what I done so
far this year.

2. Fourth grade is very awesome. At the beginning of the year I
was always losing or forgetting things but now I hardly
lose or forget anything. I have met a ton of friend since I
started school. My favorite subject in school is P.E. P.E is
my favorite because you get to do a lot of fun things. My
favorite teacher is Mr. Thornbury. Our class has English,
LLB or ESOL, Science, Social Studies, Math, Reader’s
Workshop, Writer’s Workshop, P.E, Art, Music, counselor,
library, recess and lunch. Our homework is sometimes hard
and sometimes easy.

do research on some of the topics. We have book buddies. My
book buddy is Calen. We also have Lee Elementary
Buddies. Incase you did not know what it is, I will tell you
what it is. Lee Elementary buddies are also fourth graders
from the U.S where Ms. Blovad used to teach before she came
to Shanghai. My Lee Elementary buddies are Spencer and
Samantha. The thing I am most proud of is writing back
and forth to my book buddy. My goal is to use better
vocabulary words in my writing to my book buddy.

are basically focusing on our Historical Fiction books.
My Historical Fiction book is called Pedro’s Journal. The
thing I am most proud of is that now I can read even
more harder books. My goal is to read even more harder
books and understand the story.

8. In writing we have wrote narrative stories, personal,
friendly letters, and comic using Comic Life. The most
recent type of writing we wrote are essays. We have wrote
three essays. The first one is about wildfires. The second
one is about if you want to live on Kodiak Island or not.
The third one is about Why Shihuangdi was a
successful ruler. To grade how we are doing on our
writing we use Rubrics. The most thing I hate about
writing is that you have to write a lot of things in
cursive. I also learned how to edit and revise my own
writing or my friend’s. The thing I am most proud of is
in my writing is now I learned how to write essays. My
Goal is to do a better job on my essays and improve my
cursive writing.

9. In math we had learned a ton of things. My favorite thing
in math is finding out area. I like area the best in math
because I think it is very easy. The thing I hate most in
math is division. Division problems solving is very hard
for me. The rest of the topics like multiplying, fractions,
geometry, perimeter, estimating and measuring angles
are all O.K to me. The thing I am most proud of in math is
fractions cause that is the area I got the best test score. My
goal is to improve my division so that I can do a little bit
faster and still get correct answers.

10. In social studies we have learned a lot of things about the
Qin Dynasty. And now we are studying the Han
Dynasty. I like the Qin Dynasty better because although
Shiunangdi was a cruel emperor but he still did many
great things for China. For example he started The Great
Wall of China. The thing that I am most proud of is my
Qin essay because I think I did a good job on it. My goal
is to learn more about the Han Dynasty because I do not
know a lot of things about it.

11. For science we switch to Ms. Frazier’s classroom and her
class goes to Ms. Blovad’s classroom for social studies. I
am O.K with switching. We have learned water and are
now studying on electricity. The most recent experiment
we had did are trying to make a light bulb light with
battery with our shoulder partners. We have also learned
about open and closed circuits. The thing that I am most
proud of is when I made the light bulb light up because I
never did that before. My goal is to get 100% on every
single of my science test because I hardly get any
hundreds on my science tests.

13. P.E is very fun. You get to do a lot of fun activities and
get a lot of exercise done. My favorite part about P.E is
when we get to go to the Mat room. I like going to the
awesome Mat room. It has really fun things in there and
Mr. Thornbury always planned fun activities for us to do.
The part I hate most is when you have to run on the track. I
do not like running the track because it is very boring
and tiring to do. One thing I am most proud of in P.E is
my basketball. My goal in P.E is to run faster because I
think I need to speed up my running.

14. In art we had completed a ton of artworks. My favorite
artwork that I had completed is a bug that I drew on my
sketch book. The thing I hate most about art is when I have
to draw a lot of things that I do not like to draw. My goal
in art is to draw better because I do not think my drawing
is very good.

15. In music we had been playing the xylophones and
the recorder. The most recent song we learned how
to sing is the Chopsticks and the Whacky Do Re
Mi. I like singing the Chopsticks better because it
is easier and shorter. My goal in music is to play
better on the xylophones.

16. We get to go to the library once a week to check out books.
Sometimes in special events we held our activities there
too. And in the library you also get to browse around
Destiny Quest and see what books you have checked out,
write down some recommendations on books you have
already read so that your friends might be interested in
those books too. My favorite part about library is you get
to check out a lot of books.

17. To me counselor is very boring. We always let Mr. Woods
do all the talking and we sat there most of the time. But
the good part about it is you get to sit back and relax. The
boring part is when you have to do some worksheets about
your feeling and things like that.

18. LLB is when I get to learn my Chinese. In LLB it
is sometimes fun and sometimes boring. It is
fun when we have a party. It is boring when we
have to do a test. My favorite part about LLB is
really not anything. The part I hate about LLB is
when we get a ton of homework.

19. We have reading buddies from Ms. Borden’s class. My
reading buddy use to be Richard but he left so now my
reading buddy is Jennifer. I kind of like reading buddies
because you don’t have to do anything except for reading to
my buddy.

20. Lunch is a O.K to me. In lunch all I get to do is eat and
talk to my friends. I like lunch when there is very good
food. I do not like lunch when the food is not very good to
me and all I can eat is sandwich or some fruits.

21. Recess is the best thing in school because it is
your free time and you get to play whatever you
want to play. I kind of like indoor recess because
you can go on the computers. But the bad thing
about indoor recess is that you can not run
around like you can outside. When is outdoor
recess I play basketball and soccer a lot.

23. Fun Friday is something that you get to do on Friday
if you did not miss any homework. But if you miss
one homework you will go to the work room. Also at Fun
Friday you get to play computers. It is also one of my
favorite things to do in school.
