We are Batang Sidewalk Ministries, Inc.
and our vision is to bring
change to every street corner
or as we say in Filipino:
Pagbabago sa Bawat Kanto.
Our Vision
Pagbabago. Change. REAL change. We believe this is only possible
through the Gospel of King Jesus. That is why week after week,
our leaders and teachers tirelessly and enthusiastically bring
the message of Jesus Christ’s goodness to urban poor
communities across southern Metro Manila and beyond.
What began with one woman sharing her own time and resources with
a handful of kids has now become a fully-equipped children’s ministry
impacting the lives of over ten thousand kids, teens, and young adults.
We have witnessed the Lord’s faithfulness over the past 25 years and
we look forward to partnering with you for the next 25 years and more.
Our Mission
To TEACH the Word of God faithfully to urban poor communities
through our Batang Sidewalk Children’s Ministry.
To TRAIN Batang Sidewalk leaders and teachers
through skills development, mentorship, and discipleship.
To TRANSFORM the lives of our leaders, teachers,
and their families through scholarship grants.
2 3
“...Until I declare your power to the next generation,
your mighty acts to all who are to come.” (Psalm 71:18)
“Whatever you do to the least of my brethren, you’ve done it to me.”
(Matthew 25:40)
This has always been at the heart of Batang Sidewalk Ministries: To bring the
Good News of Jesus to the next generation, and to uplift them from poverty
through education.
We are grateful to God for the opportunity to partner with this ministry and
to see thousands of lives changed and families and communities transformed
by the power of Jesus Christ. From its humble beginnings reaching a handful
of children, this ministry has grown and now reaches over 8,000 children in
various sites of Metro Manila and beyond. And yet much more needs to be
done because there are still hundreds of thousands of children that need to
hear that God our Father has a loving purpose for their lives.
To the many ministry partners: Your investment in the lives of these children
is recorded in heaven and will surely be rewarded.
To the scholars: Pursue your dream, but always remember, it is the Lord who
has graciously given you the abilities and opportunities to make it happen.
To the Batang Sidewalk Staff and Ministry Team: This is my prayer and
declaration for you all: “May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon
you all and bless the work of your hands.” (Psalm 90:17)
Rev. Albert Clavo
Senior Pastor
Beginnings Church Makati
Greetings!
My father, “Daddy Q the Great” passed away this year. He accomplished many
things with his life, but one of the greatest in his estimation was the opportunity
to be a partner with Batang Sidewalk Ministries from its very inception.
I feel the same way. I have never seen a ministry as robust and fruitful.
Lost people receive the gospel. Entire families are redeemed and hundreds
and thousands of young people have been discipled to maturity.
It has been so fulfilling to watch an entire generation of young leaders
arise and follow Jesus and all the opportunities that he brings to them.
Sherry and I commend all of you for your faithfulness and your courage.
Courage doesn’t mean that you are not afraid. It means that you do your mission,
even though you are afraid. I know there have been some moments along the
way that have been extremely difficult, but you have persevered.
The reward for this, we can all see in the success and stability of the ministry today.
This is all a testament to God’s faithfulness. When we do our part, He will always do
His and even more. He pours out grace to cover our weaknesses and He supplies
all of our needs. He always has, and He always will.
Blessings to Sam and Joan, and all the other leaders who have been faithful for
so very many years. May God reward all of you for your faithfulness to Him and
your love for the poor. Sherry and I love you! Congratulations!

As one of the pastors who has witnessed the hard work you do in the ministry
and your faithfulness to the calling God has given you, I am writing to you
today to celebrate our 25th anniversary, as one who has been with you since
the beginning. I am so proud of the work that you have done over the years to
transform the lives of children here in South Manila and beyond.
I remember well the early days of Batang Sidewalk Ministries, when you were
just a nascent organization with a big dream. You didn’t give up. You worked
hard and you never lost sight of your vision.
Over the years, you have grown into a powerful ministry that is reaching and
transforming communities. You have helped thousands of children find a place
to belong, get an education, and learn biblical values. You have also helped
them develop a sense of purpose and hope for the future.
I pray for your continued success. May the Lord continue to use you to transform
lives and to bring hope to the hopeless. May Batang Sidewalk Ministries always
be a place where children can find love, support, and the opportunity to reach
their full potential.
Thank you for all that you do.
Pastor Samuel Luciano
2pm / BSMI Pastor
Lighthouse Christian Community
“The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart
from generation to generation.” (Psalm 33:1)
A key to an impactful life is consistency. The willingness to show up day after day;
the courage to keep at it despite the changing seasons of life; the heart to stick
to the mission even when others do not, cannot, and will not.
BSMI is one consistent ministry. It has been subjected to the major shakings of
life’s tests. Sis. Joan a.k.a. Supremo caught the vision from God, and she could
not let go of it. She did not count to walk away from the vision. Through the
years, the Lord has crowned her efforts with much anointing, and fruitfulness.
Lives upon lives have been changed, and more hearts heard the same call
na bitbit ang “pagbabago sa bawat kanto.”
On BSMI’s 25th
anniversary, our prayers are lifted that countless more lives shall
be ushered to God’s kingdom and more young people shall see the grand vision
of being transformed from zero to hero!
Unto Jesus be all praises for the Batang Sidewalk Ministries!

Section Title
As we gather to celebrate the 25th anniversary of our Sidewalk ministry,
I am filled with profound gratitude and an overwhelming sense of
accomplishment. What began as a humble endeavor to bring positive
change to a few has blossomed into a movement that touches every
street corner, heart, and future. This journey has been nothing short of
remarkable, and it is an honor to share this milestone with our supporters,
partners, students, and friends.
The belief that God utilizes the ordinary to achieve the extraordinary
resonates profoundly, as highlighted in 1 Corinthians 1:27: “Instead, God
chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who
think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame
those who are powerful.” (NLT)
As a household helper in Ayala Alabang 25 years ago, I never could have
imagined that God would call me to this ministry. However, as I heeded
the call, God provided the tools, resources, empowerment, and people
needed to fulfill His plans.
Our vision and path were sculpted by prayer and the unwavering
support of those who share our passion for a better world. From the
start, our objective was clear: to bring change to every street corner.
Today, that vision has become a reality: a testament to teamwork,
dedication, and God’s power.
From teaching five children, we are now ministering to 10,000 street kids
who hear the word of God weekly. Our aim to train five street kids as
teachers of the Word has increased to over 100 young volunteers from the
streets now teaching God’s Word every week.
The educational sponsorship that started with five street kids has yielded
53 college graduates with degrees, with three among them now pastoring
a church. Currently, our sponsorship program supports 58 students.
My role isn’t just about educating street kids; it’s about nurturing them as
faith-filled believers and practitioners. I aim to cultivate future educators,
leaders, and disciplers, a mission that has led to the appointment of a
director in each of the six cities where we minister.

Congratulations, Sidewalk Ministries, on 25 incredibly fruitful years!
Seeing what God has done and how He has used and continues to use
this ministry is unbelievable. I can remember visiting Sidewalk for the
first time in 2007. That visit has made such an impact on my life. I felt
compelled to be a part of Sidewalk in whatever way I could. I am still
amazed with every visit how the teachers, leaders, and scholars work with
such passion and dedication. They truly are superheroes in blue shirts.
To the Sidewalk supporters...thank you!
Not everyone can wear the blue shirts and do what this team does.
But you are adding fuel to the tank behind the scenes to make this thing
run. Thank you for sacrificing over the years to help change the lives of
young people. You are raising up superheroes.
To the Sidewalk teachers and scholars...you are my heroes.
I am in awe of your sacrifice and dedication. Keep fighting the good fight.
It is a joy to work with you and watch you grow into amazing men and
women of God. I am so proud of all of you. I tell everyone I know about
the incredible heroes wearing blue shirts. You really are unbelievable,
and I try to bring as many people with me to see you in action.
Keep up the amazing work. You are changing lives and rewriting stories.
Ate Joan and Pastor Sam, thank you for being obedient to the call of
God. I am proud to call you my friends, and thank you for letting me be
a small part of this journey with you. I’m excited for the next 25 years.
Let’s GO!

For this 25th anniversary, I honor the pillars that have upheld
our mission over the years:
Dr. Chuck and Mom Sherry, your unwavering wisdom, trust,
prayers, and ever-encouraging words have been a constant
source of inspiration and guidance.
To the late Daddy Q., you believed in me, trusted in me,
and played a central role in my journey.
To the late Ptr. Saniel Pura, your consistent affirmation of
my calling to children’s ministry has been pivotal.
To my Senior Pastor, Ptr. Jojo B., your spiritual guidance I deeply value.
To my beloved husband, Sam L., Your unwavering support,
love, and encouragement have anchored me.
To our esteemed sponsors, partners, and supporters,
You have not only provided financial aid but have kindled hope
and opportunity for countless individuals.
To the dedicated members of our Board of Trustees, your enduring
commitment has illuminated our path, guiding us through thick and thin.
To our sponsored students, You embody perseverance,
determination, and the belief that education is key to change.
And finally, to our diligent Batang Sidewalk staff, teachers,
and leaders, your tireless dedication serves as the bedrock upon
which our achievements have been built.
From the 25 years of purpose and impact that we have woven together,
we now set our gaze to the future we are forging. This path forward shines
with promise, adorned with lessons learned, lives forever transformed,
and our mutual dedication to creating real and enduring change.
With profound gratitude and anticipation, I look forward to working
with you all in reaping an even greater harvest in God’s vineyard.

The old, bad habits I had were changed;
I learned more about what is right.
It’s important that I finish my studies so
I can help my family and others.
GRADE 10 - Las Piñas City
I developed a relationship with the Lord and
because of this, my faith in Him grew stronger.
It’s important that I finish my studies because that
will be my key to unlocking the good future
that our Lord Jesus has prepared for me.
GRADE 9 - Las Piñas City

the Lord to my neighbors and friends.
So that I can fulfill my dreams and
we can rise above our poverty.

GRADE 10 - Las Piñas City
I learned that there is a God who has saved me
from my sin, a Father who has a plan for each and
every person’s life, and a Lord who will never leave
or forsake us.
It’s important that I finish my studies so that I can
follow the plans that the Lord has made for me.
GRADE 9 - Las Piñas City
Faith does not make things easy, it makes them
possible, as seen in Luke 1:37.
We don’t have to think about what others say
or how they judge us when we serve God,
because it’s not them we serve but the Lord.
I want to repay my parents for all their hard work,
and not just live for myself.
GRADE 10 - Las Piñas City
Finishing school is important to me because I want to
help my family. And not just them; when I become
successful in life, I want to help others as well.
Morales, Elaijah
Recto, Melaika
Sabinorio, Monica Trisha
GRADE 9 - Las Piñas City
I saw that God was changing my life little by little,
especially in how I dealt with others.
I want to do well in school so I can help my family
and pay them back for all they have done for me.
GRADE 10 - Muntinlupa City
I used to believe in luck. But when I met God,
I realized that no matter how lucky you are,
if something isn’t part of the Lord’s plan, then it isn’t
for you. However, He has a better plan for you,
and it is more than what you could wish for.
I want to do well in school so I can help my family
and fulfill my dreams in life with them. I also want to
find a good job so we can have our house fixed.
My mama won’t have such a difficult time in life,
and she won’t need to go back to the province.
GRADE 9 - Las Piñas City
I learned how to share the word of God with
children, how to get along well with other people,
and can now apply for myself the lessons that
I teach others every Saturday.
I want to finish school so that I can fulfill
my dreams and help my family.

GRADE 12 - Muntinlupa City
After I encountered Jesus, my perspective on all
aspects of life has changed. Previously, my response
to the storms of life was predominantly negative.
However, now I no longer easily succumb to fear
because I know that Jesus is with me in every storm.
Whatever struggle I face, I lift it up to the Lord.
I have transformed from a worrier into a warrior!
GRADE 11 - Mindoro
The Lord made me realize that after all the hardships
our family went through, I need to trust Him.
When I discovered that my mama had cancer,
I prayed so many times. But at the end of the day
all I can do is trust Him. By God’s grace, mom is still
with us three years later, which is rare for those with
cancer as serious as hers. Until now, I still don’t know
the reason why this happened to us, but I will remain
still and trust in Him always.
GRADE 11 - Las Piñas City
In this world, you will have trouble. The world is
fallen and your world will be shaken. While it is in
the process of being restored by Christ, you can
experience suffering but trust the Lord. Trust your
Lord. If you’re experiencing your lowest point in life,
don’t give up because God is preparing something
good for you that you can’t even imagine.

I want my family to have a better life and
I want to be a channel of blessing to others.
Obtaining a degree can have a big impact on your
life. You can get a better job and have a stable life.
GRADE 11 - Muntinlupa City
Education helps us realize the truth and serves
as a way for us to achieve our dreams. Nothing is
permanent in the world, but if there is one thing
that can help, it’s being educated.
Elin Nordegren said, “Education is one thing no one
can take away from you” so for me, finishing school
is a privilege, because it gives me a chance to reach
for my dreams and become successful someday.
GRADE 11 - Muntinlupa City
It is important that I finish my studies so that

GRADE 12 - Las Piñas City
Before, I used to go to church because it meant I
could go out and have fun. But after attending the
2019 camp, I continued going to church because I
wanted to praise God and I learned to respect those
older than me.
I want to finish school because I want my parents
to experience a peaceful life, one where they don’t
have to think about their expenses, and I want to
help other Batang Sidewalk kids, too.
GRADE 12 - Cavite
The way that I view my life has changed ever since
my siblings invited me to attend a service in LCC
and join the Batang Sidewalk ministry. Since then,
my perspective has gradually changed. The bad
things I used to do, the things I shouldn’t have done,
I stopped. I thank the Lord for not abandoning me.
GRADE 11 - Muntinlupa City

I learned that no matter how hard life
is, the Lord is with us and will help us
overcome our hardships. Also, I’m not
just living for myself and my dreams.
Education will be my foundation for
the future, because as the years go by,
this will be the standard upon which
people measure their status in life against.
When I encountered the Lord, I knew
that He took away many things from me,
especially the characteristics that did not
please Him, such as lying, anger, and my
love for material things. If there’s one
thing that the Lord has taken away from
me that I’m really happy about, it is my
negative attitude. He gave me a positive
attitude, a clean heart, and good wishes
for my family and myself.

My outlook on life changed ever since I

It is very important that I graduate

Everything I do has a goal and now God

But He did not give up on me. The first

entering His church. The Lord took away
my pride and gave me a patient and

How to Support Batang Sidewalk
Here are ways you can participate in what God is doing through
Batang Sidewalk Ministries, Inc.
1. PRAYER
This ministry would not have grown nor would it impact the lives of people in
such a powerful way were it not for the power of prayer. As Jesus said:
Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified
in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. (John 14:13-14)
So that God may be glorified,
please pray with us for the
following:
Guidance, Protection, and
Blessings for the volunteers
and staff as we navigate the path
ahead, as well as ample resources
to sustain the ministry’s outreach
efforts, continuous growth, and
positive impact on individuals
and families.
Profound Transformation in the
lives of the countless children,
families, and communities
who will encounter the Gospel
through Batang Sidewalk
Ministries.
Faithfulness to Jesus and
Empowerment for our scholars
so they can successfully complete
their studies, achieve their
dreams, and become agents
of change in their families and
communities, as a testimony to
God’s grace and glory.
Prayer Requests for 2024
1. To train and raise up 100 more
volunteers by conducting teachers
training every quarter.
2. To have a BSMI leadership and
ministry manual.
3. To be a PCNC accredited
organization.
4. To raise funds for 100 more
upstanding volunteers for their
school expenses.
5. To write a BSMI Teaching
curriculum.
Prayer Requests for the Next 5 years
1. To have a BSMI Center in every city
of NCR.
2. GO SIDEWALK in EVERY REGION
-- partnering with 20 churches in
different regions of the Philippines.
3. To have a researcher for the
development of BSMI in terms of
new strategy and new techniques.
4. To produce professionals that will
strive to lend a hand to financially
challenged but deserving
communities.
2. FINANCIAL SUPPORT
A. SPONSOR A SITE - Our team currently visits 59 urban poor community
sites every Saturday. There are opportunities to expand to over a dozen more
locations, but this growth requires increased manpower and organizational
costs in order to be financially sustainable. You can help us to reach out to more
communities with God’s message of hope and transformation by sponsoring a
site with your regular financial contribution.
B. SUPPORT A SCHOLAR - Our student leaders were prayerfully chosen to
receive scholarships from among the hundreds of young people who come
from low-income and urban poor families. These responsible and capable youth
have embraced their role in Batang Sidewalk Ministries mission and have shown
promise and commitment when it comes to building their future. With a regular
monthly or yearly contribution, you can send a student leader to school and
directly help in empowering them and their family to rise out of poverty.
C. SUSTAIN THE MINISTRY - Your one-time gift of any amount can help
Batang Sidewalk Ministries, Inc. sustain and expand our mission to reach more
sites within southern Metro Manila and beyond. Your partnership with us in the
Gospel enables many children to reach their full potential and empowers them
as the future agents of change that our society needs today.
For more information, email us: batangsidewalk@gmail.com
3. LOCAL
CHURCH
PARTNERSHIP
We have partnered with
several churches to bring
Batang Sidewalk Ministries
to different urban poor
communities in Metro Manila
and the Visayan region.
If you are part of a local church
and would like to bring the
Batang Sidewalk Ministries
to your community, please
contact us!
OTHERS
In the recent past, we’ve had people
donate ipads and laptops to our student
leaders, celebrate their birthdays in our
ministry sites, or even do a feeding and
gift-giving event for several neighboring
sites at the same time!
If you have other ideas on how to bless
the children, young people, and families
in the urban poor communities that we
minister to, please contact us. We would
love to hear what you have in mind!
The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you,
whatever you did for one of the least of
these brothers and sisters of mine, you
did for me.’ Matthew 25:40

We have been able to maximize our impact with minimum costs
because of these factors:
• Non-Monetary Giving, such as donating 2nd hand gadgets
or sponsorship of schools supplies or professional services)
• Community partners to give their skills, time, resources,
facilities, especially when they cannot give financially
• Talented volunteer teachers who use
recycled materials creatively to teach
kids every week. Students are not
attracted by fancy curriculum but
to the passion of our workers and
their heart give back to their
communities and invest in the
next generation.

Our Vision Pagbabago. Change. REAL change. We believe this is only possible through the Gospel of King Jesus. That is why week after week, our leaders and teachers tirelessly and enthusiastically bring the message of Jesus Christ’s goodness to urban poor communities across southern Metro Manila and beyond. What began with one woman sharing her own time and resources with a handful of kids has now become a fully-equipped children’s ministry impacting the lives of over ten thousand kids, teens, and young adults. We have witnessed the Lord’s faithfulness over the past 25 years and we look forward to partnering with you for the next 25 years and more. Our Mission To TEACH the Word of God faithfully to urban poor communities through our Batang Sidewalk Children’s Ministry. To TRAIN Batang Sidewalk leaders and teachers through skills development, mentorship, and discipleship. To TRANSFORM the lives of our leaders, teachers, and their families through scholarship grants.
  • 3. 2 3 “...Until I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.” (Psalm 71:18) “Whatever you do to the least of my brethren, you’ve done it to me.” (Matthew 25:40) This has always been at the heart of Batang Sidewalk Ministries: To bring the Good News of Jesus to the next generation, and to uplift them from poverty through education. We are grateful to God for the opportunity to partner with this ministry and to see thousands of lives changed and families and communities transformed by the power of Jesus Christ. From its humble beginnings reaching a handful of children, this ministry has grown and now reaches over 8,000 children in various sites of Metro Manila and beyond. And yet much more needs to be done because there are still hundreds of thousands of children that need to hear that God our Father has a loving purpose for their lives. To the many ministry partners: Your investment in the lives of these children is recorded in heaven and will surely be rewarded. To the scholars: Pursue your dream, but always remember, it is the Lord who has graciously given you the abilities and opportunities to make it happen. To the Batang Sidewalk Staff and Ministry Team: This is my prayer and declaration for you all: “May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon you all and bless the work of your hands.” (Psalm 90:17) Rev. Albert Clavo Senior Pastor Beginnings Church Makati Greetings! My father, “Daddy Q the Great” passed away this year. He accomplished many things with his life, but one of the greatest in his estimation was the opportunity to be a partner with Batang Sidewalk Ministries from its very inception. I feel the same way. I have never seen a ministry as robust and fruitful. Lost people receive the gospel. Entire families are redeemed and hundreds and thousands of young people have been discipled to maturity. It has been so fulfilling to watch an entire generation of young leaders arise and follow Jesus and all the opportunities that he brings to them. Sherry and I commend all of you for your faithfulness and your courage. Courage doesn’t mean that you are not afraid. It means that you do your mission, even though you are afraid. I know there have been some moments along the way that have been extremely difficult, but you have persevered. The reward for this, we can all see in the success and stability of the ministry today. This is all a testament to God’s faithfulness. When we do our part, He will always do His and even more. He pours out grace to cover our weaknesses and He supplies all of our needs. He always has, and He always will. Blessings to Sam and Joan, and all the other leaders who have been faithful for so very many years. May God reward all of you for your faithfulness to Him and your love for the poor. Sherry and I love you! Congratulations! Chuck Quinley Medialight Asia Founder & Director Chiangrai, Thailand
  • 4. 4 5 As one of the pastors who has witnessed the hard work you do in the ministry and your faithfulness to the calling God has given you, I am writing to you today to celebrate our 25th anniversary, as one who has been with you since the beginning. I am so proud of the work that you have done over the years to transform the lives of children here in South Manila and beyond. I remember well the early days of Batang Sidewalk Ministries, when you were just a nascent organization with a big dream. You didn’t give up. You worked hard and you never lost sight of your vision. Over the years, you have grown into a powerful ministry that is reaching and transforming communities. You have helped thousands of children find a place to belong, get an education, and learn biblical values. You have also helped them develop a sense of purpose and hope for the future. I pray for your continued success. May the Lord continue to use you to transform lives and to bring hope to the hopeless. May Batang Sidewalk Ministries always be a place where children can find love, support, and the opportunity to reach their full potential. Thank you for all that you do. Pastor Samuel Luciano 2pm / BSMI Pastor Lighthouse Christian Community “The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart from generation to generation.” (Psalm 33:1) A key to an impactful life is consistency. The willingness to show up day after day; the courage to keep at it despite the changing seasons of life; the heart to stick to the mission even when others do not, cannot, and will not. BSMI is one consistent ministry. It has been subjected to the major shakings of life’s tests. Sis. Joan a.k.a. Supremo caught the vision from God, and she could not let go of it. She did not count to walk away from the vision. Through the years, the Lord has crowned her efforts with much anointing, and fruitfulness. Lives upon lives have been changed, and more hearts heard the same call na bitbit ang “pagbabago sa bawat kanto.” On BSMI’s 25th anniversary, our prayers are lifted that countless more lives shall be ushered to God’s kingdom and more young people shall see the grand vision of being transformed from zero to hero! Unto Jesus be all praises for the Batang Sidewalk Ministries! Pastor Jonathan Jude Baldo Senior Pastor Lighthouse Christian Community
  • 5. Section Title As we gather to celebrate the 25th anniversary of our Sidewalk ministry, I am filled with profound gratitude and an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. What began as a humble endeavor to bring positive change to a few has blossomed into a movement that touches every street corner, heart, and future. This journey has been nothing short of remarkable, and it is an honor to share this milestone with our supporters, partners, students, and friends. The belief that God utilizes the ordinary to achieve the extraordinary resonates profoundly, as highlighted in 1 Corinthians 1:27: “Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.” (NLT) As a household helper in Ayala Alabang 25 years ago, I never could have imagined that God would call me to this ministry. However, as I heeded the call, God provided the tools, resources, empowerment, and people needed to fulfill His plans. Our vision and path were sculpted by prayer and the unwavering support of those who share our passion for a better world. From the start, our objective was clear: to bring change to every street corner. Today, that vision has become a reality: a testament to teamwork, dedication, and God’s power. From teaching five children, we are now ministering to 10,000 street kids who hear the word of God weekly. Our aim to train five street kids as teachers of the Word has increased to over 100 young volunteers from the streets now teaching God’s Word every week. The educational sponsorship that started with five street kids has yielded 53 college graduates with degrees, with three among them now pastoring a church. Currently, our sponsorship program supports 58 students. My role isn’t just about educating street kids; it’s about nurturing them as faith-filled believers and practitioners. I aim to cultivate future educators, leaders, and disciplers, a mission that has led to the appointment of a director in each of the six cities where we minister. A Message from the Founder and Director Celebrating 25 Years of Impact & Inspiration Jonny Moore Emerge Missions USA & Southeast Asia Congratulations, Sidewalk Ministries, on 25 incredibly fruitful years! Seeing what God has done and how He has used and continues to use this ministry is unbelievable. I can remember visiting Sidewalk for the first time in 2007. That visit has made such an impact on my life. I felt compelled to be a part of Sidewalk in whatever way I could. I am still amazed with every visit how the teachers, leaders, and scholars work with such passion and dedication. They truly are superheroes in blue shirts. To the Sidewalk supporters...thank you! Not everyone can wear the blue shirts and do what this team does. But you are adding fuel to the tank behind the scenes to make this thing run. Thank you for sacrificing over the years to help change the lives of young people. You are raising up superheroes. To the Sidewalk teachers and scholars...you are my heroes. I am in awe of your sacrifice and dedication. Keep fighting the good fight. It is a joy to work with you and watch you grow into amazing men and women of God. I am so proud of all of you. I tell everyone I know about the incredible heroes wearing blue shirts. You really are unbelievable, and I try to bring as many people with me to see you in action. Keep up the amazing work. You are changing lives and rewriting stories. Ate Joan and Pastor Sam, thank you for being obedient to the call of God. I am proud to call you my friends, and thank you for letting me be a small part of this journey with you. I’m excited for the next 25 years. Let’s GO! 6 7

To my beloved husband, Sam L., Your unwavering support, love, and encouragement have anchored me. It’s important that I finish my studies so I can help my family and others. GRADE 10 - Las Piñas City I developed a relationship with the Lord and because of this, my faith in Him grew stronger. It’s important that I finish my studies because that will be my key to unlocking the good future that our Lord Jesus has prepared for me. GRADE 9 - Las Piñas City I’m no longer embarrassed to share about the Lord to my neighbors and friends. So that I can fulfill my dreams and we can rise above our poverty.
  • 19. 34 35 SY 2023-2024 Scholars Junior High School Luciano, Paul Timothy Madrid, Nadine Martija, Keisha Jane GRADE 10 - Las Piñas City I learned that there is a God who has saved me from my sin, a Father who has a plan for each and every person’s life, and a Lord who will never leave or forsake us. It’s important that I finish my studies so that I can follow the plans that the Lord has made for me. GRADE 9 - Las Piñas City Faith does not make things easy, it makes them possible, as seen in Luke 1:37. We don’t have to think about what others say or how they judge us when we serve God, because it’s not them we serve but the Lord. I want to repay my parents for all their hard work, and not just live for myself. GRADE 10 - Las Piñas City Finishing school is important to me because I want to help my family. And not just them; when I become successful in life, I want to help others as well. Morales, Elaijah Recto, Melaika Sabinorio, Monica Trisha GRADE 9 - Las Piñas City I saw that God was changing my life little by little, especially in how I dealt with others. I want to do well in school so I can help my family and pay them back for all they have done for me. GRADE 10 - Muntinlupa City I used to believe in luck. But when I met God, I realized that no matter how lucky you are, if something isn’t part of the Lord’s plan, then it isn’t for you. However, He has a better plan for you, and it is more than what you could wish for. I want to do well in school so I can help my family and fulfill my dreams in life with them. I also want to find a good job so we can have our house fixed. My mama won’t have such a difficult time in life, and she won’t need to go back to the province. GRADE 9 - Las Piñas City I learned how to share the word of God with children, how to get along well with other people, and can now apply for myself the lessons that I teach others every Saturday. I want to finish school so that I can fulfill my dreams and help my family.

Previously, my response to the storms of life was predominantly negative. However, now I no longer easily succumb to fear because I know that Jesus is with me in every storm. Whatever struggle I face, I lift it up to the Lord. I have transformed from a worrier into a warrior! GRADE 11 - Mindoro The Lord made me realize that after all the hardships our family went through, I need to trust Him. When I discovered that my mama had cancer, I prayed so many times. But at the end of the day all I can do is trust Him. By God’s grace, mom is still with us three years later, which is rare for those with cancer as serious as hers. Until now, I still don’t know the reason why this happened to us, but I will remain still and trust in Him always. GRADE 11 - Las Piñas City In this world, you will have trouble. The world is fallen and your world will be shaken. While it is in the process of being restored by Christ, you can experience suffering but trust the Lord. Trust your Lord. If you’re experiencing your lowest point in life, don’t give up because God is preparing something good for you that you can’t even imagine.

Obtaining a degree can have a big impact on your life. You can get a better job and have a stable life. GRADE 11 - Muntinlupa City Education helps us realize the truth and serves as a way for us to achieve our dreams. Nothing is permanent in the world, but if there is one thing that can help, it’s being educated. Elin Nordegren said, “Education is one thing no one can take away from you” so for me, finishing school is a privilege, because it gives me a chance to reach for my dreams and become successful someday. GRADE 11 - Muntinlupa City It is important that I finish my studies so that I can get a good job that will not only benefit me but also the people around me. Corocoto, Rei Ann De Ocampo, Justine Gloria, Angel GRADE 12 - Las Piñas City Before, I used to go to church because it meant I could go out and have fun. But after attending the 2019 camp, I continued going to church because I wanted to praise God and I learned to respect those older than me. I want to finish school because I want my parents to experience a peaceful life, one where they don’t have to think about their expenses, and I want to help other Batang Sidewalk kids, too. GRADE 12 - Cavite The way that I view my life has changed ever since my siblings invited me to attend a service in LCC and join the Batang Sidewalk ministry. Since then, my perspective has gradually changed. The bad things I used to do, the things I shouldn’t have done, I stopped. I thank the Lord for not abandoning me. GRADE 11 - Muntinlupa City I continue in life because the God who is alive continues to give me strength each day. I cannot do this without God in my life. I want to have wisdom and graduate so that I can get a good job that will help our family rise above our poverty.

When I encountered the Lord, I knew that He took away many things from me, especially the characteristics that did not please Him, such as lying, anger, and my love for material things. If there’s one thing that the Lord has taken away from me that I’m really happy about, it is my negative attitude. He gave me a positive attitude, a clean heart, and good wishes for my family and myself. It’s important that I graduate because I want to help my mama overcome poverty. I learned to value everything in my life after getting to know Jesus. I realized the need to make the most of my blessings. I became serious about my studies because I knew that not everyone got the opportunity to study at a State University. I focused on my goal to graduate, and I achieved it, thanks to BSMI. Teraytay, Junrey 2013 - Computer Programming and Hardware Servicing Dr, Filemon C. Aguilar Information Training Institute SIDEWALK TEACHER SINCE 2008 I was inspired to become a Sidewalk teacher by my teachers, Ate Vanessa Verba and Ate Dale Villasor. My faith and trust in the Lord has deepened since I accepted Jesus. I will never forget Sidewalk. I continue to exercise my faith, especially in my current job search. Maybe in the future I will be able to repay all the help I received from BSMI and become an inspiration to others. SIDEWALK TEACHER SINCE 2011 BSMI Graduates

I noticed how happy people were every time they left home and went to the Sidewalk. I used to think that worldly experiences brought happiness, but the happiness the world gives has an expiration date. Since accepting Jesus, I realized that life is more joyful and beautiful when you have God with you every day. BSMI gave me an opportunity for a better life. My father is an ice cream vendor and doesn’t earn much. We are a big family and my other siblings are still studying, so we face financial difficulties. The support I received from BSMI helped me finish my studies, easing my father’s worries and expenses. Villalobos, Delmar Jr. 2017 - Bachelor of Science in Information System Dr. Filemon C. Aguilar Information Training Institute SIDEWALK TEACHER SINCE 2008 The tasty food given during the Sidewalk ministry made me want to be a teacher at first! Then I got to know Jesus. I thought that my life during my youth was worthless, but the Lord had a beautiful plan all along. BSMI helped us (my family) greatly during challenging times. BSMI Graduates

  • 56. 108 109 How to Support Batang Sidewalk Here are ways you can participate in what God is doing through Batang Sidewalk Ministries, Inc. 1. PRAYER This ministry would not have grown nor would it impact the lives of people in such a powerful way were it not for the power of prayer. As Jesus said: Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. (John 14:13-14) So that God may be glorified, please pray with us for the following: Guidance, Protection, and Blessings for the volunteers and staff as we navigate the path ahead, as well as ample resources to sustain the ministry’s outreach efforts, continuous growth, and positive impact on individuals and families. Profound Transformation in the lives of the countless children, families, and communities who will encounter the Gospel through Batang Sidewalk Ministries. Faithfulness to Jesus and Empowerment for our scholars so they can successfully complete their studies, achieve their dreams, and become agents of change in their families and communities, as a testimony to God’s grace and glory. Prayer Requests for 2024 1. To train and raise up 100 more volunteers by conducting teachers training every quarter. 2. To have a BSMI leadership and ministry manual. 3. To be a PCNC accredited organization. 4. To raise funds for 100 more upstanding volunteers for their school expenses. 5. To write a BSMI Teaching curriculum. Prayer Requests for the Next 5 years 1. To have a BSMI Center in every city of NCR. 2. GO SIDEWALK in EVERY REGION -- partnering with 20 churches in different regions of the Philippines. 3. To have a researcher for the development of BSMI in terms of new strategy and new techniques. 4. To produce professionals that will strive to lend a hand to financially challenged but deserving communities. 2. FINANCIAL SUPPORT A. SPONSOR A SITE - Our team currently visits 59 urban poor community sites every Saturday. There are opportunities to expand to over a dozen more locations, but this growth requires increased manpower and organizational costs in order to be financially sustainable. You can help us to reach out to more communities with God’s message of hope and transformation by sponsoring a site with your regular financial contribution. B. SUPPORT A SCHOLAR - Our student leaders were prayerfully chosen to receive scholarships from among the hundreds of young people who come from low-income and urban poor families. These responsible and capable youth have embraced their role in Batang Sidewalk Ministries mission and have shown promise and commitment when it comes to building their future. With a regular monthly or yearly contribution, you can send a student leader to school and directly help in empowering them and their family to rise out of poverty. C. SUSTAIN THE MINISTRY - Your one-time gift of any amount can help Batang Sidewalk Ministries, Inc. sustain and expand our mission to reach more sites within southern Metro Manila and beyond. Your partnership with us in the Gospel enables many children to reach their full potential and empowers them as the future agents of change that our society needs today. For more information, email us: batangsidewalk@gmail.com 3. LOCAL CHURCH PARTNERSHIP We have partnered with several churches to bring Batang Sidewalk Ministries to different urban poor communities in Metro Manila and the Visayan region. If you are part of a local church and would like to bring the Batang Sidewalk Ministries to your community, please contact us! OTHERS In the recent past, we’ve had people donate ipads and laptops to our student leaders, celebrate their birthdays in our ministry sites, or even do a feeding and gift-giving event for several neighboring sites at the same time! If you have other ideas on how to bless the children, young people, and families in the urban poor communities that we minister to, please contact us. We would love to hear what you have in mind! The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:40
