Bullying is a serious problem in Ecuadorian schools, where students of all ages suffer physical and psychological abuse from their peers on a daily basis. However, many victims do not report the bullying to adults. While authorities are aware of the issue, they do not have reliable data on the scope of the problem. In response, the Ecuadorian assembly is discussing punishments for bullies to make schools safer.

1. Bullying in Ecuador
To begin we must first know what bullying is
“Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that
involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has
the potential to be repeated, over time. Both kids who are bullied and who bully
others may have serious, lasting problems.” (Stopbullying, no date)
Bullying includes physical and psychological abuse. This situation has
increased in our country and it has brought authorities attention. Students inside
Ecuadorian institutions suffer bullying day to day. Students of all ages are
harassed at school and they do not report the situation to a grown up. This is a
silent war were victims are not shouting out for help.

although they do not have numbers to represent how serious the problem is. The
Ecuadorian assembly is discussing to decide punishments for the students that
are identified as bullies in order to make schools a better place.
