Bullying is a widespread problem in Ecuadorian schools. A 2004 study found that 32% of 980 Ecuadorian children and teens reported being bullied occasionally. Common types of bullying in Ecuador include physical, psychological, verbal, cyberbullying, and social bullying. The types of aggression depend on the age of the aggressor and victim, ranging from verbal and physical for ages 4-9, to verbal, physical, social, and sexual for ages 10-13 and 14-18. Some schools in Quito are working to address the problem through anti-bullying policies and campaigns.
