That’s why we need completely new approaches to be taken in order to make our cities to be Smart City. Smart City is a type of city that uses new technologies to make them more livable, functional, competitive and modern through the use of new technologies, the promotion of innovation and knowledge management. Cities today are facing significant challenges including increasing populations, infrastructures, and declining budgets.

It also follows the co-design approach by being an open source platform that allows citizens to cooperate to build the system and add new services. This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the

environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the

- 1. CJ’s “MyGov: :Smart cities” Through Citizens Engagement GOI under PM Modi has a vision of developing 100 smart cities as satellite towns of larger cities and by modernizing the existing mid-sized cities. Smart cities will have basic infrastructure, efficient urban mobility and public transport, IT connectivity and e-governance mechanisms. Q1. What is the Societal Problem being addressed & what is the objectives of your Citizen Engagement? Problem: Overcrowding in Urban centres, migration of rural population to Cities. Opportunity: If smart cities are created across India, there will be decongestion and all round development to improve quality of Citizens’ life. The Objectives: • Holistic Development Involving CitizensHarnessing Technology • Economic Growth • Quality Life for Citizens Q 2. Who are the Key players? Government – central, state and local, mayors, officials and elected representatives, NGOs and infrastructure developers. i) Who is spearheading this initiative and why are they best placed to do it?
- 2. Spearheaded by Government. ii) Who is the Target Audience and How are participants recruited? Target audience – By Citizens, Of Citizens, For Citizens. Participants will be recruited through: 1. “MyGov Volunteer Platform” which matches the government requirements to volunteer skills and time availability. 2. The “MyGov Events Platform” to be used by government organizations to involve and engage citizens 3. An interactive voice response system (IVRS) for participation in MyGov activities (for those not having internet connectivity). 4. “The MyGov Swachh Bharat” (Clean India) webpage providing details on how the activities can be made even more participative and citizen focused. 5. MyGov will soon announce the winners of the “PMO App Contest”, a first of its kind activity built through Crowd Sourcing. 6. Monthly “In-Person MyGov Interaction”, with a Union Minister where experts on social media will be invited to present their ideas and suggestions. 7. An “Idea Factory”, where field officers in rural India ensure last mile delivery. 8. Municipal governments supplement MyGov activities with other public interactions in their respective cities. Tools used: • Various initiatives on the “MyGov” National portal. • Range of citizen consultations – discussion forums, competitions, online polls, public talks and blogs. • Conduct “The India Smart Cities Challenge” designed to inspire and support municipal officials. Q 4.What are the Risks & Opportunities? What New strategies could be used to maximize the Potential of the Initiative? Risks: • Breakdown between various agencies
