Youth sexual violence is a significant problem in the United States, with most victims being female and the perpetrator typically being male and known to the victim. College women are at higher risk than other age groups. By high school, half of students have engaged in some form of sexual activity. The goals of school nurses are to prevent violence through education on conflict resolution and recognizing early warning signs, as well as assisting students in developing coping skills. While little is known about preventing sexual violence, one program called Safe Dates has been shown to be effective through randomized controlled trials. The CDC takes a four-step approach of defining the problem, identifying risk factors, developing prevention strategies, and implementing prevention programs. The ultimate goal is to stop sexual
How does youth violence affect health?
Deaths resulting from youth violence are only part of the problem. Many young people need medical care for violence-related injuries. These injuries can include cuts, bruises, broken bones, and gunshot wounds. Some injuries, like gunshot wounds, can lead to lasting disabilities.
Violence can also affect the health of communities. It can increase health care costs, decrease property values, and disrupt social services.

Research tells us about the importance of friendships for adolescents. However many adolescent boys struggle to make and keep close friends. The HHS Office of Adolescent Health (OAH) and the federal Interagency Working Group on Youth Programs have developed a new video, “The Crisis of Connection for Adolescent Boys,” which underscores this struggle to connect and provides guidance on how to foster supportive friendships among adolescent boys. This is the first in a new TAG Talks video series created as part of the Adolescent Health: Think, Act, Grow® (TAG) call to action and is accompanied by discussion guides for professionals and families and additional resources.

Harnessing the power of music and drama to end youth violence in rural commu...Méthode Nezerwa
All types of violence, especially sexual violence, were used as systematic weapons of Rwandan 1994 genocide and its aftermath. Youth were the main perpetrators of both genocide and violence. Despite the engagement of Rwandan society in the issue of violence since the genocide, it is continuosly emerging and involving youth especially those living in rural communities. The use of music and drama in the prevention of youth violence has significant outcomes.

Child abuse both physical and sexual has been increasing all over the world. I think this is mainly because parents with young children are isolated and are finding it hard to cope on their own.
Political and media hype has resulted in doctors and other agencies involved in the care of children ignoring or not trained to recognise early signs. This often result is prolonged agony and may result in tragic consequence.
When these neglected children grow -up and decide to go on a rampage killing innocent people, the leaders and media use the opportunity to promote themselves and criticise the offender.
I have personally experienced the difficulties of defending my ethical duty and know how difficult this can be to stand alone and defend the care of a helpless children. I have published this slide presentation to teach every responsible adult to help protect the life of innocent children.
Let us stop breeding monsters and create a world filled with joy and laughter of happy children.
This is my well received child abuse lecture designed for pre-hospital providers. There are reference to Idaho Codes, but this could be made state specific.
Children and Families Forum Suicide Prevention for Children and AJinElias52
Children and Families Forum: Suicide Prevention for Children and AdolescentsBy Liza Greville, MA, LCSWSocial Work TodayVol. 17 No. 5 P. 32
With the release of the Netflix drama 13 Reasons Why in March 2017, social workers from middle schools to colleges and universities across the country found themselves plunged into conversations with adolescents and young adults around topics related to suicide. While many mental health professionals objected strongly to the series, saying it contains harmful messages about the inevitability of suicide, the ability to achieve revenge through suicide, the absence of helpful others, and insufficient messages about the availability of help and support, most professionals acknowledged that, apart from these concerns, the series opened a space for conversation on a topic that is shrouded in stigma, fear, pain, and misunderstanding.
By having an accurate understanding of the scope of the problem, confronting myths and imprecise language, and using best practices in screening, intervention, and prevention, social workers have a critical role in helping children, adolescents, and young adults move through a suicidal crisis to emotional wellness.
Data on Suicide
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), suicide was the 10th-leading cause of death for all ages in 2013. Suicide was the third-leading cause of death among persons aged 10 to 14, and the second among persons aged 15 to 34, though middle-aged adults accounted for the largest proportion of suicides (56% in 2011). The percentage of adults having serious thoughts about suicide was highest among adults aged 18 to 25 (7.4%), followed by adults aged 26 to 49 (4%), then by adults aged 50 and older (2.7%) (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2015).
The following were noted among students in grades nine through 12 during 2013:
• Seventeen percent of students seriously considered attempting suicide in previous 12 months (22.4% of females and 11.6% of males).
• 13.6% of students made a plan about how they would attempt suicide in the previous 12 months (16.9% of females and 10.3% of males).
• Eight percent of students attempted suicide one or more times in previous 12 months (10.6% of females and 5.4% of males).
• 2.7% of students made a suicide attempt that resulted in an injury, poisoning, or an overdose that required medical attention (3.6% of females and 1.8% of males) (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2015).
New research presented in May 2017 at the Pediatric Academic Societies Meeting analyzed hospital admissions with a diagnosis of suicidal thoughts or behaviors and serious self-harm from 32 children's hospitals across that nation from 2008 to 2015. Researchers found the number of admissions has more than doubled during the past decade. The research found the largest increases among girls, and seasonal variations with the spring and fall having higher admission rates than summer (American Academy of Pediatrics, 2017 ...

This skill-based program will help parents learn different skills to help their children during the divorce or separation process. As parents confront the challenges of divorce, they often use their children to manipulate and or control one another around personal, financial, or social issues. These are things that will often increase the stress and anxiety experienced by the child. This in return can increase risk for behavior problems, depression, delinquency, substance use, teen pregnancy, school failure/dropout, and suicide.
Risk Factors that can push your child to becoming delinquent. What are some Risk Factors?
· Going from a two parent household to a one parent household
· Depression
· Lack of a role model
· Lack of trust
· Responsibility shift
· Teen pregnancy
How are these linked to Juvenile Delinquency?
· When there is only one parent they tend to work more, resulting in them being around less leaving juveniles unsupervised
· Depression often leads to drugs, and substance abuse which results in criminal behaviors
· Lack of a role model or lack of relationship with same parent lead to social issues
· Lack of trust will result to turning to the wrong crowd or unhealthy relationships which can result in violence and criminal behavior
· When parents separate/divorce juveniles can feel responsible feeling they need to do more and are only able to through criminal behavior
· Teen pregnancy can lead to criminal behavior as a result of lack of education and need to supply to their baby

I remember writing this out with Ashley over a weekend in DC in my office, around a training we were asked to deliver at UMD, based on our experiences at GW and CU; and starting SAFER with Sarah, Jeff, and Ashley out of our shared experiences. Amazing how much I've been thinking about that this past year. Sad and yet reflective how far we've come in 20 years.
This webinar was developed by Child Trends in 2015 for the Office of Adolescent Health (OAH) as a technical assistance product for use with OAH grant programs.
You have been tasked with orienting new registered nurses in the emergency department in your hospital about how to manage child abuse and neglect cases. The orientation should cover child abuse and neglect definitions, prevention, detection, intervention and treatment, reporting, and interdisciplinary resources.

India Clinical Trials Market: Industry Size and Growth Trends [2030] Analyzed...Kumar Satyam
According to TechSci Research report, "India Clinical Trials Market- By Region, Competition, Forecast & Opportunities, 2030F," the India Clinical Trials Market was valued at USD 2.05 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.64% through 2030. The market is driven by a variety of factors, making India an attractive destination for pharmaceutical companies and researchers. India's vast and diverse patient population, cost-effective operational environment, and a large pool of skilled medical professionals contribute significantly to the market's growth. Additionally, increasing government support in streamlining regulations and the growing prevalence of lifestyle diseases further propel the clinical trials market.
Growing Prevalence of Lifestyle Diseases
The rising incidence of lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer is a major trend driving the clinical trials market in India. These conditions necessitate the development and testing of new treatment methods, creating a robust demand for clinical trials. The increasing burden of these diseases highlights the need for innovative therapies and underscores the importance of India as a key player in global clinical research.

Medical Technology Tackles New Health Care Demand - Research Report - March 2...pchutichetpong
M Capital Group (“MCG”) predicts that with, against, despite, and even without the global pandemic, the medical technology (MedTech) industry shows signs of continuous healthy growth, driven by smaller, faster, and cheaper devices, growing demand for home-based applications, technological innovation, strategic acquisitions, investments, and SPAC listings. MCG predicts that this should reflects itself in annual growth of over 6%, well beyond 2028.
According to Chris Mouchabhani, Managing Partner at M Capital Group, “Despite all economic scenarios that one may consider, beyond overall economic shocks, medical technology should remain one of the most promising and robust sectors over the short to medium term and well beyond 2028.”
There is a movement towards home-based care for the elderly, next generation scanning and MRI devices, wearable technology, artificial intelligence incorporation, and online connectivity. Experts also see a focus on predictive, preventive, personalized, participatory, and precision medicine, with rising levels of integration of home care and technological innovation.
The average cost of treatment has been rising across the board, creating additional financial burdens to governments, healthcare providers and insurance companies. According to MCG, cost-per-inpatient-stay in the United States alone rose on average annually by over 13% between 2014 to 2021, leading MedTech to focus research efforts on optimized medical equipment at lower price points, whilst emphasizing portability and ease of use. Namely, 46% of the 1,008 medical technology companies in the 2021 MedTech Innovator (“MTI”) database are focusing on prevention, wellness, detection, or diagnosis, signaling a clear push for preventive care to also tackle costs.
In addition, there has also been a lasting impact on consumer and medical demand for home care, supported by the pandemic. Lockdowns, closure of care facilities, and healthcare systems subjected to capacity pressure, accelerated demand away from traditional inpatient care. Now, outpatient care solutions are driving industry production, with nearly 70% of recent diagnostics start-up companies producing products in areas such as ambulatory clinics, at-home care, and self-administered diagnostics.

The Importance of Community Nursing Care.pdfAD Healthcare
NDIS and Community 24/7 Nursing Care is a specific type of support that may be provided under the NDIS for individuals with complex medical needs who require ongoing nursing care in a community setting, such as their home or a supported accommodation facility.
2. Youth sexual violence refers to violent sexual
acts that are directed toward children and young
adults. The CDC references youth sexual violence
as follows, “Sexual Violence is a significant
problem in the United States. SV refers to sexual
activity where consent is not obtained or freely
given. Anyone can experience SV, but most
victims are female. The person responsible for
the violence is typically male and is usually
someone known to the victim. The person can
be, but is not limited to, a friend, coworker,
neighbor, or family member.”
3. College women are more at risk than other age group, however, by the
time youth enter high school, they have already been exposed to a range
of experiences related to both sexual activity and sexual violence. A study
has shown that half the population of youth in 9th-12th grade have
engaged in some sort of sexual activity.
• The ultimate goal of the school nurse is prevention of violence and the
prioritization of safety for students, staff and the school community as a whole.
This involves providing education to the school community in problem solving and
conflict resolution, recognizing early warning signs that lead to violence and factors
outside of theskills school setting that might predispose a child to violent behavior
or threaten students’ safety. School nurses have the expertise to assist students in
developing problem‐solving and conflict resolution techniques, coping and anger
management skills, and positive self‐images. School nurses are able to serve on
school safety and curriculum committees, identifying, advocating and
implementing prevention programs within the school community. School nurses
possess the knowledge to be active members of crisis intervention teams to
address violent situations in the school setting.
4. What is being done? Unfortunately, little is known about what works to
prevent sexual violence. To date, only one prevention program, Safe Dates,
has been shown in a randomized controlled trial to prevent or interrupt sexual
violence perpetration. Here is an excerpt from www.hazelden.org,” Highly
engaging and interactive, Safe Dates helps teens recognize the difference
between caring, supportive relationships and controlling, manipulative, or
abusive dating relationships. Designated as a Model Program by the Substance
Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. In 2006, Safe Dates was
selected for the National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices
(NREPP), and received high ratings on all criteria.”
Another valuable resource for information on prevention of youth sexual
violence is the CDC. The CDC uses a 4-step approach to address public health
problems like sexual violence:
1. Define the problem
2. Identify risk and protective factors
3. Develop and test prevention strategies
4. Assure widespread adoption
The ultimate goal is to stop sexual violence before it begins
5. There is a myriad of resources that nurses can
reference and share with their patients. Some
include:
