This document provides instructions for learners completing an external assessment task to produce a media product for an exhibition on the relationship between music and youth subcultures. Learners have 12 weeks to complete preparatory work and 30 hours of supervised work. They must choose one of four briefs to complete: a 2-3 minute video, a 2-3 minute audio piece, a 2-3 page website, or a 3-page digital publication. The document outlines what must be included in the media product for the chosen brief and how the work should be submitted.
The document summarizes key findings from Ofcom's 2014 report on children and parents' media use and attitudes. It finds that tablet ownership and use has increased significantly among children of all ages. Children are almost twice as likely to go online using a tablet compared to 2013. However, access to the internet via PC/laptop has declined. Older children spend more time online and prefer mobile phones for social activities. Gender differences are also evident from an early age in media preferences and how parents monitor activities.

Film finance involves determining the commercial viability of a film project during development prior to production. It is a subset of project finance that relies on the film's revenue rather than external sources to repay investors. Producers assemble a package including the script, budget, and director/cast details to pitch to potential financial backers. If research suggests sufficient audience interest, the film receives funding to proceed to production. Distribution then markets and circulates the completed film to theaters and home viewers to generate returns for the studio, producers, and investors.

This document introduces the interface and basics of Autodesk 3ds Max. It discusses the main functions of 3ds Max which include modeling, animation, and rendering. It describes the opening screen and importing files. It also explains how to set up the units and customize the interface. The interface is button-based and contains toolbars for common functions like selecting, moving, and scaling objects. It uses multiple viewports to see the model from different angles. The modeling workspace allows creating and modifying shapes and figures. Rendering involves using materials, lights, and the render setup to produce photorealistic images of the 3D scene. The material editor is used to customize and apply materials to objects to control their appearance when rendered.
This document discusses multi-camera filming techniques. It begins by defining multi-camera as using multiple cameras to film an event from different angles. It then provides an example of the BBC comedy show "Mock the Week" and how multiple cameras are used to film different shots and areas. The document also covers visual style, communicating meaning to viewers, constraints of the studio space, the history of multi-camera filming, advantages and disadvantages, roles in a multi-camera production, equipment used, and the author's own role in a multi-camera student production, which involved setting up equipment and taking turns filming.
This document provides an overview of 3D computer animation, including a brief history, definitions, benefits, software used, careers, and examples. Lesson 1 - an introduction to multicamera filming techniquesiain bruce
This document discusses multi-camera productions, which involve filming events or programs using multiple cameras simultaneously to capture different angles of the action. There are two main types - live events like concerts, sports and ceremonies, and studio programs like game shows, talk shows and sitcoms. Using multiple cameras allows productions to reduce time and costs by not needing to reshoot from different angles or edit footage together later. It also keeps viewers engaged by providing varied visuals and coverage of unfolding events from diverse perspectives. Multi-camera techniques are particularly useful for capturing live productions in a single take and building emotional connections through reactions shots.

Improving 180 Blackboard Sites in 180 Days - Christian King & Sandra Thwaites...Blackboard APAC
At many universities, the Blackboard subject site is the primary interface for the student learning experience. If the site is poorly organised, students do not know how to navigate the learning experience, such as when to engage with what content. If assessment criteria are minimally indicated, the quality of submissions suffers. If no tools are used to foster interaction, the learning experience becomes isolating. Conversely, when Bb sites are effectively designed and maintained, the quality of the student learning experience tends to be high. The quality of Bb sites varies across universities and within programs of study. Students who experience a well-designed site in their first semesters come to expect this standard in subsequent semesters.
Bond University thereby undertook a whole-of-university strategic priority project to improve 180 Bb subject sites in 180 days. Associate Deans (Learning & Teaching) in each faculty selected the sites. The initial quality of the sites varied, with many assessed as initially high quality, meaning that improvement meant moving from strength to strength and focusing on elements such as increasing elements of technology enhanced learning. The co-facilitators of this presentation are the academic developers who worked one-on-one with each of the participating academics. Therefore, from their perspectives, the key takeaways for attending delegates will be:
- Identification of challenges and stumbling blocks, as well as success strategies
- Checklists and professional development materials
- Illustration of before and after improvements as exemplars
- Ideas for increasing elements of technology enhanced learning
- Templates for emails, announcements and other communications

Instructions to Teachers/Tutors
The set task will be released eight weeks prior to the submission of the final outcomes.
Learners are required to develop and create a digital media product in response to the
defined brief.
The eight weeks for the external assessment task must include a preparatory stage and
20 hours of supervised assessment activity. The 20 hours of supervised assessment will
consist of five hours for Activity 1 and 15 hours for Activity 2.
Prior to the 20 hours of formal supervision there will be up to five hours of monitored
preparation sessions. These sessions must be scheduled by the centre. Within this time
learners should be provided with the opportunity to conduct independent activities such
as reviewing the information provided in this booklet, conducting independent research
and sourcing assets for Activity 2.
Learners must work independently and must not be given guidance or feedback on the
completion of the preparatory work.
The monitored preparatory stage must be completed prior to the supervised period of
assessment. Only the assets sourced in the monitored sessions may be used during the
supervised assessment. Learners must not have access to pre-prepared assets.
During the five hours of monitored preparation sessions, teachers/tutors and/or
invigilators should note that:
• learners are allowed access to computers with internet access and specialist software
• learners should not be given any direct guidance or prepared materials
• learners should not be given any support in sourcing assets
• all work must be completed independently by the learner
• learner assets should be retained by the centre between the monitored sessions and
the formal supervised assessment.
There are two activities within the set task. These are taken under 20 hours of formal
supervision.
Activity 1: Create assets
Activity 2: Prepare, edit and manipulate assets and create/build a media product
Learners must not work as part of a group. Learners must create their own individual
product. However, during the five hours for Activity 1, learners may enlist the help of
others to create material, for example as an interviewee, as a model, in an acting role.
The set task is a formal external assessment and must be conducted with reference to the
instructions in this booklet and the BTEC Nationals Instructions for Conducting External
Assessments (ICEA) document to ensure that the supervised assessment is conducted
correctly and that learners submit evidence that is their own work.

Maintaining security during the formal supervision period
• The assessment areas must only be accessible to the individual learners and to
named members of staff.
• Centres are responsible for putting in place appropriate checks to ensure that only
permitted material is introduced into the supervised environment.
• Learners can only access their work under supervision.
• Any work learners produce under supervision must be kept securely.
• During any permitted break and at the end of the session materials must be kept
securely and no items removed from the supervised environment.
• Centres must retain and safely secure learner assets, which can be requested by
Pearson if there is suspected malpractice.
After the formal supervised period, the teacher/tutor and/or invigilator will confirm that
all learner work produced during the supervised sessions were completed independently
as part of the authentication submitted to Pearson.
Outcomes for submission
Each learner must submit the following on a USB storage device:
• a folder of created assets
• a completed media product corresponding to a chosen brief
• a digital, annotated portfolio.
Each learner must complete an authentication sheet.

Instructions for Learners
Read the set task information carefully.

production.
You can only take your sourced assets into the formally supervised sessions. At this stage,
you are not creating assets.
The set task has two activities taken under 20 hours of formal supervision.
The assets for Activity 1 should be saved in a folder. You will submit a digital annotated
portfolio of evidence for Activity 1 and Activity 2. You must also submit a media product.
