1) Four young men from Judah - Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah - were selected to be trained in Babylon after Nebuchadnezzar besieged Jerusalem. They were given Babylonian names but Daniel refused to eat the king's food which violated his faith. 2) Daniel asked to be fed vegetables and water for 10 days, which a steward allowed. After 10 days, Daniel and his friends looked healthier than those who ate the king's food. 3) God gave the four men wisdom and skills in both knowledge and life. Daniel especially could interpret visions and dreams. After their training, they far surpassed all the other men and served the king
