The Broccoli Project provides rewards to incentivize socially beneficial behaviors among impoverished individuals as an alternative to welfare. It uses a technology platform to track participant activities like HIV testing, job searches, recycling, and community service. A pilot program partnered with a mobile HIV testing clinic to provide vouchers for completing counseling and testing through an anonymous incentive-based system. The project team aims to expand initiatives around issues like blood donation, environmental cleanup, and skills training.
