This document discusses measures against bullying in Turkey. It notes that approximately 30% of high school students report being bullied and 5% admit to bullying others. 2. BULLYING IN TURKEY
• Bullying is a growing epidemic in today’s society. Everyday we face different kinds of
bullying in various situations.
• Recent studies show that about %30 of students at high school level state being bullied once.
And %5 of students admit being a bully once.
• Unfortunately, bullying is a common social problem all around the world. And it’s one of the
most important subjects on counseling curriculums at any level.

4. COUNSELING CURRICULUMS
• When we look into our current counseling currirulums, we
see that bullying takes place four weeks per year for each
grade (9th-12th).
• These include the topics like how to cope with bullying,
what to do against a bully and whom to ask help.
• During these, students are informed about the subject
through sample situations. They’re asked what to do in that
case and what the consequences would be and then they’re
informed about how they cope with it.

5. MULTI-PROBLEM
SCREENING INVENTORY
• Several multi-problem screening inventories are applied
during the terms by schools’ counselors. These reveal
students’ overall problems including bullying.
• After the problems are identified, students get the needed
help.
• If there is a bullying issue, counselor provides consultancy
service considering both the victim and the bully.

6. MORAL VALUES EDUCATION
• Education of values has a growing importance in Turkey.
It’s been applied in a planned way for years. Every month,
students attend various activities about a value. During the
year, students join activities to remember and realise these
values.
• This doesn’t include bullying directly but the values include
topics against bullying like respect, sensitivity, unity,
cooperation, tolerance and peace.

9. At Our School
• According to the last Multi-problem Screening Inventory
(applied in October 2017), %6 of our students informed
being bullied verbally. But when we consider recent years,
we’ve also faced with physical and cyber bullying.
• Students mostly report bullying verbally and ask for help.
As sending emails is not popular there’s no bullying issue
reported to ‘dalagainstbullying@com’. And in most cases,
the most common reason is having fun, not hatred.
• As teachers, we observe the students and intervene in
bullying cases.We can say that our rates are lower compared
to others around Turkey. This may be a result of the closed
society we live in.
