1. Lehi has two visions from God - in the first he sees a pillar of fire and hears a prophecy, and in the second he sees God on his throne surrounded by angels.
2. Lehi flees into the wilderness with his family - his wife Sariah, sons Laman, Lemuel, Nephi, and Sam - after prophesying judgment against Jerusalem.
3. Nephi desires to know the mysteries of God and believes his father's words, unlike Laman and Lemuel who murmur and doubt, creating a contrast between the brothers.

Bible Truths - Prophecy of Daniel and Revelation - The River of Life #11 - This presentation is about how to get a new beginning in life and how to be clean before God. It begins with the story of Naaman, the leper who was healed when he washed in the Jordan. We too have the disease of sin and need cleansing. Baptism is a sign that we are humbling ourselves, obeying God, and having sin washed away. Christ has given us an example and we ought to follow Him.

Bible Truths - Prophecy of Daniel and Revelation - The Unchangeable Law #6 - Are the Ten Commandments important and relevant today? What is the purpose of God's law? Were they done away with after Jesus came? Is the law eternal or has it changed? We are not under the law but under grace, but does that mean we have the freedom to break the law? The day is coming when laws will be passed regarding worship which goes against God's laws. Those who pass the laws will believe what they are doing is right and biblical. We need to know the difference between God's laws and man's laws.

Aug. 26 Sunday School lesson, finishing up Ruth. When dealing with Boaz, Ruth didn't just travel to the 'outlet mall' for some bargain basement clearance caliber of husband! Because she was busy serving God, loving people, and oh by the way allowing God to prepare His will in this 'department', you see what happened in her life, the many "great values" that she found! Pardon the shopping analogies, but this little book has some great godly characters who grew in caring about others, and left a tremendous legacy (read the surprise ending). This book has a lot to do with how God eternally loves, waits on and serves us -- look for Jesus! God Bless!!

Exploring the Mindfulness Understanding Its Benefits.pptxMartaLoveguard
Slide 1: Title: Exploring the Mindfulness: Understanding Its Benefits
Slide 2: Introduction to Mindfulness
Mindfulness, defined as the conscious, non-judgmental observation of the present moment, has deep roots in Buddhist meditation practice but has gained significant popularity in the Western world in recent years. In today's society, filled with distractions and constant stimuli, mindfulness offers a valuable tool for regaining inner peace and reconnecting with our true selves. By cultivating mindfulness, we can develop a heightened awareness of our thoughts, feelings, and surroundings, leading to a greater sense of clarity and presence in our daily lives.
Slide 3: Benefits of Mindfulness for Mental Well-being
Practicing mindfulness can help reduce stress and anxiety levels, improving overall quality of life.
Mindfulness increases awareness of our emotions and teaches us to manage them better, leading to improved mood.
Regular mindfulness practice can improve our ability to concentrate and focus our attention on the present moment.
Slide 4: Benefits of Mindfulness for Physical Health
Research has shown that practicing mindfulness can contribute to lowering blood pressure, which is beneficial for heart health.
Regular meditation and mindfulness practice can strengthen the immune system, aiding the body in fighting infections.
Mindfulness may help reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and obesity by reducing stress and improving overall lifestyle habits.
Slide 5: Impact of Mindfulness on Relationships
Mindfulness can help us better understand others and improve communication, leading to healthier relationships.
By focusing on the present moment and being fully attentive, mindfulness helps build stronger and more authentic connections with others.
Mindfulness teaches us how to be present for others in difficult times, leading to increased compassion and understanding.
Slide 6: Mindfulness Techniques and Practices
Focusing on the breath and mindful breathing can be a simple way to enter a state of mindfulness.
Body scan meditation involves focusing on different parts of the body, paying attention to any sensations and feelings.
Practicing mindful walking and eating involves consciously focusing on each step or bite, with full attention to sensory experiences.
Slide 7: Incorporating Mindfulness into Daily Life
You can practice mindfulness in everyday activities such as washing dishes or taking a walk in the park.
Adding mindfulness practice to daily routines can help increase awareness and presence.
Mindfulness helps us become more aware of our needs and better manage our time, leading to balance and harmony in life.
Slide 8: Summary: Embracing Mindfulness for Full Living

Mindfulness has the power to change our perspective and way of perceiving the world, leading to deeper se
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
Book of Mormon Gospel Doctrine - Lesson 2 all things according to his will

2.
3. I Nephi…..Chapter 1, Verse 1
I, Nephi, having been born of goodly parents,
therefore I was taught somewhat in all the
learning of my father;
4. Lehi’s “First Vision”
1 Nephi 1:6
Moses and the burning bush
he saw a pillar of fire which came down from
Heaven and dwelt upon an earthly object, from
which emanated a prophecy of some kind which
caused him to quake and tremble
Lehi’s “Second Vision” – 1 Nephi 1:7
Like John the Divine, Steven the Martyr, and a few
select others, the door of Heaven was opened to
him and he saw, in a second vision, "God sitting
upon his throne, surrounded with numberless
concourses of angels" and Jesus Christ with him
Also like John, a book was delivered to him
5. The Patriarch - Lehi
1 Nephi Chapter 1

that he was well-off (v. 1:
"goodly")
that he listened to the prophets (v.
4)
that he had great care and
concern for his fellow-citizens (v.
5)
that his instant approach to
worries was to pray (v. 5)
that he was educated and wrote a
great deal (v. 16--see the link in
the previous post theorizing that
he may have been a scribe by
trade)
that he was a seer (v. 13)
that because of his own
communications from the Lord he
became a prophet or missionary
that he was not swayed by public
opinion (v. 19)
that he had a powerful testimony
of Jesus Christ (v. 19)
and he did not see any success
in his mission, and was even
threatened with death for it (v.
20).

2:12 Knew not the dealings of…..God
3:7 Was willing to go and do what the
Lord commanded

Sariah had followed her

1 Nephi 7:6-7
Nephi’s Response: v. 8-15
Editor's Notes
Nephi stated in his first sentence that he suffered many trials but he recognized that he was highly favored of the Lord. When those trials began in earnest on the journey to the Promised Land, Nephi needed to know for himself whether the family was on the right path.
Personal application: role of "goodly parents": Although it is a phrase used in an introductory formula, we can still assume that there is validity in Nephi's assertion that he was born of "goodly parents". The most significant part of the passage for modern parents isn't the "goodly", but rather the "therefore". In that second clause Nephi defines some of the reasons which created the title of "goodly parents". For Nephi, the goodliness of his parents was directly related to their instruction. Just as Lehi and Sariah, we are required to instruct our children in the not only the bare necessities of life, but symbolically in all of the learning of our fathers and whatever we might construe as the language of the Egyptians. Certainly there is something pragmatic in this learning, but I suspect that it included a sufficiently wide range of topics which could forge the mind and soul of a young man who eventually became the Nephi we recognize in the pages of scripture.
Lehi’s First Vision has many similarities to those of other prophets throughout time
1 Nephi 2:9-14
(3:31) "...An angel of the Lord came and stood before them, and he spake unto them, saying...Behold ye shall go up to Jerusalem again, and the Lord will deliver Laban into your hands...And after the angel had departed, Laman and Lemuel again began to murmur, saying: How is it possible that the Lord will deliver Laban into our hands? Behold he is a mighty man, and he can command fifty, yea, even he can slay fifty; then why not us?"
1 Nephi 4:6 – “And I was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do”
1 Nephi 6:4 – “For the fullness of mine intent is that I may persuade men to come unto the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob, and be saved
1 Nephi 7:21 – “And it came to pass that I did frankly forgive them all that they had done, and I did exhort them that they would pray unto the Lord their God for forgiveness….”
The brother that might be the best role model for many of us is Sam, remarkable because he is unremarkable. Mentioned only 11 times in the Book of Mormon, we first hear that he listened to his younger brother Nephi (1 Ne. 2:17) and he believed. Not much is said of him, but each time he is mentioned he is found on the Lord's side. (What a great epitaph that would be!)
(5:2-3) "For she had supposed that we had perished in the wilderness; and she also had complained against my father, telling him that he was a visionary man; saying: Behold thou hast led us forth from the land of our inheritance, and my sons are no more, and we perish in the wilderness. And after this manner of language had my mother complained against my father."
