“Going green is good business”
Businesses across the world should no
longer be viewed solely as greenhouse
gas emissions culprits, but more as
indispensable partners for climate action,
who stand to increase profits from “going
green”. That was the key message as the
United Nations COP24 climate change
conference went into its second week in
Katowice, Poland
Business/ Consumer –
changing together in 2019?

Local Industrial Strategy
What is the Cornwall & IoS Local
Industrial Strategy
A long-term plan (launched in 2020) for improving CIOS’ productivity which
will be based on clear evidence and aligned to the UK Industrial Strategy
What will the CIoS Local Industrial
Strategy do
 Define a targeted suite of interventions
 Provide the strategic framework to facilitate the coordination of local
economic policy and national funding streams
 Establish new ways of working between national and local government, and
the public and private sectors.
What’s the process/ next steps in
the development of the CIoS:
 CIOSLEP will develop an analytical evidence base
 CIOSLEP will launch an extensive local consultation with businesses, public
partners and civil society.
What’s the link between the CIoS
Local Industrial Strategy and the
“Going green is good for
business” event:
 Clean Growth is one of the UK Industrial Strategy’s 4 Grand Challenges and
is likely to be a key priority for the CIOS Local Industrial Strategy;
 Local Industrial Strategies will be focused on increasing the productivity
across CIoS’ businesses and driving new market opportunities. The green
business agenda is closely aligned with these objectives, whether in terms of
innovation in the area of new low carbon and environmental goods and
services or promoting energy and resource efficiency through the transition
towards a circular economy.

Breakfast Briefings - January 2019

  • 1. Going green is good business Breakfast Briefings – Winter 2018/2019 Welcome: Richard Wadman, PKF Francis Clark 8 January 2019
  • 3. pkf-francisclark.co.uk “Going green is good business” Businesses across the world should no longer be viewed solely as greenhouse gas emissions culprits, but more as indispensable partners for climate action, who stand to increase profits from “going green”. That was the key message as the United Nations COP24 climate change conference went into its second week in Katowice, Poland

  • 6. pkf-francisclark.co.uk Local Industrial Strategy What is the Cornwall & IoS Local Industrial Strategy A long-term plan (launched in 2020) for improving CIOS’ productivity which will be based on clear evidence and aligned to the UK Industrial Strategy What will the CIoS Local Industrial Strategy do  Define a targeted suite of interventions  Provide the strategic framework to facilitate the coordination of local economic policy and national funding streams  Establish new ways of working between national and local government, and the public and private sectors. What’s the process/ next steps in the development of the CIoS:  CIOSLEP will develop an analytical evidence base  CIOSLEP will launch an extensive local consultation with businesses, public partners and civil society. What’s the link between the CIoS Local Industrial Strategy and the “Going green is good for business” event:  Clean Growth is one of the UK Industrial Strategy’s 4 Grand Challenges and is likely to be a key priority for the CIOS Local Industrial Strategy;  Local Industrial Strategies will be focused on increasing the productivity across CIoS’ businesses and driving new market opportunities. The green business agenda is closely aligned with these objectives, whether in terms of innovation in the area of new low carbon and environmental goods and services or promoting energy and resource efficiency through the transition towards a circular economy.
