Borobudur is the largest Buddhist temple in the world, located in Indonesia. It was built in the 9th century under the Sailendra dynasty and features over 500 Buddha statues and 1460 relief panels depicting Buddhist teachings. The temple is constructed in 10 terraces that symbolize different stages of enlightenment. Despite its grandeur, Borobudur was abandoned and covered by volcanic ash until its rediscovery in the 19th century. It remains an important pilgrimage site and UNESCO World Heritage Site that provides insights into Buddhism and Indonesia's rich cultural history.
