2. Jasna Gora Research Paper
Today, Thursday, July 28, Pope Francis visited the Jasna GГ
іra shrine in
Czestochowa, where he was acclaimed by hundreds of thousands of young
Catholics. Here he celebrated a Holy Mass to mark this year s 1050th anniversary of
Poland s conversion to Christianity in front of the Polish bishops and many
authorities, among whom were President Andrzej Duda and his wife.
The pope mobile made its way through the acclaiming crowd, which Francis greeted
with visible emotion. The field in front of the Monastery was immediately covered
by a colorful wave of pilgrims while the speaker greeted the Pope, Welcome, Holy
Father!
Once in the shrine, Pope Francis sweetly greeted a group of ill and disabled people
and blessed them. Then, he went to the chapel of the Miraculous Image of Our
Lady of Jasna Gora to venerate the icon of the Black Madonna. Francis prayed in
silence for a few minutes in front of the image which is show to the public twice a
day, in the morning and in the afternoon. At the end the Pope offered Mary a silver
rose on a pink marble pedestal. This is an exclusive gift that popes traditionally offer
to Marian Sanctuaries.

Mary is a Mother who takes people s problems to heart and acts. She recognizes
moments of difficulty and handles them discreetly, efficiently, and decisively. She is
neither imperious nor intrusive, but a Mother and a handmaid . Pope Francis speaks
about humility, littleness, simplicity and concreteness. God manifests himself in a
small village, a simple miracle takes place and brings joy to the wedding of a young
and completely anonymous family. God saves us, then by making himself little, near

3. Religion In Ancient Civilization
Through religion, civilizations have been able to unify people under a particular
religious idea. It was not necessary for everyone to be religious as long as they
identified with the same religion as those around them. Religion is subjective and
one of the main ways each civilization created an identity is through the concept of
new gods and beliefs. Each civilization had some form of religionand throughout
history we see an evolutionary change in religious beliefs. The Hebrews and the
Middle Age Christians were monotheistic who believed in one true all powerful God.
The Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans were extremely polytheistic who believed in
many different gods who all played different roles. These differences in religion

Christianity rejected the Greek and Roman view on religion but instead believed that
truth was found only through religion. Christianity developed into many different
religious sects but the concepts were all very similar. Christianity was based on
moral value, universal love, non violence, equality, and religion was above the state
and worldly affairs (Dr. Agocs, Lecture). This new form of religion went against
everything the Greeks and Romans had previously believed and practiced.
Christianity began to spread from the Roman civilization and spread throughout the
surrounding areas. Those in power in Rome were not pleased with the rise of
Christianity. The Christians at Lyons and Vienne in a letter to other Christians in
Asia describe the sufferings heaped upon them by the general populace, clamors,
blows, being dragged along, robberies, stonings, imprisonments, and all that an
enraged mob loves to inflict (Christians, Persecutions at Lyons and Vienne, p.

In any community, as in everyday life, many challenging issues can arise. In
intercultural communities a large portion of these challenging issues are in some
way, related to two forms of racism. Our book notes that racism could be self
imposed due to low feelings of self worth or a feeling of helplessness. This is called
internalized racism(Oetzel, p.293). The second type, institutionalized racism, stems
from the in group. When a majority feels superior or uses acts rejection towards the
minority the racist remarks are considered institutionalized. Often both forms of
racism occur in the community. Unfortunately, several social and cultural factors
reinforce these negative treatments of other and several actions must be taken to

I know today that my mom was raised with a racist perspective or perhaps even a
white supremacist attitude as was the rest of her family. The feeling of disgust and
contempt for this seemingly nice man is an example of institutionalized racism. It
wasn t my mom s fault that she grew up in a world where you used this language
and you thought of others as less clean and inferior. The government even did this;
segregated were the public schools and other public facilities. Today there are less
obvious but existing signs of this very same idea. Ironically, my mom now has four
adopted children. These children have dark skin and are labeled as African American
by the agency that facilitated the adoption process. These children are three, ten,
thirteen, and fifteen years old. Once, I went with my mom to the doctors. She was
filling out some paperwork on the children before they could be seen. My mother got
down to the section that said race. She then checked the box Black/African
American . The ten year old girl looked up and said, I m not black! My mom
looked at her forcing back a laugh since she is the darkest skinned out of her three
siblings. Well, what race are you? mom replied. The young girl said every race
imaginable besides the correct race, which was the checked box above. These
children had been taken out of their home because of the illegal activities of the
biological mother. These children were often involved in these

Teacher
Rain, the tears of Heaven is a popular explanation of rainfall by parents to their
children. When children s mental capabilities are not developed and mature enough
to digest complex concepts, whether scientific or historical, adults often replace the
facts with simplified stories. In A Barred Owl and The History Teacher, the poets
present the idea that adults always attempt to shield their children from the danger of
the outside world. The former speaker employs onomatopia to facilitate children to
overcome fear, and the latter euphemizes the cruelty of warfare. However, while the
former adopts a playful tone and style to domesticate fear (Wilbur 8), the latter aims

Collins employs a sarcastic tone from the beginning of his poem: Trying to protect
his students innocence/ he told them that the Ice Age was really just the Chilly Age...
(Collins 1 2). To protect children s innocence, the teacher ironically teaches false
history, which actually miseducates his students. The teacher s goodwill only results
in more ignorance: The children would leave his classroom/ for the playground to
torment the weak/ and the smart (Collins 14 16). Juxtaposing the euphemism of
warfare and the children s bullying behavior, Collins adopts a sarcastic tone to
convey the ironic consequences of shielding children from the reality. Using sarcasm
and irony, Collins criticizes the behavior of keeping children away from the truth.
With different intentions, the poet of A Barred Owl employs playful tone, while the

Improvements During the Meiji Restoration
The abolishment of feudalism made immense social and political changes in Japan.
Japanese citizens were able to choose their occupation and were allowed to move
without restriction. By implementing a new environment of political and financial

The Japanese government built railway and shipping lines, telegraph and telephone

new laws from the Restoration government, the citizens are allowed to dress freely.
Then in 1871, the Emperor issued a mandate requiring high officials to wear

Japanese women rapidly followed the style of the Victorian period. They would

8. Make Use Of Dramatic Irony In Tobias Wolff s
7. How does Dahl also make use of dramatic irony? Which did you find more
powerful the dramatic irony or the situational irony? Explain why.
Dramatic irony is shown heavily throughout the story, as the reader connects with
Mary as she goes through her whole plan on how to cover up the murder. An example
of dramatic irony that was shown is when the officers were eating the murder
weapon and they didn t even know except for Mary and the readers. I found the
situational irony to be more dramatic because you would have never pictured a
woman going from such a calm and loving state to one that killed her husband in the
spur of the moment. It was shocking to me on how she had such a rapid change in
attitude and how she was able to put on a smile ... Show more content on

Find the passage in which Mary asks the police officers to do her a small favor and
eat the lab. What kind of irony is at work here?
This is an example of verbal irony, as Mary is asking the police officers to eat the
lamb as a courtesy, but she actually wants to get rid of the weapon. She states eating
the lamb would be a small favor, however she means the opposite by getting rid of
the item.
10. Now that you have read the story, what do you think the title means? Is it
appropriate? Is it ironic?
I think the title represents the idea of how someone is unaware of getting harmed,
such as a lamb who is going to the slaughter and trusts the one guiding them. The
husband has no idea that his wife was going to kill him, and when she does, Lamb to
the Slaughter is a title that works appropriately to convey the idea. It shows
situational irony because the reader and the character do not expect the events that
play out.
11. Do you think Dahl intends his characters and plot to be credible? Explain your
answer.
I believe Dahl intends for his characters and plot to be credible because with all the
tactics Mary uses to execute her plan, it makes the reader questions whether this
could realistically happen. Even though he intends it, it isn t probable when we think
about such an act being played out nowadays, but back then it might have seemed
more likely to
9. ##versical Dilemmas, And Peter Singer s The Singer...
The subject of suffering has been a discussion of debate among numerous
philosophers for many decades. In the article, The Singer Solution to World Poverty,
Peter Singer forms two theoretical scenarios to encourage readers to consider their
obligations in aiding children in need; in the poem Musee des Beaux Arts, by W.H.
Auden, employs the use of two paintings to illustrate the indifference of humanity to
individual suffering. At first, readers will say that both pieces are noticeably different
in terms of selflessness, but a thorough inspection of both works uncovers a
misleading truth that imply controversial opinions on the issue. The usage of
imaginary incidents in both writings contain problems of distortion of actuality. The
inaccurate evidence will likely trigger readers to be inclined to reach deceptive
assumptions in regards to the author s proposed solutions.
First, in The Singer Solution to World Poverty, Singer deceives actuality when he
generates two events in which an individual is faced with an ethical dilemma
whether to save a child or sacrifice his or her luxuries. In the second scenario
offered by Singer, Bob faces the choice of either turning the switch on the railroad to
save a child or letting the train destroy his life savings, a Bugatti. Furthermore, people
will condemn Bob for not freeing the child. Though, Singer argues as there is no
distinct line amongst the situation and the real life issue of donating money to
children in need, wealthy

Why does Ocean Boulevard make Myrtle Beach, S.C So Popular? In most cases,
when people hear the name South Carolina they instantly think Myrtle Beach. Myrtle
Beach is one of the most popular places in South Carolina. Why is Myrtle Beach so
popular? Myrtle Beach is popular because of Ocean Boulevard, better known as the

the amusement parks and entertainments, the best dining places, special events and
most of all its beautiful weather especially in the summer. First of all, the history and

inhabitants were the Waccamaw Indians and the Winyah Indians ; they named their

Essay 3 The changes are an integral part of progress and development. It is a well
known fact that in order to gain a new level the society should go through the series
of different transformation. These transformations are not always pleasant and
peaceful but, in general, they are useful for the society and help it to become a
better one. In this work I am going to explain how, the European world changed
dramatically as a result of a series of stresses in the late 13th to the mid 15th
centuries and how such events as Black Plague, the One Hundred Year s War and
the collapse of Papal Power influenced the Medieval European society. The

The second effect was lack of laborers. The level of trust to the Church also
decreased. The One Hundred Years War was another historical even, which influenced
on the society in the Middle Ages. It was a long struggle between England and France
over succession to the French throne. It lasted from 1337 to 1453, so it might more
accurately be called the 116 Years War (Wheeler, The Hundred Years War ).
Actually, it was the series of smaller wars and included several battles. The war
involved two countries, England and France, which were among the leading ones in
Europe during the Middle Ages. Nothing special, that such a massive struggle, which
involved a large amount of people during the extremely long period of time, resulted
into the drastic demographic, economical and political changes. England lost most of
its continental territories and the insanity of the King brought it into the series of
internal conflicts. On the contrary, France was able to strengthen its positions. The
third important point, which initiated the changes in the European society and
brought it to the new era of development, was the collapse of Papal Power. In the
Middle Ages the belief that there is one Pope, who rules the church, was extremely
strong. That is why the division of the Papacy into the two ruling points, one in
Avignon, France and one in Rome was a great tragedy for many people as

and killed a significant amount of the population. One of the main reasons behind
the level of devastation was do to the fact that the city was not at all prepared to
face a storm as large as the one that hit in 1900, the city had a very low elevation
with its highest point being only 9 feet above the sea level, and had very little if any
means of protection from Hurricanes(1.). By 1900 Galveston had already been hit

New Orleans on the other hand is usually seen as a prime example of the
shortcomings of Federal aid agencies in disaster relief and the subsequent recovery

like this is a clear cut case of the Federal government being and expensive failure and
local government thriving when left alone but I would argue that the cities were
facing vastly different circumstances during each of their natural disasters and that
comparing them isn t so clear cut. First take into consideration the population
difference between the two. New Orleans had well over 10 times the population of
1900 Galveston, with over 10 times the amount of people being effected by the
storm it is not surprise that responding to the needs of that many people during a
natural disaster would be far more costly to deal with than with the much smaller
population in Galveston. The type of government Galveston created after the

people call that event as Creek War. This war went to a climatic episode when it
reached Horseshoe bend, Alabama on March 27. This climax was a conflict
between The Red Stick faction of Upper Creek Indians and the Americans and
their Cherokee, Choctaw and Lower Creek Allies. It is very interesting to analyze
the barricade made by The Red Stick to defend their selves from the attack and also
the strategy that General Andrew Jackson brought to offend the Red Stick in that
war. This essay has an aim to describe the war strategy used by both sides and also
explain the chronological order of the event. (Futato, 1986, p.94).
The battle of horseshoe bend was a final battle of The Creek War. This war happen
as an impact of American Expansion. Most of the land in the United States was

15. Definition Essay On Resilience
Firstly, let me define the word resilient. Resilient is the ability to cope with stress, or
the ability to quickly recover from difficult conditions. Now how resilient do I think
I am? I think that in most situations I am pretty resilient, but I feel like it all depends
on the situation. For example, if there was a death in the family then my resilience
would be really low, because of the circumstances. But, if we were talking about
like being a teacher in a new classroom then I feel like my resilience wouldn t be
too high or too low. Being a teacher in a new classroom is of course a big step and
brings a lot of responsibility, which sometimes causes stress. I have recently gone
through this situation, I recently started working at the Children s

major intervention is teaching the patient how to follow their diet after a certain

patients wellbeing. As nurses we help patients to be coherent with doctors orders
and overall improve their health. Bariatric surgery approach is performed after other
medical treatments for loosing weight have been tried with no success (Nix, 2017).
Bariatric surgeries include the adjustable gastric band, gastric bypass, sleeve
gastrectomy, biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch. The overall concept of
these surgeries is to make the stomach smaller or induce malabsorption. If the
stomach is smaller, less amount of food is being consumed and with malabsorption,

Changes in dietary diet may include a liquid diet for a period of time after surgery.
We would slowly move on to pureed foods, and eventually introduce regular
textured food. Patient should also limit foods high in sugar and refined
carbohydrates like pastas, crackers and white breads (Henry, 2016). Due to the
alteration of food absorption, nutrients have to prescribed to the patient. The most
common prescribed nutrients are: calcium, iron, vitamin D, and vitamin b 12.
Staying active will help the patient to be successful with their surgery. Even though
the weight is lost, continuous diet adherence and exercise is needed. Patient should
start slow and gradually increase exercise activity. Exercise should be about 60
minutes per day, 5 days out of the week. If a routine not established for diet and
exercise, weight gain can return.

the same penalties as drunk drivers, we must look at what the penalties are for

Drunk driving is a serious crime that can affect not only the driver s life but also the
lives of anyone else on the road. Smartphone use can be just as dangerous. When
you are distracted by your phone, whether by texting, on an app, or some other use,
you are taking your eyes and concentration off of the matter at hand; driving. This
distraction even if only for a split second can cause you to get in an accident.
Although it is extremely wrong to use your phone while driving I believe that the
sentences for DUI should not directly apply to drivers distracted by smartphones. I
believe that if adjusted to fit the crime then yes, the penalties would apply nicely.
Although it is illegal and immoral to use phones while driving I see it in another
category than needing to receive jail time. The jail time I think should be removed
from the equation unless in situation of repeated offense. As far as the license
revocation goes I think it should remain, but be for shorter periods of time such as 1 3
months. As a person commits more offenses the length can be increased. The fines
should remain, as should the requirement of community service and educational
classes. Although these crimes are similar, they are not identical and therefore should
not receive identical

20. The Effect Of Enzymes On The Concentration Of A Protein
Enzymes are catalysts that speed up chemical reactions without being used up in the
process (Leady). A catalyst helps speed up a chemical reaction without being
changed during the reaction. Enzymes are specific meaning that they can work with
only a specific set of chemical reactions. Most enzyme names end in ase. The shape
of a protein is very important in its function for the reaction. The molecule the enzyme
works on is called a substrate. In order for this enzyme to work on this reaction the
substrate must first fit into an activation site. When an enzyme binds to its substrate,
it is called an enzyme substrate complex. The resulting chemicals from the reaction
are called the products. Enzymes can be affected by a few variables such as pHand
temperature. All enzymes work best at a specific temperature in the reaction to work.
About an average human, enzymes work greatly at 98.6 Fahrenheit or 37.5 Celsius
(Effect). The lower the temperatures are the slower the enzyme works. At low
temperatures, the enzyme does not work as well because there is not enough
movement between the molecules to have the substrate, and the enzyme meets and
binds together. The higher temperatures can cause a denature of an enzyme. This
means that enzyme shape is changing making the enzyme inactive. The reason is that
enzymes are proteins that are made up of amino acids and at high temperatures the
hydrogen bonds break which then uncoils the protein and stops its function
(Enzymes). In

crucial part on determining the final verdict. However, child witness testimony
should not be allowed due to the harm that it inflicts on children. The article between
a rock and a hard place: Why hearsay testimonymay be a necessary evil in child
sexual abuse cases by Watters, T., Brineman, J., Wright, S. compares the positive and
negative of using hearsay testimony instead of child testimony. The authors argues
that the benefits outweighs the cost.

For example, the child has to face with the defendant of the crime who may
possibly have been guilty. In addition, the defense attorney will question the child or
even accused of the child on fabricating abuse (Watters, Brineman Wright, 2007).
Furthermore, the traumatization faced by the child may cost psychological
damages in the near future. In the study by Wolfman, M., Brown, D., Jose, P.
(2016), 27 trained child witness interviewers are brought into the study as
participants. Half of the participants works full time and the average experience is
5.2 years. The study found that depending on the relationship with the defendant and
the severity of the damaged caused to the child, the responses to the questions will
be effected due to increase in anxiety and intimidation (Wolfman, Brown Jose,
2016). Since the child has to go through multiple interviews before trail such as
caretaker, police or social services, the risk may increase. The effect of multiple trails
compared to single trails can lead to more negative effects on mental health, children

24. Texas Government
Texas is the second most populous state as well as the second largest state in the
United States of America (Brown, Langenegger, Garcia, Lewis, Biles, 2014). With a
huge number of people currently calling Texas their home, it would make sense to
draw the conclusion that the Texas government must make this state a great place to
live by serving its citizens to the best of its abilities. However, it is best not to make
assumptions and in order to ascertain whether the local governmentactually fulfills
this role we must look at multiple aspects of the government. To assess how well the
government of Texas meets the needs of its citizens we first must look at the
document that delegates power to the state government and outlines the rules... Show

This is an area where public opinion and public policy match in that they both
heavily favor regressive taxation (Brown et al., 2014). Tausanovitch and Warshaw
(2013) have developed a means of understanding political preference in comparison
with public opinion and public policy to determine whether a government is best
serving the desires of its people. This type of tool would be very useful for the
state of Texas to use to determine whether the government is serving the desires of
its constituents. But, just because public opinion and public policy line up doesn t
mean that the interests of citizens are best served because some groups may still be
left out and those groups may have more needs than others. Texas current
operational stance of pay as you go makes for a very tight budget where the
government cannot always afford to spend money on things the citizens of Texas
may need. For instance, Texas operates its roads with the same pay as you go
mentality by opting for toll roads (Brown et al., 2014). Toll roads receive some
government funding through state issued bonds and the collection of tolls after
completion. This system is hardly fair for the citizens who do not use the toll roads
but still must subsidize them through taxpayer dollars when the toll revenue does not
meet the projected earnings. There are also many more citizens in Texas who live
below the poverty line, 18.4% for Texas in comparison to 15.1% for the entire United
States (Brown et al., 2014). With a larger proportion of citizens in poverty the
burden to the state becomes greater, especially when funding remains low (Insert
citation). Texas is just hurting its citizens by not being able to provide as much
support and assistance to them as possible. Texas was given the opportunity, along
with every other state in the union, to expand its offering of Medicaid under the
Affordable Care Act. A sample of public opinion was obtained
25. The Probability Of Picking A Starfish
Instruct
Many students get confused when learning about fractions. At our grade level we
teach about parts of a whole, equal shares, and partitioning.
1. Starfish, shark, whale and dolphin probability:
The probability of picking a starfish will equal the number of starfish (3) divided by
the total number (10). Therefore, the probability of the student picking a starfish is 3
/10.
The probability of picking a shark will be 3 sharks out of 10. This equals 3/10
The probability of whales will be 3/10 and the probability of dolphins will be 1/10.
2. How are the probabilities affected if each student replaces his or her sea animal
after picking it?
When a student replaces their sea animal, nothing will change. On the first pull, the
probability of getting a starfish is 3/10, because there are 10 sea animals and 3 of
them are starfish. If that starfish is replaced (put back in the fishpond), the
probability for the second pull is still 3/10, and that means the events are independent.
The result of one trial does not affect the result of another. Probabilities remain the
same.
3. Select one of the sea animals. Give an example of how the probabilities are
changed if that sea animal is replaced or not replaced after a student picks it out of
the fishpond.
Suppose a student picks out a sea animal at random from the fish pond, then replaces
it and a second animal is chosen. If replaced, the probability of choosing a starfish
and then a dolphin is; P(Starfish)= 3/10 P(dolphin)=
26. How 1960s Has Impacted And Influenced Today s Society
How have the 1960s dramatically impacted and influenced today s society? In today
s society, there are many controversial topics that we are facing today; we have the
1960s to thank for those things. The sixties was one of the most impactful decades
pertaining to culture revolutions; it is the decade that brought into play some of the
problems and privileges that the present is dealing with now. The sixties brought the
gay movement, women s rights, the drug revolution, and has also impacted music as
well. One of the most well known things about the sixties is its music. Bands in the
sixties started to break the conservative boundaries by talking about drugs and sex in
their music; the drugs and sex revolution in this music also... Show more content on

Drugs highly influence music in the sixties with bands such as The Byrds, The
Doors, The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Strawberry Alarm Clock, and The
Beatles. These bands took inspiration from the affects that the drugs had on them
with their psychedelic properties. Drugs were also just starting to get introduced
and people were highly influenced with positive drug propaganda ( The 60 s ). So,
the positivity about drugs were influencing the bands and the bands were influencing
the people and the more dugs being bought, the more people heard about them, and
the more people heard about them, the more they were used, so basically it was just
an endless cycle of drug positivity.
So now there are more than a hundred thousand people in America who are being
influenced by this music that expresses sex and drug use in positive ways. Also,
with the invention for the birth control pill in 1960, the consequences of having
sex lessened and now women could be just as involved in it as men where. In 1962,
1.2 million American women were using it and by 1965 that number reached to 2.3
million women (Nikolchev). In the 1950s, sex would have barley been herd of
outside of marriage, but now into the sixties, it became more and more common for
teens and young adults to be irresponsible.
In today s society sex and drugs are common place. Media now a days show, talk
about, or make references to sex. Anyone could turn on their TV and

**This recipe is very similar to Tamale s Industry, but this recipe uses Masa Mix
(Which Tamale s Industry does not use). This is the recipe and preparation that we
give out, the true recipe and preparation is Family Secret. This is still a good way
for others to make tamales**
Start with the equipment you need:
Before beginning your tamale adventure, you re going to need some important tools
of the trade. Some substitutions can of course be made, but we ll show you what we
prefer.
Large steaming vessel: We use a large stainless pot with a glass lid and a large
perforated steaming basket. The larger the better. Although tamales are certainly
worth the trouble, fact is they can be a decent amount of work. You wouldn t want to

That s the cooking of the meat, and the soaking of the corn husks. These steps take
time and if you don t allow for them, they ll throw off your whole day.
Let s start with cooking the meat. The best way to do this is the night before
tamale day. You ll need two large pots. Cut the pork roast into 5 or 6 large chunks.
Place the chicken in one pot and the roast in the other and cover both with water.
This is also a fun place to throw in some garlic cloves, onion slices, or anything else
you think might serve the meat well. Bring to a boil. The chicken will be done in
about 2 hours, the roast will need at least 2 ВЅ hours.
While the meats are cooking (if you re doing this all in one day), start soaking the
Corn Husks. You need to soak them submerged in warm water for at least 2 hours to
make them soft and pliable.
When the meats are done, let them cool in their liquid. If you have enough
refrigerator space, you can place them and their pots in the fridge overnight. This will
not only cool the meat, but also solidify the fat on top, making it easier to remove.
Remove both meats from their stock, but save the stock! This is a key ingredient
later on.
Now take the skin from the chicken and debone it shredding the meat with your
fingers. Shred the pork in a similar fashion while discarding as much fat out of the
meat as possible. Combine both of the meats.
In a small pot on the stove, warm 1/2 C of Corn Oil 6 Tbsp Chili
29. Ignorance And Happiness In Fahrenheit 451 And
Pleasantville
The world we have, where we live, comprises a vast amount of knowledge.
Knowledge refers to awareness or familiarity, obtained through learning,
discoveries, or education. When you born, your brain is a blank sheet of paper. As
you develop, your mind becomes conscious of facts and fills the clear piece of paper.
The writing on the paper is precious; thus the knowledgeis invaluable. Everyone
knows knowledge is precious, but have you ever thought: can knowledge make
people unhappy, distracted or suspicious? Ignorance is bliss plays a crucial character,
contemplating the above question. Ignorance is happiness; a phrase that is strongly
interpreted in the book Giver and the supporting films: Fahrenheit 451and
Pleasantville.
Ignorance is bliss is well explained in the book Giver due to the subsequent
explanations. The book Giver illustrates that everybody in the society is peaceful,
except Jonas and the Giver. The reason Jonas and Giver are depressed is that they
are mindful of all the unpleasant memories that have been given on for years. An
additional example that supports the phrase Unawareness is pleasure, is, when
Jonas s father goes for the releasing of a child, Jonas uncovers that releasing is
death. Before Jonas realized that releasing is death, he agreed on the concept of
releasing, but as he determines that releasing means death, that instant he says he
killed him, my father killed him, showing a shock, and sadness. The statement,
Illiteracy is happiness is correct because the examples illustrate that everyone in the
community is fortunate because they are innocent of everything, even colors. They
don t even know what is outside the town, so they claim it elsewhere. If people wish
to live a pleasant life, they should not be informed of everything
The movie Fahrenheit 451 provides a highly circumstantial evidence, for the phrase
Ignorance is bliss. The famous quote from the film Fahrenheit 451; If you do not
wish a house to set up, hide the nails and woods, meaning no one can build a house
without nails and woods. How does this quote justify Ignorance is bliss? The quote
states that if societies do not require people to have the intelligence, then all the
wisdom bearing materials

To make it even worse, imagine having this elevated rate continuing for over eight

McNeill has had difficulties regulating her heart rate; unfortunately, it was not until
her freshman year of college that she was correctly diagnosed with AVRNT, or AV

with cutting back on her sugar, Abbey also could not have too much caffeine. Of
course, the one drink that is known for its caffeine amount was the one Abbey could

31. Supernatural Malevolence In Macbeth
The Supernatural Malevolence in Macbeth
In William Shakespeare s time, around the 1600 s, the idea that the supernatural
existed was very common. It often can be found in his works, as he has a weakness
for dark themes and tragedies. In Macbeth, an impressionable, Scottish General goes
to great lengths in order to achieve the title of The King. Witchcraft looms incessantly
throughout the play, creating destruction and decay in its path. The supernatural that
lingers over Macbeth has a vital role in motivating his homicidal actions, doing so
through Lady Macbeth, delusions, and a prophecy.
To begin with, Lady Macbeth is the direct reason Macbeth murders Duncan, the King.
She encourages and manipulates him into murder, as she believes ... Show more

The spell that was placed on her is diminishing over time, and she is no longer tainted
with dark witchcraft; abundant guilt can no longer be overlooked. Shakespeare
makes an obvious connection between Lady Macbeth and the supernatural influence,
which leads her to encourage Macbeth into killing. It proves just how wicked the
supernatural is, and how it heavily motivated Macbeth into committing the murder he
needed to become King.
Next, in Act 2, Macbeth states that he can see a floating dagger in front of him, as
he is on his way to execute the King. This dagger is a supernatural object created
from the hands of the witches, to ensure that Macbeth can carry out the immoral
action. When spotting the knife, he exclaims, ... Or art thou but / A dagger of the
mind, a false creation / Proceeding from the heat oppressГЁd brain? / I see thee yet,
in form as palpable / As this which now I draw. Thou marshall st me the way that I
was going (2.1.38 43). This quote makes it very clear that the dagger is not a real
knife, and that it is a fabric of his imagination. It is reasonable to say that the
Wtches created this delusion in Macbeth s mind, since they are capable of
manipulating people with dark magic. Specifically, they swayed Lady Macbeth
earlier in the play to become even more twisted than she was. Moreover, Macbeth
also states that the dagger pushed him in the direction that he was already going,
which illustrates how the Witches are

republic with The Constitution of Singapore as their supreme law. They have a
nominated president as head of state, an appointed prime minister as head of
government, and appointed cabinet positions which are responsible for government

appointment style; rather than electing most offices. When the President gets elected
by the people, the President appoints a Prime Minister, who then appoints the cabinet.
The Prime Minister is the leader of the Parliament, which acts as the country s

has been in the news for evolving into more than one dominant political party. The

Blockbuster Video s Lost Competitive Advantage Analysis In its prime, Blockbuster
Video held a considerable advantage in the video rental industry. The company s
large presence within the industry allowed for the company to build a competitive

Unfortunately, the company was not able to sustain this advantage long term for a

35. Theme Of Ignorance In To Kill A Mockingbird
Hatred that is evident in society is the result of the gap between those of higher and
lower social standing. Whether it be by race or of class, bigotry and ignorance is
caused by this disconnect of culture; that it is only resisted by the ability to
empathize. This is the main idea and concept behind To Kill A Mockingbird
by Harper
Lee. It takes place in the small town of Maycomb, Alabama following the children
Scout Finch, Jem Finch, and Dill. The story is of Scout s perspective on the daily
life of Maycomb and also follows the other citizens of Maycomb. Lee shows us that
the source of this disconnect between the higher and the lower classes is not being
able to see the other person s reality and points out this flaw in many of the
characters. Amongst the many different kinds of ignorance shown is the
complacency of much of the snobbish upper class. This can be seen at the
beginning of the text where the students of the elementary school first arrive.
Walter Cunningham, a boy in the same class as Scout does not bring a lunch on
that day. Out of compassion , Miss Caroline offers Walter a quarter to spend for
lunch. Walter refuses her offer, and keeps making excuses for why he can t accept
the money, when in reality it is completely out of humility and pride. He kept on
refusing this and ... was lying his head off. He didn t forget his lunch,he didn t have
any. (26). Still, in spite of this Miss Caroline keep on insisting that it is for his

36. What Is A Historical Overview Of Christianity
It is never enough for a student of theology to receive historical narratives of
contexts that speak about the evil and corruption of humankind, at the same it is
important for the student as well as the reader of this paper to be reminded how
meaningful it is to read into the culture of certain people with respect to history and
culture of their time. This week s readings present a historical overview of Christianity
in the U.S., beginning from 1942 until the present. I intend to draw parallels from

day continues to crucificy Christ in every day contexts, whether it be culture or

of belonging to their in group, that being an American, United or a Catholic, is
central to their understanding of being a community. It is great to witness their

they see theology with the perspective of an American only? This claim can go

It is predicted that these numbers will keep on rising over the coming decades. It
doesn t only affect us but it affects globally and everyone such as wildlife, ocean
levels, farming and many more. The effects of car pollution are boundless,
affecting water, soil and air quality. Nitrous oxide is one of the main reasons for
the depletion of the ozone layer. The ozone layer is the layer which protects us
from harmful ultraviolet rays from the sun. Acid rains are caused because of
Sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide which are again emitted by cars. These gases
not only damages our health but also damages forests, vegetation and crops. The
spills of oils and fuel that we see from cars near highways pollutes rivers, lakes and
oceans. The one of the biggest reasons for switching to electric cars is that petrol
cars not only affects environment but it affects human health too. Diesel motors
radiate high levels of gasses, which consists of ash and metal. These causes eye and
skin irritation and hypersensitiveness. These small particles of ash and metal can
enter our lungs which can lead to respiratory issues. Chest pains and coughing can
also be caused by Ozone layer because ozone layer inflames lungs hence it makes it
hard to breathe and relax. Carbon monoxide is one of the

41. Similarities Between Macbeth And A Midsummer Night s
Dream
The supernatural, generally understood, includes all phenomena that cannot be
explained by the known and accepted laws of natural science. In literature, it may be
used to develop outcomes unimaginable to natural domains or it may be brought into
play as simply a human belief that progresses into motive for power, concluding with
results reached by purely natural means. Macbeth and A Midsummer Night s Dream
both maintain an element of the whimsical and supernatural, in completely separate
manners. Whether the supernatural aspect is in the appearance of a ghost or the
description of an ancient god, it often bears a connection to the larger scheme of the
play. The witches of Macbeth serve as catalysts whereas the fairies of A Midsummer

The witches who prove time and time again that their prophecies speak the truth
lead Macbeth to continue heeding their words. Predicting the future is a
supernatural act, but mere humans make these prophesies come true. The
apparitions are the foundation of the witches scheme; they further trick and blind
Macbeth of the truth by making him believe that he is invincible. Macbeth is
deceived for none of woman born/Shall harm Macbeth and Macbeth shall never
vanquished be until/Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill/shall come
against him (Macbeth.IV.i.91 92, 105 107). Macbeth possesses such a great deal
of faith in the words of the witches that a false sense of security is established. It is
not until the final battle where Macbeth experiences the brutal betrayal of his own
ignorance when his servant looked toward Birnam, and anon [he thought]/the
wood began to move (Macbeth.V.v.38 39). Aware of the verity behind the
revelations, Macbeth puts far too much trust in the witches. It is when Macduff,
reveals himself to be born of a C section does Macbeth realize his own demise.
Macbeth who willingly succumbs to the witches authority, has power over his fate
whereas the lovers of A Midsummer Night s Dream do not. Fate is intertwined
with probability in the form of Puck. From the beginning, one associates Puck with
the conflict between the Athenian lovers. Their fate was not theirs to choose as it
is in Puck s hands. Lord, what fools these mortals be , Puck gleefully expresses as
he comments on the falling in and out of love of the Athenian lovers, he inflicts
himself (A Midsummer Night s Dream.III.ii.115). From mistaken identities to lovers
quarrels, the lives of the mortal characters of A Midsummer Night s Dream was no
longer theirs to control. Unlike Macbeth, however, A Midsummer Night s Dream
resolves on a lighter note as identities are
42. Analysis Of The Book The Stitches
Throughout the childhood of David Small, he had to face with difficult realities.
These difficulties came from many sources: his family, his illness, his society, ...
However, David still managed to survived through. All of the struggles are depicted
successfully in Stitches which are overwhelmed with silences and secrets via an
interesting form of literature: comic book.
The Stitches is a memoir by David Small about the life of himself since he was a
child. In the first pages of the book, the silence is prevailed the atmosphere as no
one in the Small family has a word to others in the dinner. No one talks, and no one
understand the others. After the dinner, members of the family live in their own
world: Dad ... [goes] down to his basement and thumped a punching bag , my
brother ... [beats] on his drum. (17) Even David learns a way of expressing ...
wordlessly as he is always getting sick. (18) His dad, as a doctor, is supposed to
know what to do to cure him. (20) However, his treatment consists of a heavy dose
of x rays exposure, which causes a growth on his neck. Initially this growth is
diagnosed as a sebaceous cyst; nevertheless, after the first surgery this growth is re
diagnosed as a dangerous cancer that one of his vocal cords must be removed
together with the tumor in the following surgery. This time David is physically
silenced; but his silence doesn t change anything in his house. They are still detached
from others. Moreover, his parents always complain that they

Essay
Analysis of William Wordsworth s Poem We Are Seven
William Wordsworth s poem, We are Seven, is about a person talking to a young
girl about her and her six siblings. Throughout the poem, the narrator gave the young
girl a very difficult time when she persisted that simply because not all seven
children were home together, or alive, they were still seven. The narrator was giving
the young girl a hard time because he wanted her to remember and understand that
just because she and her siblings are separated does not make them any less siblings.
Wordsworth says that two of the seven siblings are at Conway. In what way would
two siblings being far from home make them be considered not siblings? Would that
not be like saying to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the poem, the little girl says, Two of us in the church yard lie, / My sister and
my brother; (Lines 21 22). Insisting that they are still seven, the young girl shows a
lot of grace and mature understanding. This is the majority of the poem because the
narrator thinks it is most important that the young girl understands she has still has
five siblings, despite two of them have passed and, their graves are green, they
may be seen (Line 37). The girl is only eight years of age and she understands that
her deceased siblings are still her siblings even though they are not still living.
Making sure she understands she still has five siblings is exactly what the narrator
s goal is, but the narrator is pretending to believe they are only five. The narrator
reinforces his belief in lines 35 36: If two are in the church yard laid,/ Then ye are
only five. The conversation resurfaces later in the poem, in lines 61 64: How many
are you, then, said I,/ If they two are in heaven?/ Quick was the little Maid s reply,
/ O Master! We are seven. No matter what is said by the narrator, the eight year old
girl insists that they are seven. Two siblings being dead is the most reinforced
because the narrator and the little girl know that her siblings at Conway or at sea are
anticipated to return home sometime. The other two, the deceased two, will never
return home.
The small gal lightly touches on two of her other siblings who are

45. The Minister s Black Veil, By Edgar Allen Poe
During the 18th and 19th century America expanded their writing style into a new
genre called Gothic Literature. This type of genre was invented originally in
Europe but became popular in America quickly. This new genre allowed authors to
portray a darker side in their works. Before this style was created, the only literature
written was based upon romance. The romantic appeal still shows in some of these
stories but is not the main aspect of the writing. The choice of evil in any type of
writing was extremely sparse and the majority considered it to be insane. A copious
amount of authors had the opportunity to grow and form this new style of writing.

The audience continues to read these writings for the sense of unknown and
mystery in each character s fate. With the characters in the stories not knowing
what is going on, each word the reader comprehends grasp them into the story even
more. The expansion of works published during this time grew tremendously.
Many new authors grew with the addition of Gothic Literature including Nathaniel
Hawthorne, Washington Irving, and Charles Brockden Brown. But the most
known author, of this genre, would be considered Edgar Allen Poe. He has
composed an abundant number of compositions, including The Raven, The
Minister s Black Veil, and The Fall of the House of Usher. Poe s optimum piece of
writing would have to be bona fide Classic, The Raven. The Raven is an
astonishing example of how a piece of Gothic Literature should be written. The
repetition of certain words throughout any Gothic poem emphasises the meaning of
a specific word or phrase. Quoth the Raven Nevermore (Line 85) is an ideal
example of repetition. The word Nevermore is very significant in the poem. Poe
states that the Raven will never leave his home and that his wife, Lenore, will never
come
46. Legalizing Assistive Suicide
Assistive suicide, also known as euthanasia, is suicide committed by someone with
assistance from others, typically to end suffering from a severe physical illness
(American Heritage Dictionary, 615). This action is most commonly committed
between doctor and patient interactions. This controversial issue depicts suicides as
a helpful solution to personally benefit terminally ill patients, as opposed to a
forbidden social issue. Assistive suicide has become a major debate of legalization.
This is an act of a physician prescribing a drug to a patient which drug the patient is
able to take on his or her own without the assistance of a medical provider or another
person. This drug generally results in unconsciousness within five minutes and death
within thirty (Levin, May 08, 2002). My concern with this matter has reached high
limits. Due to the fact that is still illegal in certain states many patients aren t able to
relieve their pain or suffering. Assistive suicide is meant as a solution to end
personal suffering, its not to involve the public s opinion or decisions. This should
be a personal choice. Assistive suicide should be an elective choice for anyone and
everyone facing terminal illness. Not enabling assisted suicideviolates human rights
and infringes inalienable rights.
Although illegal and a crime, assistive suicide has been attempted in the past. In
February 2013 a case of assisted suicide was charged against Philadelphia nurse

47. The Evolution And Impact Of Jazz Dance On The World
The Evolution and Impact of Jazz Dance On The World Jazz dance originated from
the African American vernacular dance from the late 1800 s when slaves needed an
emotional and physical outlet (Guarnino and Oliver). The slave trade had begun
and the slaves were allowed dance on the boats, as it was to keep the slaves fit for
their journey to North America. The slave owners took interest in this type of dance
(Guarnino and Oliver). They then integrated their European jigs with the music and
movement of the African culture (Guarnino and Oliver). Africans primarily focused
on the rhythms and the movement of the torso and the Europeans focused on the
harmony and the folk dance (Guarnino and Oliver). Jazz dance is blended with tap
and musical theatre. It has exciting body movements, percussion techniques, tap
steps, and ballet. New forms of jazz dance evolved as different types of music were
coming out such as the Charleston, swing, Caribbean reggae, and hip hop (Guarnino
and Oliver). In the 1840 s, minstrel shows were developed from the European
traditions of masks and carnival (Guarnino and Oliver). The blackface phenomenon
was known as the white and African Americans performers dressed up wearing black
masks (Guarnino and Oliver). They would impersonate the African American dance
forms; minstrel shows were the ...First emanation of a pervasive and purely American
mass culture as well as the heart of the nineteenth century (Guarnino and Oliver).

Inside FedEx Express
Introduction
As a Secretary of Defense Corporate Fellow during 2005 2006, I was assigned to
work at FedEx Express located in Memphis, Tennessee. FedEx Express provides time
critical delivery services and associated information assistance globally. It is one of
several Operating Companies (OPCO) within FedEx Corporation. Other OPCOs
include: FedEx Custom Critical, FedEx Ground, FedEx Freight, and FedEx Kinko s.
Each OPCO operates independently, competes collectively, and manages
collaboratively. FedEx Services, FedEx Trade Networks,... Show more content on

What began as domestic delivery became global delivery with the acquisition of
Flying Tigers in 1989. ByIn 1995, FedEx became the sole U.S. based all cargo carrier
in China.
Time critical package delivery expanded to include deferred delivery with the 1998
purchase of Caliper, which owned RPS, and became FedEx Ground in 2000. Viking
Freight, the Less Than Truckload (LTL) component of that purchase, was initially
less important than Caliper. But Smith and his senior executives recognized the
opportunity to expand their delivery reach and in 2001 bought American Freightways
to combine with Viking to make FedEx Freight.
FedEx Services was created in 2000 as a vehicle to merge Sales, Marketing, and
Technology support for FedEx Express and FedEx Ground. This manage
collaboratively effort was a well devised method of creating efficiency and customer
focus into the FedEx brand, while maintaining independent operating companies.
Today, Services coordinates these functions and ecommerce activities for FedEx
Freight as well.

attractive outlets to reach FedEx retail customers. FedEx also placed a bet on
providing business solutions as opposed to only package delivery. Kinko s catersed
to small businesses a key market for growth.

51. The Right And Freedom Of Vote
Democracy is a term that is common to all Canadians and many other global
citizens around the world. However, the right and freedom to vote in a government
in which the general public chooses is a concept that many people do not take full
advantage of. One of the largest groups of citizens who tend to not be politically
involved are Canada s youth and young adults. Many ask why it is this certain group
that decides to distance themselves from the polling stations during electiontimes.
Could it be the disinterest in voting? Could it be the participation in other non
electoral outlets, such as protest groups? One of the main reasons that has been
discussed, whether it be in political science classrooms or sitting around the dinner

The best way to reach youth is through their main sources of entertainment and well
being. Three main areas that would be best to introduce politics to youth would be
through the family, school education and through social media. If these three
outlets are properly utilized, the information that youth voters understand about
politics will hopefully encourage them to go out and vote on election day. As
youth get older, they look more to their peers for acceptance on many aspects of
life (SOURCE PSYCH BOOK). Although youth distance themselves from family
as they get older, they look to their parents and family for advice when they are
younger. In order to strike interest in youth, you must start early, in the years where
families are still the most important entity in their lives. Parents influence a child s
core values from the day they are born. As children grow up, the end of their days
consist of family talks at dinner time and other family connections, when so much
time is spent around such influential sources, it should become the responsibility of
parents to speak to their children about politics; even to just make them aware of the
basics. Parents are the main influence on children, not only through values, but they
teach through example (SOURCE RCMP). If a child is to see their parents
becoming politically involved and active in voting, it is possible that they will
