmetrical sections. Statistical analysis of past RPD data using the functions can provide insights to optimize existing RPDs and aid in developing new improved RPDs.

Abstract: This presentation aims to put strategic design into perspective as a new culture of decision-making. Design strategy is about creating roadmaps and brand experiences that are transcendent and resilient. It is about processes that embark on social engagement as a catalyst for systemic organizational change. It is about systems of products and services that are strategically innovative and holistic. Design strategy is about a mindset, a way of thinking and a set of tools that help businesses, organizations and institutions realize what it is that they should be doing next, how they can do it, and most importantly, why they should be doing it in the first place.
Strategic design tools - patterns, frameworks and principlesoli shaw
Presented at UX Scotland June 2013.
"This talk covers how to create a strategic vision for a product / service, and then take that vision though a series of strategic design tools to guide its journey though production to release.
We will cover:
What strategic design is and why its important
How to create design principals for a project which can be used to aid feature ideas, prioritisation and design
Working with stakeholders to translate solutions back into requirements
Frameworks for collaborative design"
Design Strategy: How information Can Drive Your Designs Decisions To SuccessSara Cannon
In this talk, seasoned creative director Sara Cannon will dive into the intersection of strategy and creativity through discussing how knowledge can inform design decisions. She will be looking at how different methods of research, data-collection, and strategical thinking can play into the creativity behind designs. And how at the end of the design process, you can measure success.
Design strategy involves determining the goals and approach for developing a design solution. This includes understanding business goals, target users, technological constraints, and critical success factors. Personas are created by synthesizing user, task, and environmental profiles to represent specific user groups. The design strategy template provides questions to gather requirements and better understand users, tasks, contexts, and goals to inform the design process.

This document shares the story of Esther Teunissen and her company C7 DNA. It discusses their success in selling over 3000 books and gaining over 200 new fans per month through blogging and social media marketing. Their pinball story has allowed them to donate over 6500 euro to charity and host over 100 people per year at their headquarters while maintaining freedom like blogging in their underwear. They emphasize chasing visions over money and putting effort into followers through passion and care.

De presentatie van Stefan over Human Centered Design op http://cod.ee/. Codee is een kleinschalig evenement voor professionals die zich met code en design bezig houden.
This document summarizes Stefan Wobben's presentation on developing a creative mindset. The presentation discusses how positive change is a result of both mindset and tools. It encourages being positive, wondering why, going out and playing, doing scary things, giving a crap, and saying "yes" instead of "but." Sketching and coming up with lots of ideas are presented as tools to spark creativity. The audience then engages in an exercise where they sketch ideas to address challenges and vote on the best concepts. The goal is to have fun generating ideas and refining them into 2-minute pitches.

This document discusses persuasion tactics and techniques. It outlines two routes to influence - the central route using logical consideration and potential attitude change, and the peripheral route using superficial qualities and temporary behavior change. It also discusses how humans are social beings and persuasion aims to change attitudes or behaviors without coercion or deception. A number of principles of persuasion design are listed, such as reduction, tunneling, tailoring, and using authority, reciprocity, scarcity, and consistency. The document questions whether persuasion techniques can go too far and notes that all design has some persuasive elements and ethics depend on the designer's intentions.
