Human Resources Director of Human
Resources
1 This position is the Human Resources executive on the senior management
team. Has overall responsibility for all aspects of the organization's Human
Resources functions. Supervises Human Resources staff. Advises other top
executives and the organization's board of directors on Human Resources-
related issues. Directs human resources functions including employment,
compensation, benefits, training, affirmative action/equal employment,
employee relations and services in support of organization objectives. Advises
management on labor and other legal issues relative to employment.
Develops and implements organization-wide policies and programs that will
contribute to its overall success. The Director is the sole human resources
practitioner, supervises 2.5 FTE and has responsibility for implementing the
human resources program and reporting to the BVARI Board of Directors.
Human Resources Payroll Administrator
(part-time)
1 Under general supervision, develops and administers employee payroll
process, including health insurance, retirement plan deferrals, time and labor
reports, and accounts receivable process for IPAs. Oversees employee
benefits enrollment process.
Human Resources Talent Acquisition
Specialist
1 Performs a wide variety of Human Resources functions including recruiting;
interviewing and hiring staff; administering benefits; onboarding and
orientation; compensation programs; resolving employee relations issues;
counseling staff and advising managers and supervisors; conducting exit
interviews; interpreting human resources policies and laws; and enhancing
and promoting the institutional brand in order to recruit and retain talent.

Generalist
1 Under limited supervision by the Director of Human Resources, is responsible
for several functions in the Human Resources department such as
employment, compensation, benefits, training, and employee relations.
Advises managers and staff on employment laws, policies and practices.
Ensures organization practices are in compliance with laws. Participates in the
development and implementation of new policies and practices. Creates or
improves intra-departmental Human Resources forms and processes and
liaises bi-directional flow of information. This position does not generally have
a supervisory role.

1 Directs delivery of programs in accordance with the organization’s goals and
objectives. May write, participate and will authorize outgoing grant
applications. Ensures program activities comply with sponsor and internal
policies. Acts as liaison with government agencies, the community and the
public relative to funding, contracts and delivery of services. Participates as a
member of the senior management team in the development and
implementation of organization-wide policies and programs that will
contribute to its overall success. Manages educational programs; physical
plant; and intra-departmental initiatives/process improvements. Oversees
compliance with internal and external nonprofit policies and directives. Liaises
with chief executive and board chair, serving as management lead on
governance (Board of Directors; Executive, Audit, and Retirement
Committees) structure, content, and communications. This Director is
required to be expert in pre and post award management, Uniform Guidance,
nonprofit governance and supervises 2.0 FTE.

Administrator
1 Researches grant opportunities that match the goals and objectives of the
organization. Gathers information from various departments and
coordinates/writes grant proposals for government, corporate and
foundation funds. Develops/maintains effective, long-term working
relationships with grantors to facilitate approvals of grants. Follows up with
grantors to determine/monitor grant status. Serves as liaison to Principal
Investigators on research proposal/budget development and technical
reporting.
Operations Administrative
Assistant
1 Provides a wide variety of skilled administrative and clerical support for chief
executive, directors or other senior management staff. Responsibilities
involve exposure to sensitive information and require considerable use of
tact, diplomacy, discretion and judgment. Assumes responsibility for
coordinating and supporting special projects; transcribes and distributes
meeting minutes; prepares board packets; maintains databases; may follow
up on projects assigned to managers by senior executive. Performs clerical
duties including answering telephones, screening calls, taking messages and
acting as receptionist; uses computer skills to enter and maintain data;
prepares correspondence and develops other routine documents; may make
appointments and travel arrangements, coordinates activities relative to
department functions. Generates and formats reports and other documents
using a full range of computer software skills.
General Counsel General Counsel 1 Provides legal counsel to organization on assigned projects or cases. Advises
on cases involving the organization and may represent it in court. Draws up
contracts involving leases, licenses, purchases, sales, real estate, insurance,
employment, CRADAs, and other issues. Requires admission to practice law
under the Massachusetts Bar Association.
Finance Director of Finance 1 Manages the financial resources of the organization including accounting,
finance, organization-wide budgets, investments, and treasury in accordance
with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and organization/contract
policies and procedures; safeguards assets through the maintenance of
proper controls. Participates as a member of the senior management team in
the development and implementation of organization-wide policies and
programs that will contribute to its overall success.
Finance Accounting Manager 0 Manages and performs various professional accounting activities including
developing, implementing and maintaining the accounting systems, policies
and procedures; compiling, analyzing and reporting accounting data for
management reports and decision making purposes; may act as primary
liaison with outside auditors and government agencies on contract issues.
Manages monthly closings. Provides day-to-day supervision of one or more
general accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable
and payroll. Ensures accuracy and compliance with accounting policies and
procedures. Researches and resolves related problems.
Finance Financial Analyst 2 Performs various accounting duties including maintenance and analysis of
accounting records, preparation of accounting schedules, reports and
financial statements; prepares journal entries and reconciles ledger accounts;
ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and
organization’s policies, procedures and contracts. Reconciles all bank
statements, purchasing, and prepares all purchase orders from initializing
against budgets to ensuring appropriate back up and completion of
payments.

1 The organization's Information Technology expert who is responsible for the
management of computer and software purchases, functionality and
efficiencies. This position is the IT executive on the senior management team.
Has overall responsibility for all aspects of the organization's IT functions.
Advises other top executives and the organization's board of directors on IT-
related issues. Project lead for BVARI’s strategic planning and SPIRIT
continuous improvement team. Leads or supports other management/senior
executive on dedicated aspects of institutional special projects.

Position Title Number of People Description Leadership/ Management Chief Executive Officer 1 Responsible to the Board of Directors for management of the entire nonprofit organization including pre and post award management and compliance oversight; Human Resources staffing, training, and compensation; strategic planning; program definition and direction; financial oversight and accountability; communications; governance; regulatory oversight; organizational mission, direction, structure, and initiatives. Drives organizational growth and manages change. Represents organization to government agencies, VA nonprofit colleagues, community and the public. Serves as senior advisor and voting member of the Board of Directors. Human Resources Director of Human Resources 1 This position is the Human Resources executive on the senior management team. Has overall responsibility for all aspects of the organization's Human Resources functions. Supervises Human Resources staff. Advises other top executives and the organization's board of directors on Human Resources- related issues. Directs human resources functions including employment, compensation, benefits, training, affirmative action/equal employment, employee relations and services in support of organization objectives. Advises management on labor and other legal issues relative to employment. Develops and implements organization-wide policies and programs that will contribute to its overall success. The Director is the sole human resources practitioner, supervises 2.5 FTE and has responsibility for implementing the human resources program and reporting to the BVARI Board of Directors. Human Resources Payroll Administrator (part-time) 1 Under general supervision, develops and administers employee payroll process, including health insurance, retirement plan deferrals, time and labor reports, and accounts receivable process for IPAs. Oversees employee benefits enrollment process. Human Resources Talent Acquisition Specialist 1 Performs a wide variety of Human Resources functions including recruiting; interviewing and hiring staff; administering benefits; onboarding and orientation; compensation programs; resolving employee relations issues; counseling staff and advising managers and supervisors; conducting exit interviews; interpreting human resources policies and laws; and enhancing

Human Resources Human Resources Generalist 1 Under limited supervision by the Director of Human Resources, is responsible for several functions in the Human Resources department such as employment, compensation, benefits, training, and employee relations. Advises managers and staff on employment laws, policies and practices. Ensures organization practices are in compliance with laws. Participates in the development and implementation of new policies and practices. Creates or improves intra-departmental Human Resources forms and processes and liaises bi-directional flow of information. This position does not generally have a supervisory role. Operations & Sponsored Programs Director of Operations & Sponsored Programs 1 Directs delivery of programs in accordance with the organization’s goals and objectives. May write, participate and will authorize outgoing grant applications. Ensures program activities comply with sponsor and internal policies. Acts as liaison with government agencies, the community and the public relative to funding, contracts and delivery of services. Participates as a member of the senior management team in the development and implementation of organization-wide policies and programs that will contribute to its overall success. Manages educational programs; physical plant; and intra-departmental initiatives/process improvements. Oversees compliance with internal and external nonprofit policies and directives. Liaises with chief executive and board chair, serving as management lead on governance (Board of Directors; Executive, Audit, and Retirement Committees) structure, content, and communications. This Director is required to be expert in pre and post award management, Uniform Guidance, nonprofit governance and supervises 2.0 FTE. Sponsored Programs Sponsored Programs Administrator 1 Researches grant opportunities that match the goals and objectives of the organization. Gathers information from various departments and coordinates/writes grant proposals for government, corporate and foundation funds. Develops/maintains effective, long-term working relationships with grantors to facilitate approvals of grants. Follows up with grantors to determine/monitor grant status. Serves as liaison to Principal

Operations Administrative Assistant 1 Provides a wide variety of skilled administrative and clerical support for chief executive, directors or other senior management staff. Responsibilities involve exposure to sensitive information and require considerable use of tact, diplomacy, discretion and judgment. Assumes responsibility for coordinating and supporting special projects; transcribes and distributes meeting minutes; prepares board packets; maintains databases; may follow up on projects assigned to managers by senior executive. Performs clerical duties including answering telephones, screening calls, taking messages and acting as receptionist; uses computer skills to enter and maintain data; prepares correspondence and develops other routine documents; may make appointments and travel arrangements, coordinates activities relative to department functions. Generates and formats reports and other documents using a full range of computer software skills. General Counsel General Counsel 1 Provides legal counsel to organization on assigned projects or cases. Advises on cases involving the organization and may represent it in court. Draws up contracts involving leases, licenses, purchases, sales, real estate, insurance, employment, CRADAs, and other issues. Requires admission to practice law under the Massachusetts Bar Association. Finance Director of Finance 1 Manages the financial resources of the organization including accounting, finance, organization-wide budgets, investments, and treasury in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and organization/contract policies and procedures; safeguards assets through the maintenance of proper controls. Participates as a member of the senior management team in the development and implementation of organization-wide policies and programs that will contribute to its overall success. Finance Accounting Manager 0 Manages and performs various professional accounting activities including developing, implementing and maintaining the accounting systems, policies and procedures; compiling, analyzing and reporting accounting data for management reports and decision making purposes; may act as primary liaison with outside auditors and government agencies on contract issues. Manages monthly closings. Provides day-to-day supervision of one or more general accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable
  • 4. and payroll. Ensures accuracy and compliance with accounting policies and procedures. Researches and resolves related problems. Finance Financial Analyst 2 Performs various accounting duties including maintenance and analysis of accounting records, preparation of accounting schedules, reports and financial statements; prepares journal entries and reconciles ledger accounts; ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and organization’s policies, procedures and contracts. Reconciles all bank statements, purchasing, and prepares all purchase orders from initializing against budgets to ensuring appropriate back up and completion of payments. IT, Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement Director of IT, Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement 1 The organization's Information Technology expert who is responsible for the management of computer and software purchases, functionality and efficiencies. This position is the IT executive on the senior management team. Has overall responsibility for all aspects of the organization's IT functions. Advises other top executives and the organization's board of directors on IT- related issues. Project lead for BVARI’s strategic planning and SPIRIT continuous improvement team. Leads or supports other management/senior executive on dedicated aspects of institutional special projects.
