Building Information Modeling (BIM) creates virtual, intelligent 3D models of buildings that contain more information than traditional 2D drawings. BIM models define all building components and integrate nongraphic data, allowing users to access schedules, renderings, walkthroughs, and other information directly from the model. As the model is updated, all linked data and files update as well, reducing errors. BIM will benefit many University departments by providing a shared information resource to improve planning, operations, safety, and more.
