While the way of life known as Islam continues as the world’s most populace religion—the traditional undercounting of Muslims by western statisticians notwithstanding—the availability of useful Islamic information that speaks to the needs of both practicing Muslims as well as interested others has struggled to keep pace with the expanding community. Ironically, the post-9/11 frenzy that has gripped western societies with an uncommon and often irrational loathing for global Islam has, simultaneously, piqued the interest of more inquisitive, pensive non-Muslim westerners whose skepticism of mass media accounts of predatory Islamic “extremists” and “America haters” doesn’t match with their personal experiences of the Muslims they encounter in their neighborhoods, in their classrooms, or on their jobs.
Shedding light on the status of the women in Islam, this book explains that women were ill-treated and humiliated in many cultures and how Islam put an end to all this injustice, gave women their proper status.
This humble work is a compilation of our short articles that were published
in online news portals. In realizing the importance of the message carried in
the articles, as authors, we have decided to publish them in a book format.
The language of this book has been made easy for everyone’s read, especially
students. The topics discussed in this book are mainly on the contemporary
issues of the Muslim World.
As academicians of the Department of Fundamental and Inter-Disciplinary
Studies at IIUM, we teach subjects related to Islamic Worldview, Islamic
Civilization, Ethics, Creative Thinking and the current state of affairs in the
Muslim World. In many places in the book, you will find mention of the
Golden Age of the Muslims (750-1258) and the reasons behind the fall of the
Islamic Civilization which started with the fall of Baghdad in 1258. From there
on, one after another all Muslim empires fell inviting a host of many other
problems into the Muslim World. After the colonization of the Muslim lands till
today, the Muslim World is lagging behind others in the areas of science,
technology and good governance. In order to fix these pressing issues, the
Muslim World needs less politicking and more thinking.
Besides dwelling on the glorious past of the Muslim Civilization, we have
also discussed contemporary issues like the brain drain phenomenon, matters
of spirituality, human rights violation, co-existence, an idealism for world
peace, the political turmoil in the Middle East that led to the Muslim diasporic
community in the West, etc.
Lastly, the aim of this humble work is not to create a reef between Muslims
and others, but it is a call for coexistence that can create a better world for
humanity where people live abiding by the philosophy of loving, caring and
sharing.

3. 1. The Duties of a Mother
A mother is required to become endowed with
moral education.
She must have basic Islamic knowledge which
will guide her and her progeny to the right
pathway.
Fostering her children in the dynamic way so
that all sorts of challenges can face vigorously.
4. 2. The Duties of a Wife to Her Husband

make them educated and skilled manpower.

women collecting it from the rich.
7. 5. To Be a Best Leader of Community and
Duties
Khadija (R.A) was a successful runner of her business.
In the one hand, Aisha (R.A) was the greatest woman scholar
among the women companions of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.),
on the other hand, she was a commander in the battle field like
battle of camel.
They can be appointed in some sectors such as head of any

10. 8.To Be a Best Researcher and an
Author
In the Muslim world, the number of Muslim women
researchers and authors are very few compared to the
Western world.
Western world educated their women equally along
with their men that helped them to bring progress in
every sector of their society and state.
Muslim women can contribute to education writing
more poems, noble, Islamic song and texbooks so that
existing gaps can be filled up.
11. 9. To Be a Best Economist and Duties
Crisis of Muslim women economists among the
Muslim world compared to men.
For the rapid advancement of Ummah in every
field, best economists from Muslim women are
significantly required.
In case of teaching Islamic economics,
involvement of women is very poor.
12. 10. To Be a Best businesswoman and

• Lack of businesswoman in the Muslim society. When woman involves

himself has been appointed as a business runner.
13. 11. To Be a Best Islamic scholar and
Da’yee
According to the ration of men scholars, the
number of women scholar is very few.
To build a strong Ummah, women scholar is very
much more needed.
Muslim women are the first teacher of their
children from where Muslim children’s basement
is grown up! Muslim Ummah lacks women
scholar like Aisha (r.a.) Zaynab Al-Ghazzali,
Mariam Jameela and so on.
14. 12. To Be a Best Scientist and Engineer
Islam is a scientific and pragmatic religion where
it covers all spheres of human life from cradle to
the grave.

countries, the role of Muslim women is not

women scientists and engineers are also

(3) Professor Farkhonda Hassan now 80 years old but quite active (at least until very recently), is an
Egyptian professor of Geology .
(4) Noble laureate Tawakkol Karaman from Yemen.
16. 14. Conclusion
In order to bring back the lost golden
civilization of Islam; Muslim women should
come forward making themselves perfect
and challenging the modern obstacles and
joining the building of Ummah otherwise,
pertinent result will never come into
existence!
