How to Implement Micro Frontend Architecture using Angular FrameworkRapidValue
Micro-frontends are small applications mostly divided by subdomain or functionality working together to deliver a larger application. Sometimes your frontend app might be a small part of another big application or your app consists a lot of sections and features which are developed by different teams or your app is being released into production feature by feature with developed by separate teams. If you are in one of these situations then you need to think about Micro Frontends. For more information visit: https://www.rapidvaluesolutions.com/
Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

11. HTML Overview
HTML is the content and structure of a webpage
It's the skeleton of your website.
bit.ly/instagram-dc
12. HTML tags
Every tag starts with a "less than" sign and ends
with a "greater than" sign
<html> #an HTML opening tag
<body> #a body opening tag
<h1>Hello, World!</h1>
#a set of h1 tags with content
</body> #a body closing tag
</html> #an HTML closing tag
bit.ly/instagram-dc
13. More about HTML tags
There are opening tags and closing tags - closing
tags have a backslash before the tag name
(</html>)
Tags instruct a browser about the structure of
our website
There are hundreds of built-in tags but you'll
use the same few a lot
bit.ly/instagram-dc
14. HTML attributes
HTML attributes set properties on an element -
they are set in the opening tag
href is an attribute that sets the destination of a link
<a href="https://somewhere.com">This is
a link</a>
id is another attribute that identifies elements
(for CSS & JavaScript)
<h1 id="headline">This is a headline</h1>
bit.ly/instagram-dc
15. Basic functions
A function lets you separate your code into bite-
sized pieces which you can use over and over again.
When you write a function to use later, you are
"declaring" it. When you use (or run) that function
you are "calling" it.
bit.ly/instagram-dc
17. More about basic functions
Functions can save us time because we use them
over and over in code. They are building blocks.
Make your code more organized and easier to read
JavaScript has many built-in functions
You'll write many, many functions in your
programs
bit.ly/instagram-dc
18. Let's work through the rest of the HTML
<body>
<img id="my-image" src="test-image.png">
<br>
<button onClick="revertFilter()">Revert Filter</button>
<button onClick="applyFilter()">Apply Filter</button>
</body>
bit.ly/instagram-dc
19. JavaScript overview
<script type="text/javascript" src="index.js"></script>
If HTML is the skeleton of a website, JavaScript is the
brains. JavaScript controls the behavior of our app.
We'll write our JavaScript in the index.js file.
We'll then import the file using similar syntax.
bit.ly/instagram-dc
20. Adding our functions to index.js
function revertFilter(){
//add code here
}
function applyFilter(){
//add code here
}
bit.ly/instagram-dc
21. What is a third-party library?
In Javascript, we use third-party libraries to do cool
things. A third-party library is a JavaScript file that
contains a bunch of functions that someone else wrote
for us. There are a ton of these in every language.
bit.ly/instagram-dc
23. Importing the CamanJS library
The CamanJS library is included in your starter code.
Import it at the top of your index.html file using the
syntax above.
<script type="text/javascript" src="caman.full.min.js"></script>
bit.ly/instagram-dc
24. Documentation
How do we know what functions we can use? We could
look at the library source file, if it's short, or better, we
could look at the documentation.
All common libraries will have documentation with a list
of available functions and/or real-world examples.
bit.ly/instagram-dc
25. Note
A core part of being a developer is constantly learning
new languages, tools, libraries, and frameworks. They
will all be documented and you should get used to
finding answers through these resources.
bit.ly/instagram-dc
27. Our functions
The correct function is "called" when a button is clicked
function revertFilter(){
Caman('#my-image', function() {
this.revert();
});
}
function applyFilter(){
Caman('#my-image', function() {
this.brightness(10);
this.contrast(30);
this.sepia(60);
this.saturation(-30);
this.render();
});
}
bit.ly/instagram-dc
28. Challenge #1
Change out the example image with your own
image
Adjust the filter values in the example code to
update the filter
Make your own filter with at least one new
property (hint: look at built-in functionality)
bit.ly/instagram-dc
29. Challenge #2
Instead of making your own, use a built-in filter.
Here's a full list:
vintage, lomo, clarity, sinCity, sunrise,
crossProcess, orangePeel, love, grungy,
barques, pinhole, oldBoot, glowingSun,
hazyDays, herMajest, nostalgia,
hemingway, concentrate
function applyFilter() {
Caman('#my-image', function() {
this['vintage']();
this.render();
});
}
bit.ly/instagram-dc
30. Challenge #3 (Advanced)
Add more buttons, each one should add only one filter
Try cropping your pictures to different sized frames
