2. As a part of my research, I created a survey on
Surveymonkey.com and asked questions relating to
band names, logos and typeface as well as album
covers.
This was a part of my initial planning into my brand
identity and target audience feedback to help
determine how my band should be represented.

4. ANALYSIS
All names had good feedback however the most
popular name by a smidge was The Shires.
When asked to justify their answers, some people
commented it was different and catchy as well as a
unique name. One even commented ‘Has a good
feel. Says northern, folksy, grounded music,
good lyrics...that's what I would expect from a
band called The Shires!’
The general answer I recieved was that it had links
to the English countryside and links well to the folk
genre. It is an alternative name with a uniqueness
to it.
5. 3)WHICH TEMPLATE IS YOUR FAVOURITE?
Template 1 Template 2 Template 3 Template 4
6 8 5 4
6. ANALYSIS
It is clear that template 2 is the winner which is the
courier new font.
Although I didn’t ask people to justify their choices,
some commented that they liked the simplicity of the
design. One even commented ‘It looks simple but
suits the design of the cover and makes an impact’
I chose to make this one the designs as I liked the
simplicity of the cover. I wanted to keep it simple, much
like Mumford and Son’s Sigh No More. If kept simple, it’ll
help the features of the cover to stand out without being
overloaded with different images.
The reason why it is an image of a forest is because it
links well to the English countryside and the outdoors,
two features I associate with the folk, indie genre.
7. 4) OPINIONS OF THE ALBUM TITLE?
This question got a range of different repsonses. Some had said it was
slightly to long and could be shortened. One respondent suggested This
Is All I Have (...And it Isn’t Enough). Another suggested a more colloquial
name, It’s All Mine and it Ain’t Enough.
Yet, the more popular response was positive feedback. Many liked that it
was catchy and alternative. One responded ‘I really like it, it really
captures the essence of indie folk music’. Another response that
stood out to me was ‘It sounds like a good album name and it works
well with the background image on the cover. If I were to hear that
album name I would go and listen to it’ – which is how I want my
audience to react. I wan them to go and pick up the album because it
sounds intriguing and catches their eye.
The reason why I wanted a long title like such was that it would remain
memorable to the audience and make the audience want to pick up the
album and buy it and I feel this title is able to make it happen. It also
works with the designs of my cover as it covers the blank spaces of the
cover (They are just mock ups but it is the design I want to follow.
