Fundata is the highest commune in Romania, located in Brasov County in the historic region of Transylvania. It consists of three villages at an altitude of 1360 meters, offering beautiful views of the surrounding Piatra Craiului and Bucegi Mountains. While traditionally a herding community, tourism now augments the local economy, with Sirnea becoming Romania's first designated tourist village in 1968. The commune preserves the traditional lifestyle while attracting visitors interested in hiking in the mountains and learning about the local culture and history.
