1. Lehi has two visions from God - in the first he sees a pillar of fire and hears a prophecy, and in the second he sees God on his throne surrounded by angels. 2. Lehi flees into the wilderness with his family - his wife Sariah, sons Laman, Lemuel, Nephi, and Sam - after prophesying judgment against Jerusalem. 3. Nephi desires to know the mysteries of God and believes his father's words, unlike Laman and Lemuel who murmur and doubt, creating a contrast between the brothers.
