The Argument And Critical Inquiry Essay
1.When was the last time you got into an argument? What is an argument? Is it the same as a
shouting match, a brawl? What does an argument have to do with critical thinking? What is the
relationship between arguments and critical inquiry?
The last time that I was involved in an argument, was on the drive to Cypress Hills. The argument
was based on whether the Cypress Hills are Mountains or Hills. An argument is a set of claims, that
is supported by premises. Although an argument may lead to a shouting match or a brawl, they are
speaking of the word argument in a different context. There is more than one definition to the word
argument. In our case we are interested in arguments as a set of claims, not a yelling match between
two people. Arguments are related to critical thinking, since you must evaluate the issue and form a
reasoned judgement.
2.Do you think teachers should teach students how to argue well? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I think knowing how to form and structure sound, valid arguments is important. Students
should also learn common flaws and fallacies to arguments. Teaching students how to argue well,
allows them to create arguments based on evidence. Knowing these skills allows students to
evaluate issues and form reasoned judgements, which is beneficial in every day life. These skills
can be taught many ways in school, for example through the implementation of debates or the art of
essay writing and can be used cross circular in many

Total Quality Management Theory
Introduction
Most organizational management theories descend either from Frederick Taylor s scientific
management theory or from Elton Mayo s human relations model. Total Quality Management
(TQM) theory grew out of existing organizational management theories, in part, as a response to the
problems in those theories. Edwards Deming and Joseph Juran are most responsible for the
development of TQM. Deming and Juran began work on TQM in the 1930s and continued shaping
the management model into the 1990s. During the 1930s, Deming and Juran studied with Walter
Shewhart who developed Statistical Quality Control (SQC) theory. SQC argued that as quality
improves, costs go down and productivity increases. SQC provided for continuous ... Show more

And the goal of the TQM model is to provide a systematic way to meet customers expectations. This
orientation calls for changing the organization s focus, considering how this change impacts on
traditional performance measures, and identifying the customers and determining their relative
importance. This section will now analyze how IS Admissions might implement Total Quality
Management theory as a method of organizational effectiveness. IS Admissions a production
organization is responsible for processing applications for admission to the COT. If IS Admissions
implemented the core concepts of TQM theory identified in this essay, the office would be managed
as follows: 1. Promoting stakeholder satisfaction will be championed by the program manager.
Juran defines stakeholders and customers those who will be impacted or affected by the products
and processes required to attain the quality goals. IS Admissions should consider current and
potential customers and stake holders both internal and external. External customers or
stakeholders are those directed served by IS Admissions. Internal customers or stakeholders are the
individuals or groups that receive the results from any individual s work. An organization must
meet the needs of both internal and external customers. A cross functional work groups represented
by all relevant departments will serve in this quality planning activity. Through quality

Brass Band Civil War
Brass Bands were a popular ensemble centered around the Civil War era. Crawford and
Hamberlin (2013) credit these ensembles to being an exhibition of Nationalism and patriotism for
their respective sides of the Union or Confederacy. Brass bands were initially used by the military
to boost the morale of soldiers. After many of these musicians served their time in the army, they
still performed simply for the love of music. Brass bands generally consisted of brass instruments
such as the bugle, cornet, sackbut, saxhorn, snare and bass drum. A unique instrument of the
ensemble is the saxhorn (APPENDIX A), an instrument family consisting of the flugelhorn,
baritone, and alto horn. Today, the instrument is still used but mostly as euphonium/baritone,
flugelhorn, or mellophone. Lewis (2015), discusses a twelve key bugle unique to the Civil War
era, to be a very common solo instrument. This keyed bugle was an improvement to the original
open key bugle of the American Revolutionary War (APPENDIX B). Two songs unique to both
Civil War and Post Civil War era brass bands are Battle Hymn of the Republic and Dixie. The Battle
Hymn of the Republic was a poem by Julia Howe with a refrain that was later added with the
chorus Glory,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Originally composed as a minstrel tune, it would become the anthem of the Confederacy. Dixie
Is a binary form composition, with a simple musical theme introduced, followed by a chorus. The
original idea is restated with the same lyrics, or an instrumental solo, proceeded again with the
main chorus of the song. (APPENDIX C). Unlike the Battle Hymn, Dixie does not have a military
feel. Instead, it resembles folk music. Currently, brass bands serve as a great influence for military
style marching bands in America. Runnels (2016) shares an example where these original brass
band compositions are still performed as a source of patriotism and national

The Movie, Good Will Hunting Essay
The movie, Good Will Hunting (1997), is about a young twenty year old man named Will
Hunting. Will Hunting lives in a rather impoverished area in South Boston and is a young
janitor who typically drinks with his friends in his free time, however, Will is actually an
indiscreet self taught genius. During the first week of classes at MIT, Will solves a difficult
graduate level math problem that one of the math professors left an extremely difficult problem
on the board to challenge his students, in hopes that someone would solve it by the end of the
semester (Van Sant, 1997). However, Will solves the problem but does not want to let anyone
know that it was him that solved the difficult equation, therefore it came to everyone s surprise
when they discovered it was actually Will who solved the problem in such a short matter of
time, indicating his hidden intellect (Van Sant, 1997). Outside of work, Will got into an
argument with a group of boys who previously tried to bully him (Van Sant, 1997). Because of
this incident, Will was arrested after hitting the officer who responded to the fight (Van Sant,
1997). Throughout Will s trial, the math professor who initially wrote the problem on the board,
began intervening with his trial, after realizing Will s potential when he notices Will s intellect in
defending himself (Van Sant, 1997). The professor arranges a deal with the court and Will was

Essay on The Pros and Cons of Ethnographic Reflexivity
The Advantages and Limits of Ethnographic Reflexivity
Awareness of writing choices generates an appreciation of the reflexivity of ethnographic research.
Reflexivity involves the recognition that an account of reality does not simply mirror reality but
rather creates or constitutes as real in the first place whatever it describes. Thus the notion of
reflexivity recognizes that texts do not simply and transparently report an independent order of
reality. Rather, the texts themselves are implicated in the work of reality construction (Emerson et.
al., 1995:213).
According to Robert M. Emerson and colleagues, reflexivity is a method in which the ethnographer
is aware that his/her writing choices are shaped to acknowledge the ... Show more content on

In her ethnography she writes how she had to reconstruct her self in order to fit in to Japanese
society. She looked Japanese but she did not act the way a native Japanese would act. Her
informants than taught her how to act like a native and in this process she began to understand
aspects of the Japanese culture. She mentions:
These factors perhaps gave me a certain kind of participatory understanding of certain aspects of
Japanese society. It also meant that, once I became an active participant in various groups (family,
factory, etc.) my knowledge was circumscribed. For example, therefore did not have free access to
certain people, and I could not ask certain questions that a foreigner less aware of indelicacy could
have posed with impunity (84).
In forming a self in Japanese society she notes that one is more accessible to gaining further
understanding about the culture being studied. Thus, she critiques the traditional ethnographic
methods because she finds that older text make objective assumptions that are not necessary the
reality of a culture. The assumptions than are seen as the true reality and full understanding of a
culture. On the contrary, reflexivity implies that ethnographic knowledge is intrinsically incomplete
and relative (84). Thus she suggest, that the best path to studying cultures is to acknowledge our
bias, assumptions and that of our informants to trace the parameters, the

Personal Note On Chinese New Year
I was back home in China celebrating Chinese Lunar New Year with my parents for the first time
in 5 years. Fireworks outside the window were so loud that I could feel the floor was shaking. My
parents and I were sitting on the couch and stared at the TV screen. No one was talking. This
Chinese New Year was different from what it was like when I was a kid. When I was still in
Elementary school, I looked forward to Chinese New Yearthe most. There were so many cool

Every year, Masters from all kinds of entertainment fields gathered up and offered their best

screen, in hope to find out how the magician performed such a mind blowing magic.
Since adults believed firing fireworks would bring good fortunes to the new year, the sky would
be covered with fireworks during the night before Lunar New Year. My dad was a firm believer
of such a superstition and enthusiastically joined the firework party every year. The day before
Lunar New Year, my dad would take me on a trip looking for new fireworks. We always picked
the biggest one we could find on the market. As the clock approached 12 pm, the firework party
started. The silence of the night would be interrupted by the first sound of fireworks. Following
the first sound of firework, thousands of fireworks shot up the sky and exploded into many
colorful, beautiful patterns. My and I would also light up our firework to join the party. As a
kid, the sight was as splendid as it could ever get. As the time approached 12 pm, the fireworks had
only gotten louder than before. I stood up to get myself ready to light our fireworks. My dad
looked at me curiously, and asked: Where are you going? Before I was about to tell him that I was

Impossibility Of Moral Responsibility Analysis
The Illusion of Free Will or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Embrace the Basic Argument
Arguments pro et contra the possibility of free will inevitably attempt to answer the question on
whether or not moral responsibility is possible. In Impossibility of Moral Responsibility
philosopher Galen Strawson attempts to show proof that, not only is moral responsibility
impossible, but it necessarily follows, whether or not determinismturns out to be true or false. It is
my contention that Strawson s argument is correct, and it is impossible for us to be responsible

Reading On Reading Disabilities And Dyslexia
Everyone faces day to day challenges that can limit him or her in many different ways. Some
struggles are easier to overcome than others, especially if the struggle is concentrated in one
particular area. Yet, those who struggle with reading disabilities in general, including dyslexia may
not have the easiest time overcoming it. Not being able to read may lead to other issues with
spelling, grammar, and general comprehension of material. This literature review will be covering
many previous done studies that focus on reading disabilities and dyslexia. Through examining this
literature it should give some answer to my overall thesis, which is how is dyslexia connected to
reading disabilities and what can be done to help those who are struggling.
Reading Disabilities One of the first questions that should be answered is what is the definition of a
reading disability. One of the books shares the following; A reading disability exists where there is
a significant discrepancy between reading ability and intellectual potential (Roswell and Natchez
1964: 2). This is not the only definition and has been shared that, The lack of specificity in the
definition of learning disability has created considerable confusion [...] (Cornwall and Bawden
1992: 281). Knowing that not one definition fits this topic can help better understand how each
piece of literature varies. How one is able to evaluate if someone has a reading disability is
important in aiding what help can be given to

The best adapted seals can dive to depths of 1600 metres. An analogue of the Plesiosaur, in terms
of dive depth, diet, and body shape, is the modern Sea Lion. The sea lion has been known to dive
up to two hundred metres. Additionally, Plesiosaurs В‘used their hyperphalangic paddles for
subaqueous flight in the manner of modern sea lions (Chatterjee Small, 1989).
Sea lions and whales, Plesiosaur analogues, can endure environments which would kill a human.
Humans are at risk of illness or death when returning from a great depth to the ocean s surface.
Under pressure, nitrogen liquefies, or dissolves into the bloodstream, and an abrupt reduction in

Invest In Driverless Cars
Driverless cars have long been in debate since Google made its announcement for an autonomous
car. Although driverless cars are feared because they may cause more accidents, the first
autonomous car accident was at the fault of a human. The advancements that driverless cars offer to
modern technology and its potential market deems itself more beneficial than not. Therefore,
automobilemanufacturing companies should invest in driverless cars.
Autonomous cars would be labeled as a disruptive innovation since its implementation could lead
to a lower demand for normal cars. This never before seen technology may very well be the new hit

Companies often face cultural lock in, or essentially the fear of change. One reason that Kodak
has failed had been that it failed to commercialize its film technology due to its inability to adapt to
the growing technology. However, the manufacturer could bring in additional expertise to gain
more insight on the profitability of the technology and train employees of its uses. Additionally, the
manufacturer could assess the demand for driverless cars by releasing a few self driving cars as a
test run. If the run is deemed profitable the company could incrementally increase funding towards
the technology. The automobile manufacturer also would not fall too far behind in terms of
competition. Many companies that wait for competitors to test run products often fall off the
market because they join the game too late. Consumers also tend to lean towards brands that they
know are reliable, rather than fresh companies. With this method, the company would not lose as
much if autonomous car did not attract as many consumers as anticipated.

Through the use of emotive language, rhetorical questions, similes and inclusive language, I
was able to portray Lord Capulet s emotion and expression towards his daughter s death. By
following the required eulogy structure, I started my persuasive writing with a simple, yet
formal introduction which gave the audience an impression of Juliet s unique personality, I then
ordered the three body paragraphs in chronological order and ended with a strong, yet personal
conclusion. By including emotive language (e.g. sorrow, loss, saddens) I was able to represent a
range of emotions felt by Juliet s loved ones. I also included the persuasive techniques of attack,
praise and inclusive language. This was in order to understand that a number of people were
feeling this great loss. The rhetorical question (but why did God grant you but half a life?) allows
the audience to wonder and see things from Lord Capulet s point of view. Overall, the above
choices I made allowed my eulogy to become more emotive and captured the attention of the
audience, to allow them to mourn together over the loss of Lord Capulet s daughter,

Rocky Balboa Research Paper
Thesis: Growing up, my dad was always a fan of Rocky and of course that means whenever they
show it on TV we had no choice to watch the numerous Rocky movies. These movies were never
about boxing, but showing the beating of life physically and emotionally. Especially in Rocky
Balboa(5) which this review is going to be focased on.
Plot: Rocky Balboa is about a former heavyweight champion Rocky Balboa(Sylvester Stallone) ,
who steps out of retirement and back in the ring, with a heavy heart for the sport of boxing.
Rocky soon connects back with his son (Milo Ventimiglia) after the sad loss of Adrain in Rocky
IV. After the famous inspirational speech he gives to his son. Robert Balboa soon agrees to his
father entering the ring for his final fight against Mason The Line Dixon(Antonio Tarver), the
heavyweight champion at that point of time. Robert Balboa and Paulie(Burt Young) also Adrain s
brother begin to train Rocky for his last fight, while filming once again the famous scene of Rocky
running up the stairs of the Philaphia museum. The end of Rocky Balboa is a classic Rocky
ending, of getting the shit kicked out of him but still doesn t give up. ... Show more content on

The Evolution Of Pointe Shoes
Pointe shoes are the symbol of the ballerina and they have had a huge impact on the history of
dance. They are way more complex than what we tend to think and throughout this essay we will go
over their creation, how they re structured, and how they impacted ballet.
In the early 1700s, the technique of ballet developed rapidly and incorporated a new emphasis on
graceful foot technique. In 1726, Marie Camargo debuted at the Paris OpГ©ra Ballet in a
performance of Les CaractГЁres de la Danse, dancing in slippers instead of heeled shoes. She had
also shortened her stage skirt to show off the turnout of her legs and feet as well as her bas de
jambe during entrechats. After the French Revolution in 1789, emphasis was placed on the
functional aspect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This resulted in a demand for more elaborate pointe shoes. A wide range of designs were on the
market: from soft block shoes, which are designed for transition from soft shoes to pointe shoes, to
extremely hard shoes, which give extra strength, to machine manufactured rehearsal pointes for
dance students operating on a smaller budget. About thirty five ballet shoe manufacturers, such as
Freed, Grishko, Bloch, Capezio, and Gaynor Minden operate in the market. At the end of the
twentieth century, the fashion industry picked up the idea of ribbons and look alike pointe shoes,
and designer brands such as Manolo Blahnik, Sonia Rykiel, Etro, and Blumarine have used the
pointe shoe style to create ballerina fashion shoes.
At the beginning of the nineteenth century, an increasingly challenging ballet technique, en demi
pointe, allowed dancers to carry out multiple pirouettes and jumps. While men were identified as
playing a secondary role in the performance, from this point onward ballerinas rose to the toes
and contributed to a new dance aesthetic. This overt emphasis on the lightness of dancers was
reflected by Marie Taglioni, who appeared sur les pointes in the first performance of La Sylphide
in 1832. Some early examples of pointe shoes from this period are exhibited in the Haydn Museum

Abstract
This is an analysis of the culture at IBM and the impact that it has had on their success. Corporate
culture is significant in that it influences the behavior of everyone within an organization and, if
carefully crafted, can have a significant positive effect on organizational success (Certo and Certo,
2006, p. 423). Louis Gerstner proved this at IBM during his tenure from 1993 to 2002 when he
revived IBM by refocusing on their culture.

Watson, Jr. Thomas J. Watson, Jr. maintained the legacy and culture established by his father and
helped to establish IBM as the world s premier computer company with the introduction of the
System 360 in the early 1960s. Watson focused nearly all of IBM s people, resources, and capital
toward the development and deployment of the System 360. That gamble paid off enabling IBM
to garner over 90% of the exploding market for large computer systems. IBM s near monopoly in
the large computer marketplace provided tremendous growth and profitability for nearly 25 years.
However, the personal computer revolution of the 1980 s (started by IBM, ironically) brought the
glory days of IBM to an abrupt and near tragic end.

Impact
The impact of IBM s culture during its first 75 years was profound. To be an employee of IBM
meant being a part of IBM. If one were to ask an IBM employee whether an engineer, an
executive, or a janitor, What do you do? the answer would almost always be the same, I m an

company and provide them with whatever training they needed to again become productive. Even
during the great depression of the 1930s, IBM maintained and even grew its employee base,

Grief In The Story Of Tom Brennan By J. C Burk
The novel The Story Of Tom Brennan by J.C Burk is about the aftermath of drink driving and the
effects it has on the families. This review aims to highlight why I believe the themes of loss, grief,
and conflict are so significant to my generation when discussing the issue surrounding drink
driving. I found this book not relatable, to me Tom wasn t realistic. Personally, I don t find Toms
characterto be unrealistic, he was too dramatic and his reactions to situations were unreasonable.
The novelhas redeeming aspects when it come to Joe, Kylie, Brendan and Gran were more
realistic to me, these characters drew me in more. The Loss is presented throughout the novel.
The Story of Tom Brennan shows the families dealing with some form of loss after the drink
driving incident. Luke and Nicole s families both lose their children from the accident. Luke and

Pirandellan Flux and Fascism In 1935 the year before he died the great Italian playwright Luigi
Pirandello donated all of the gold in his possession to the fascist government in support of the
Ethiopian campaign. Included in this collection was his 1934 Noble Prize medal (cite). He had
been a member of the fascist party since 1924. He had joined shortly after the murder by fascist
agents of a socialist deputy named Giacomo Matteotti (Argenteri, 129). Many intellectuals had left
the party thereafter, disgusted with the violent tactics of the budding fascist regime. Attempts have

intellectual ownership give creed to this theory? Certainly his flirtation with and later marriage

be more of an ideological than political affair. His early identification of Mussolini with his
central philosophy of life and form justified his dedication to the strong leader, though he d later

distrust in democracy in relation to the dictator. Democracy, after all, had failed to prevent the
Great War which had so affected the Italian consciousness. Perhaps the Italians would do better

The Protest Of The 1980 Moscow Olympics

Block: 3
I. Introduction
Our nation does not know us as Olympians. Our sublime moments of exertion and triumph do not
exist. We have no memories and you have no memories of us (DeFranz, qtd. in Caraccioli 17). In
1980, the United States led a 61 nation boycott of the Moscow Summer Olympics. President Jimmy
Carter called for the boycott to protest the Soviet Union Invasion of Afghanistan. Many people have
debated whether the United States should have boycotted the games, which impacted President
Jimmy Carter s diplomatic relations and had serious consequences for athletes around the world.
The boycott of the 1980 Moscow Olympics was problematic for both cultural and political reasons.
The United States should not have participated in or led the boycott of the 1980 Moscow Olympics
because the US government was blending the spheres of athletics and politics, government officials
were solely concerned with the international reputation of the US and its relations with other
nations, and the athletes preparing to participate in the games to represent the US were treated
unfairly.
II. Background
After World War II ended, a new war began: the Cold War. The Cold war was different because
there was no fighting with weapons. The principal antagonists in this war were the United States
and Soviet Union. There was a great fear of nuclear weapons and a hot war, so instead they fought
by using words. After decades of somewhat restrained

Brotherhood In The Canterbury Tales
Throughout time, we have seen over and over men losing their minds because of women. In
Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales, we see it again. Palamon and Arcite break their
knightly oath of brotherhood over a woman by the name of Emily. As knights, they are supposed to
follow the rules of chivalry. But in their case they fight over a woman, why is that is that
acceptable? The reason the knight night told this story was to prove that knights also get swept
away by women, and it is also part of being a knight. Another point to make is Palamon and Arcite
are the basically the same person in character. Why did Chaucer and/or the Knight make them a
little different? However, this is done to make it hard for the reader to choose a side.... Show more

Men will act very stupid when they are around a beautiful woman. When a man falls in love with
a woman most time they will do anything for them, even face death. An example of this is
Romeo and Juliet. They both kill them self over the pain of losing one another. Another example
is in Paradise Lost, Adam faces the fall and death of the world for Eve. Neither of them can live
without their loved one. In Palamon and Arcite situation, they have both fallen in love with
Emily. They must decide if risking their friendship and brotherhood for the chance to marry
Emily. In line 307 Arcite tells Palamon that Love is a gretter lawe. This shows that love does
conquer all. People would anything for love. Many wars have been started over women and The
Knight s tale is no different. Palamon and Arcite went to battle with one another to win a
woman. When Emily did not want to marry either of the two knights. She even prayed to the
goddess of Diana to grant her virginity. Another example of a battle started was with Helen of
Troy. She caused a huge mess with the city of Troy. People killed for the sake of love, and still to
this day kill for love. Palamon lives to marry Emily but has to face that he lost his cousin because
of this. Love is the one true happiness everyone searches for and at the same time the most deadly.

Cultural Religions In Ancient China
In ancient china there were two main cultural religions. These were Taoism and Buddhism.
Taoism is China s oldest religion. At one time, the land called China was the home of numerous
peoples with different racial origins. All these ethnic groups probably had their own special gods
and religious beliefs. Over time, kingdoms and empires grew in various areas and started
incorporating more and more people into them. One common theme in these kingdoms and
empires was a belief in life after death as can be seen in ancient tombs all over China. So people had
to pay homage to and care for the dead. Some Chinese have fear of the dead, and they try to obey

Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder Essay
The Eye of the Beholder
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What is beautiful to me may not be beautiful to you. An
idiom that is known by almost every nation and culture. However, what happens when society on
a collective whole, perceive a certain characteristic, or body type as beautiful and desirable. When
you are told day by day what is considered appealing, or that a size zero is the ideal body size for a
woman. When women are told you would be prettier if...What is left to be said and done when
women don t meet the criteria of the Goddess like perfection that society decided to shackle
them with. It is a cancerous disease eating away at our sense of self growth and actualization. It is a
sickness that needs a cure, and we as a society must seek to eradicate it, so that we can grow as a
people.
Before Kim Kardashian or BeyoncГ© took over the airwaves, women have been objectified by
society, and their male counterparts, not for what s inside of their heads, but what their heads are
attached to. When a young girl looks in the mirror, they are no longer seeing themselves, but the
woman or girl they wished to be or imitate. They are seeing the cover girl model with the long
hair, smooth skin, and the small waist. As Mrs. Steinem wrote, The power lies not within us but in
the gaze of the observers. (340). No matter how well put together or intelligent a woman is, how
many degrees she has under her name, all that society sees is that she could be a little more pleasing

Dual language is a form of education in which students are taught to read and write in two
languages. The majority of dual language programs in the United States teach in English and
Spanish, although there are emerging programs that teach in Mandarin, Japanese and Hindi. The
programs start of mostly in kindergarten sand 1st grade and continue throughout primary education,
in addition some dual languageprograms depending on the grade continue through middle and

Lindholm Leary, 2007). Dual language programs were started around forty years ago. The first
school district to start using it was Dade County Public Schools in Miami, Florida in 1962 in the
following years programs spread into Washington D.C., Chicago, Illinois, and San Diego,
California. There are an abundance of dual language programs nation wide where Spanish is the
most popular language taught with, 94% of instruction throughout the country ( Dual
Language,2014). There have even been bills that have supporting Bilingual Education in the
United States Civil Rights Act of 1964, The Bilingual Education Act of 1968, Lau v. Nichols of
1974, Phyler v. Doe of 1982 and Executive Order 13166 of 2000 lastly No Child Left Behind Act of
2001.
One of the biggest benefits in creating more dual language programs would be that the English
language learners will be able to advance more in their academics. The transition from traditional
bilingual education toward English language immersion is an easier switch which ultimately helps
ELLs catch up with their English speaking peers. This not only benefits the students who are ELL
but their peers who at the same time are learning Spanish. English language learners become more

The Cultural World of Jewish Women Explained in Daughters...
The writings of Alicia Ramos GonzГЎlez in her work Daughters of Tradition discuss, in great
detail, the cultural world of Jewish women in Eastern Europe during the 16th 19th century. I believe
that culture takes root in ones identity not only as an individual, but also in ones identity with their
people and nation. Based on this belief, I have chosen to focus my explorations on the patterns
found in the bases of Jewish identity among the women in Yiddish culture during this time. Despite
the negative impacts towards gender equality which arose though preventing women from
obtaining skills such as learning Hebrew scripture, the Yiddish heritage has benefitted greatly in
part of this gender gap and has become a cornerstone in the bases of the identity found throughout
all Jewish Women.
The first time I read GonzГЎlez s work I saw the lack of integration amongst men and women as a
setback; women were not given the same opportunities as men were given during this time. While
this widens the gap in gender equality in respect to opportunities and personal choices, women
were not seen as the inferior sex. After reading a second time I realized that while women s
obligations and responsibilities are different from men s, they are no less important. The equality
amongst men and women in Judaism begins at the highest possible level due to the fact that God
is seen as neither a man nor a woman. He is only referred to as male out of convenience since there
are no gender neutral terms

Subdural hematoma evacuation is a procedure used to treat a collection of blood (blood clot)
between your brain and its tough outer covering (dura). The blood clot is caused by bleeding
(hemorrhage) from a torn vein.
Subdural hematoma evacuation is sometimes done for bleeding that develops slowly, over weeks or
months (chronic subdural hematoma). The procedure may be needed if the bleeding becomes
dangerous or presses on the brain. It is also sometimes done as an emergency procedure after a
head injury (acute subdural hematoma). During the procedure, the skull is opened, and the blood
clot is gently flushed away using a balanced salt (saline) solution.

He tells humans that, each tree is known by its own fruit , implying that you are loved by Jesus
through your actions rather than your possessions. Any man can do good to someone who does
good to him, but only a good heart can produce good treasure. The theme of love continues to
connect with the themes of poverty and wealth throughout the Gospel of Luke. Rather than being
contempt with a life full of greed, Jesus wants you to share your wealth because, you cannot serve
both God and Money. In order to enter the Kingdom, you must do things for others rather than
yourself. If you do what is righteous you will be blessed and repaid in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Jesus pronounces in chapter 12 of Luke that, a man s life does not consist in the abundance of
his possessions. No matter how much wealth you have, you are no different than a man who has
nothing if you are not kind hearted. Chapter 12 of Luke ties back to the golden rule stated in

enforcement agencies with better resources to fight and stand up against terrorism. The way to
successfully providing security against domestic and international terrorists is to understand the
mentality of a terrorist. Critical assessments, more efficient alert systems, and physical security
standards must improve in order to solidify our current security posture if the United States wants
to deter future terrorist attacks against its culture and economy. So let us all start at the very
beginning. What is the major threat behind cyber terrorism and cyber vandalism? Once you take a

passed one very important law that has made a big impact on the on the U.S. Lastly harding has
a lot of cool and interesting facts. To begin as you may know from reading the first paragraph
that president Harding is Big Government. Harding is Big Government because he tried the pass
a law that could have made a big help with our country today. Harding sought to provide
hospitalization, vocational training, and monetary compensation for wounded and
convalescent soldiers, sailors, and marines. Along with the law that he tried to pass his term
started near the end of world war 1. Soon before Harding died he made the steel industry work
day s longer but they did not agree and after his death they shortened the work day s back to the
way it was. Secondly he has passed one law the law he passed is very important in our country. It
is that woman could vote but in some country s it is still illegal to this day for woman to vote not

Analysis Of Unforgiven
Unforgiven is a 1992 Western film which was produced, directed, and starred by Clint
Eastwood. The adventure of William Munny, a vicious murderer in the past who has killed
innocent women and children, started when The Schofield Kid approached Munny in his farm
and asked him if he wanted to help in killing two of the cowboys who slashed one of the
prostitutes just because the woman giggled at one of the cowboy s tiny pecker. However, Little
Bill Daggett, the sheriff, just fined the two cowboys with six horses to be given to the saloon
keeper instead of arresting and beating them up; this nonchalant response of the sheriff outraged
the other prostitutes. The girls pooled all of their savings, which amounted to $1,000, and used
that money as a reward to anybody who would kill the two cowboys who slashed up their friend.
The film was unique because of the way Clint Eastwoodpresented violence and killing in an
interesting way and in a new light wherein the line between good and evil was a little blurred.
The thought provoking title of the film also added a unique touch to this film. The form of
violence in the film was presented in different ways some are subtle, but some are more obvious.
The way that the prostitutes offered bounty for the death of the two cowboys serves as a silent
form of violence and protest, which represents the hatred that they feel because they are belittled
and mistreated by the people just because they are prostitutes: Just because we let them

Corporal Punishment And Its Effect On Children
Each of the reviews has a different viewpoint on corporal punishment; some of the reviews take a
look at who is most affected by corporal punishment in terms of focusing their lens on race, socio
economic status, gender, culture etc. Some also take a critical look at the advantages and
disadvantages of corporal punishment. Some take a look at the widespread of corporal punishment in
the US. Cases against corporal punishment and the effect of corporal punishment on children were
also looked into. With all the different ways corporal punishment has been looked into by different
research work, there is one common theme every one of them talks about and that is the detrimental
effect of corporal punishment on children. Alternative to corporal punishment is what every one of
them recommended.
My perspective on this is that discipline has no gender or color. Childhood development stages are
phases every child passes through at one time or another, almost with the same level of innocent
stupidity. Correcting innocent stupidity should not bring any harm to any child. There are other
workable and result oriented alternatives to corporal punishment. With my position as a Mom, I
have come to figure out that starting early enough to apply alternative to corporal punishment
yields very positive result. The use of corporal punishment in homes and schools has been widely
debated. Corporal punishment is harmful to children. It could lead to emotional, psychological and
physical problems.

Mammals Should Be Kept In Captivity
Can you imagine living in a cage for the rest of your life? Mammals are born to swim freely, they

over 30 years. Mammals are born to swim freely, they are not meant to entertain an audience.

Macbeth Quotes From Banquo
Character: Banquo
Partner: Macbeth
Quotation #1: All s well./ I dreamt last night of the three WeГЇrd Sisters./ To you they have showed
some truth (Mac. 2.1.24 26).
Translation: All is fine. Tonight I dreamed of the WeГ
Їrd Sisters. They have showed some truth in
what they foretold about you.
Fighting for: Banquo is fighting to calm Macbeth. Banquo does not know why Macbeth is awake,
but as his friend he wants to ensure that Macbeth is fine, able to relax and return to sleep. Banquo
is also explaining why he is awake. Banquo strives to convey his worries over the WeГЇrd Sisters
and their encounter with them.
Circumstances: Banquo is awake because his thoughts are troubled over his encounter with the
WeГЇrd Sisters. The WeГЇrd Sisters foretell that Banquo s children will become kings. In order for
this to occur, one of Banquo s sons would have to commit a regicide. This thought is so terrifying
that it is preventing Banquo from sleeping. Meanwhile, Macbeth is about to commit a regicide and
pauses on his journey to converse with Banquo.
Poetic Device:
The second line scans in iambic pentameter, whereas the third line does not scan. There is
assonance on the long e sound of three, and WeГЇrd. There is alliteration on the w of well, and
WeГЇrd. There is consonance on the d sound of dreamt, WeГЇrd, and showed, on the r sound of
three, WeГЇrd, Sisters, and truth, and on the t sound of dreamt, last, night, Sisters, to, and truth.
Conclusion: Night is used to explain when Banquo thinkings about the WeГЇrd Sisters. The words
imply that they are in the back of his mind constantly and present enough for him to dream about
them. The night is when Banquo subconsciously ponders their mysteries. Night also signifies that
this though happened recently and the time was important.

In this study, we aim to study the association between environmental exposures to lead in children,
living in the vicinity of the lead and zinc smelters in TorreГіn, Mexico, and heart rate variability.
Methods
Study participants
The data used in this analysis was collected as part of the Cuida tu Corazon ( Take care of your
heart ; C2C) study, which was carried out primarily to evaluate the association between heavy
metals and measures of cardiovascular and renal function in older children who are living in
Torreon, Mexico, in the vicinity of the Met Mex PeГ±oles lead and zinc smelters. We used a
census developed by the Health Department of the State of Coahuila to identify children aged 12
15 who had with at least one measurement of blood lead level prior to the who aged 12 to 15 years
at the time of the study (2009 2010), which was 6,254. We stratified this group bby quintiles of
earlier blood lead levels and randomly selected children individuals from each 5 blood lead levels
strata to achieve a representative sample of lead exposures with a final study size of target sample
of 512 participants.
Sample size and power calculation
The sample size was calculated so that study hadwill have a greater than 90% power to detect an
increase in outcome (log heart rate variability measures) of 15% of their standard deviation or
greater for each doubling of blood lead exposure levels. This was based on blood lead levels in the
2001 survey of

A Qualitative Analysis of the Types of Goals Athletes Set...
Summary of an Article: A Qualitative Analysis of the Types of Goals Athletes Set in Training and
Competition
Validity and Reliability In order for research to be reliable, other researchers must be able to
perform the same experiment and achieve the same results (Shuttleworth, 2008). The reliability of
this study is unknown at this point. In the past, researchers have used quantitative methods to try to
find out the feelings that athletes have had about goal setting. This survey method has increased
reliability because it has limited the answer options for the survey respondents. However, the
researchers were concerned that the results be generalizable, so they adopted an open ended survey.
Athletes completed an open ended questionnaire about the specific types of goals they set. The
questionnaire was structured around issues of interest in the present research (e.g., goal setting in
training versus competition) and previous findings (e.g., athletes set goals for skill improvement,
confidence enhancement, and for outcomes such as winning) (Munroe Chandler et al., 2004).
Because it was a qualitative study and the investigators coded responses, examining internal
reliability is critical to determine whether or not the study exhibited reliability. The researchers used
a constant comparative method to divide transcripts into text units and compare and regroup them.
Two researchers independently ranked the responses, and they had 97% agreement on their coding,
which

A Story Of A Story
I am who I am. I talk to each and every one of you everyday. I promise you that you know me
well. I will tell you a story that takes place in a particular town, where as strange as it was, no
one left, and no one entered it. It existed just as you and I did, breathing, living, and suffering. A
scream escaped Rue s lips, when she awoke from her dream, as her hollow gray eyes darted back
and forth, confirming her surroundings. Her arms ached from a memory of excessive pain
from being beaten by her father in the dark basement of her large home. She was beaten for
being smart, silly, or kind with her friends she had made, years ago. She wanted to be an author,
but her father thought otherwise, and gave much disapprobation towards her. He wanted her to
become business woman. In fact, it was all she could remember from her childhood, and now as
a 17 year old girl, she lives with her mom who has the starting stages of alzheimer s disease. Rue
slipped out the habiliments of her bed, and made her way through the labyrinth of her home, to
the bathroom. The wall were draped with red velvet arabesque tapestries, and the floors were
always furnished. She went out to school that cold morning, tucking her dyed blue hair behind
her ears. In class, she was bullied by Korra and Alex, for being timid and quiet. In math class,
Korra stole her notes, and threw them out the window. She even accidently spilled drinks on
Rue s clothes. During all this, Rue never said a word, she stayed as always hunched over,
seemingly lifeless, until Alex started flirting with Eden. Whenever Eden was around, her dull
face would light up, and cheeks began to glow. He d always read stories to her, whenever they
would hang out, which made her feel like someone else, that she could be someone else.
However all she could do was suppress the tears that began to leak out her eyes, when she sees
Eden kiss Alex s cheek. Rue didn t have the power or strength to fight for what she truly wanted
in life. She truly believed that she was meant to suffer. Once school ended, Rue began her journey
back home, taking small steps with her petite feet. A familiar voice filled with great piquancy
called for her saying, Hey! Rue, wait, I have a book I really

Reflection Of Visit To The Mapleshire Nursing And...
During the visit to the Mapleshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, I was able to tour the
facility and also meet and speak with employees and patients. When I arrived at the center, my
first interaction was with the assistant director of activities whose name was Madison. Madison
has been officially employed at this facility for two years but has been involved for many years
since her mother is the admissions director at the center. She was able to answer the majority of
the questions other students and I had about the daily functioning of the facility. After interviewing
Madison, I took a tour of the facility and spoke with two patients. The purpose of this paper is to
reflect and share my insight from interviewing the employee and two patients, and the observations
I noted after the completion of a three unit tour. Additionally, it is necessary to relate my experience
to the content learned in class and compare the similarities between the classroom work and the
reality of the older population.
Daily Life of the Patients
To begin, Madison described the daily activities of the patients in the facility. She stated that
patients typically rise around 6:00 a.m. and a certified nursing assistant helps the patients bathe,
brush their hair and teeth, and get ready for the day. From there, some patients go to therapy while
others go to breakfast around 8:45 a.m. The patients then participate in morning activities such as

We have mentioned the increased importance of B2B branding and the differences compared to
B2C. B2B branding has been shown to factor in emotions as well as rationality and relationships at
a greater extent than B2C (Leek Christodoulides 2011). How should Canon act to successfully
brand itself in this arena? According to Fournier Avery (2011) branding is shifting from
differentiation to resonance. Companies can achieve greater success by embedding themselves
naturally in web conversations with integrated brand messages . Then the question becomes, how
can one apply this to B2B branding? While it is important to emphasize the unique value
proposition of Canon s products on mediums such as the company s website, the emotional aspect
could also be emphasized here to a greater

What is your favorite place to go and get anything you need? Is it Walmart, Target, or Publix? If
so, you ve probably never referred to either of those as a general store. In all actuality, Walmart,
Target, and Publix are all predecessors of the 19th and early 20th century general store. With large

The general store offered a huge variety of merchandise that people normally couldn t get.
Whether it was something they couldn t make, or something that didn t come from around the
town (Hays, The General Store , 2012), it was always interesting to people to see just what the
general store had. They would get things like medicines, candies, smoking tobacco, and even
toiletries like soaps. After a busy week of working on the farm, the mom would pack lunch, and
the dad and kids would get ready to head to the general store. They didn t only go to get what
they needed for the week, but they also went because it was a special occasion! The kids would
walk in and see toys and candies and all sorts of things that, if they were lucky, they might walk
out with. Candy was a delicacy, and though it didn t really cost a lot, it wasn t a necessity, thus
normally overlooked by the parents. As the mom and the dad would walk around, of course they
would see some things that they wanted. Like how the father might want some new tools or the

So as the New Poor Law states people were extremely cruel and discriminated the undeserving
poor they said it was god who decided if you were poor or not even though the church did try to
help. For example the hymn all things bright and beautiful, includes the lines The rich man at his
castle, the poor man at his gate, God made them high or lowly, and ordered their estate . However
most people felt pity on the deserving poor an example of this was rich women that used to make
themselves look generous, in front of their rich women friends, these were the types of people that
Andrew Reid was particularly interested in and that was because they were the people that donated
the most money.
Andrew Reid put together many Asylum meetings where he would do speeches to rich people
and make them feel for the poor. An example of his speeches was one he done on the 3rd of July,
1927 at the London Tavern Let it be remembered that the case is for the infant orphan for which
charity has a yet done nothing; yet this case embraces a period of life in which innocence,
helplessness and misery are strangely commingled and most touchingly call for our aid . This
speech was truly inspirational to many people and was used just before the people choose who
they wanted to vote for using the voting system (explained in paragraph 6). Also he was respected

Introduction
Smoking tobacco cigarettes has been recognized as the leading cause of lung cancer and other
health related illnesses in the developed world. But there is a new emergence of electronic
cigarettes, which can deliver nicotine without the vast range of carcinogens and toxins found in a
regular tobacco cigarette. Of course, this is a very controversial topic in which creates a dilemma,
some people approve the use of electronic cigarettes as an alternative to tobacco cigarettes. In the
other hand there is people with negative views on the use of an e cigarette as an alternative to a
regular tobacco cigarette. My research will target a specific population, college students and their
point of view on the use of electronic cigarettes. I am interested to find what are college students at
CSUSB perceptions of the health impacts of electronic cigarettes? Are college students more
susceptible to use electronic cigarettes as an alternative to tobacco cigarettes?
Goals
In my research, I want to find out if perception plays a role in decision making. In this case I want
to know if college student perceptions of electronic cigarettes at CSUSB impacts their decision
making. For example, a student who believes e cigarettes are less harmful than tobacco cigarettes
is more likely to use electronic cigarettes. In the other hand, a student who believes e cigarettes are
more harmful

  • 3. The Argument And Critical Inquiry Essay 1.When was the last time you got into an argument? What is an argument? Is it the same as a shouting match, a brawl? What does an argument have to do with critical thinking? What is the relationship between arguments and critical inquiry? The last time that I was involved in an argument, was on the drive to Cypress Hills. The argument was based on whether the Cypress Hills are Mountains or Hills. An argument is a set of claims, that is supported by premises. Although an argument may lead to a shouting match or a brawl, they are speaking of the word argument in a different context. There is more than one definition to the word argument. In our case we are interested in arguments as a set of claims, not a yelling match between two people. Arguments are related to critical thinking, since you must evaluate the issue and form a reasoned judgement. 2.Do you think teachers should teach students how to argue well? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, I think knowing how to form and structure sound, valid arguments is important. Students should also learn common flaws and fallacies to arguments. Teaching students how to argue well, allows them to create arguments based on evidence. Knowing these skills allows students to evaluate issues and form reasoned judgements, which is beneficial in every day life. These skills can be taught many ways in school, for example through the implementation of debates or the art of essay writing and can be used cross circular in many ... • 4. Total Quality Management Theory Introduction Most organizational management theories descend either from Frederick Taylor s scientific management theory or from Elton Mayo s human relations model. Total Quality Management (TQM) theory grew out of existing organizational management theories, in part, as a response to the problems in those theories. Edwards Deming and Joseph Juran are most responsible for the development of TQM. Deming and Juran began work on TQM in the 1930s and continued shaping the management model into the 1990s. During the 1930s, Deming and Juran studied with Walter Shewhart who developed Statistical Quality Control (SQC) theory. SQC argued that as quality improves, costs go down and productivity increases. SQC provided for continuous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And the goal of the TQM model is to provide a systematic way to meet customers expectations. This orientation calls for changing the organization s focus, considering how this change impacts on traditional performance measures, and identifying the customers and determining their relative importance. IS Admissions a production organization is responsible for processing applications for admission to the COT. If IS Admissions implemented the core concepts of TQM theory identified in this essay, the office would be managed as follows: 1. Promoting stakeholder satisfaction will be championed by the program manager. Juran defines stakeholders and customers those who will be impacted or affected by the products and processes required to attain the quality goals. IS Admissions should consider current and potential customers and stake holders both internal and external. External customers or stakeholders are those directed served by IS Admissions. • 5. Brass Band Civil War Brass Bands were a popular ensemble centered around the Civil War era. Crawford and Hamberlin (2013) credit these ensembles to being an exhibition of Nationalism and patriotism for their respective sides of the Union or Confederacy. Brass bands were initially used by the military to boost the morale of soldiers. After many of these musicians served their time in the army, they still performed simply for the love of music. Brass bands generally consisted of brass instruments such as the bugle, cornet, sackbut, saxhorn, snare and bass drum. A unique instrument of the ensemble is the saxhorn (APPENDIX A), an instrument family consisting of the flugelhorn, baritone, and alto horn. Today, the instrument is still used but mostly as euphonium/baritone, flugelhorn, or mellophone. Lewis (2015), discusses a twelve key bugle unique to the Civil War era, to be a very common solo instrument. This keyed bugle was an improvement to the original open key bugle of the American Revolutionary War (APPENDIX B). Two songs unique to both Civil War and Post Civil War era brass bands are Battle Hymn of the Republic and Dixie. The Battle Hymn of the Republic was a poem by Julia Howe with a refrain that was later added with the chorus Glory,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Originally composed as a minstrel tune, it would become the anthem of the Confederacy. Dixie Is a binary form composition, with a simple musical theme introduced, followed by a chorus. The original idea is restated with the same lyrics, or an instrumental solo, proceeded again with the main chorus of the song. (APPENDIX C). Unlike the Battle Hymn, Dixie does not have a military feel. Instead, it resembles folk music. Currently, brass bands serve as a great influence for military style marching bands in America. Runnels (2016) shares an example where these original brass band compositions are still performed as a source of patriotism and national ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Essay on The Pros and Cons of Ethnographic Reflexivity The Advantages and Limits of Ethnographic Reflexivity Awareness of writing choices generates an appreciation of the reflexivity of ethnographic research. Reflexivity involves the recognition that an account of reality does not simply mirror reality but rather creates or constitutes as real in the first place whatever it describes. Thus the notion of reflexivity recognizes that texts do not simply and transparently report an independent order of reality. Rather, the texts themselves are implicated in the work of reality construction (Emerson et. al., 1995:213). According to Robert M. Emerson and colleagues, reflexivity is a method in which the ethnographer is aware that his/her writing choices are shaped to acknowledge the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In her ethnography she writes how she had to reconstruct her self in order to fit in to Japanese society. She looked Japanese but she did not act the way a native Japanese would act. Her informants than taught her how to act like a native and in this process she began to understand aspects of the Japanese culture. She mentions: These factors perhaps gave me a certain kind of participatory understanding of certain aspects of Japanese society. It also meant that, once I became an active participant in various groups (family, factory, etc.) my knowledge was circumscribed. For example, therefore did not have free access to certain people, and I could not ask certain questions that a foreigner less aware of indelicacy could have posed with impunity (84). In forming a self in Japanese society she notes that one is more accessible to gaining further understanding about the culture being studied. Thus, she critiques the traditional ethnographic methods because she finds that older text make objective assumptions that are not necessary the reality of a culture. The assumptions than are seen as the true reality and full understanding of a culture. On the contrary, reflexivity implies that ethnographic knowledge is intrinsically incomplete and relative (84). Some struggles are easier to overcome than others, especially if the struggle is concentrated in one particular area. Yet, those who struggle with reading disabilities in general, including dyslexia may not have the easiest time overcoming it. Not being able to read may lead to other issues with spelling, grammar, and general comprehension of material. This literature review will be covering many previous done studies that focus on reading disabilities and dyslexia. Through examining this literature it should give some answer to my overall thesis, which is how is dyslexia connected to reading disabilities and what can be done to help those who are struggling. Reading Disabilities One of the first questions that should be answered is what is the definition of a reading disability. One of the books shares the following; A reading disability exists where there is a significant discrepancy between reading ability and intellectual potential (Roswell and Natchez 1964: 2). Additionally, Plesiosaurs В‘used their hyperphalangic paddles for subaqueous flight in the manner of modern sea lions (Chatterjee Small, 1989). Sea lions and whales, Plesiosaur analogues, can endure environments which would kill a human. Humans are at risk of illness or death when returning from a great depth to the ocean s surface. They are way more complex than what we tend to think and throughout this essay we will go over their creation, how they re structured, and how they impacted ballet. In the early 1700s, the technique of ballet developed rapidly and incorporated a new emphasis on graceful foot technique. In 1726, Marie Camargo debuted at the Paris OpГ©ra Ballet in a performance of Les CaractГЁres de la Danse, dancing in slippers instead of heeled shoes. About thirty five ballet shoe manufacturers, such as Freed, Grishko, Bloch, Capezio, and Gaynor Minden operate in the market. At the end of the twentieth century, the fashion industry picked up the idea of ribbons and look alike pointe shoes, and designer brands such as Manolo Blahnik, Sonia Rykiel, Etro, and Blumarine have used the pointe shoe style to create ballerina fashion shoes. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, an increasingly challenging ballet technique, en demi pointe, allowed dancers to carry out multiple pirouettes and jumps. While men were identified as playing a secondary role in the performance, from this point onward ballerinas rose to the toes and contributed to a new dance aesthetic. Our sublime moments of exertion and triumph do not exist. We have no memories and you have no memories of us (DeFranz, qtd. in Caraccioli 17). In 1980, the United States led a 61 nation boycott of the Moscow Summer Olympics. President Jimmy Carter called for the boycott to protest the Soviet Union Invasion of Afghanistan. Many people have debated whether the United States should have boycotted the games, which impacted President Jimmy Carter s diplomatic relations and had serious consequences for athletes around the world. The boycott of the 1980 Moscow Olympics was problematic for both cultural and political reasons. The United States should not have participated in or led the boycott of the 1980 Moscow Olympics because the US government was blending the spheres of athletics and politics, government officials were solely concerned with the international reputation of the US and its relations with other nations, and the athletes preparing to participate in the games to represent the US were treated unfairly. An idiom that is known by almost every nation and culture. However, what happens when society on a collective whole, perceive a certain characteristic, or body type as beautiful and desirable. When you are told day by day what is considered appealing, or that a size zero is the ideal body size for a woman. When women are told you would be prettier if...What is left to be said and done when women don t meet the criteria of the Goddess like perfection that society decided to shackle them with. It is a cancerous disease eating away at our sense of self growth and actualization. It is a sickness that needs a cure, and we as a society must seek to eradicate it, so that we can grow as a people. Before Kim Kardashian or BeyoncГ© took over the airwaves, women have been objectified by society, and their male counterparts, not for what s inside of their heads, but what their heads are attached to. When a young girl looks in the mirror, they are no longer seeing themselves, but the woman or girl they wished to be or imitate. They are seeing the cover girl model with the long hair, smooth skin, and the small waist. As Mrs. Steinem wrote, The power lies not within us but in the gaze of the observers. (340). • 35. The Cultural World of Jewish Women Explained in Daughters... The writings of Alicia Ramos GonzГЎlez in her work Daughters of Tradition discuss, in great detail, the cultural world of Jewish women in Eastern Europe during the 16th 19th century. I believe that culture takes root in ones identity not only as an individual, but also in ones identity with their people and nation. Based on this belief, I have chosen to focus my explorations on the patterns found in the bases of Jewish identity among the women in Yiddish culture during this time. Despite the negative impacts towards gender equality which arose though preventing women from obtaining skills such as learning Hebrew scripture, the Yiddish heritage has benefitted greatly in part of this gender gap and has become a cornerstone in the bases of the identity found throughout all Jewish Women. The first time I read GonzГЎlez s work I saw the lack of integration amongst men and women as a setback; women were not given the same opportunities as men were given during this time. While this widens the gap in gender equality in respect to opportunities and personal choices, women were not seen as the inferior sex. After reading a second time I realized that while women s obligations and responsibilities are different from men s, they are no less important. The equality amongst men and women in Judaism begins at the highest possible level due to the fact that God is seen as neither a man nor a woman. He is only referred to as male out of convenience since there are no gender neutral terms ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Analysis Of Unforgiven Unforgiven is a 1992 Western film which was produced, directed, and starred by Clint Eastwood. The adventure of William Munny, a vicious murderer in the past who has killed innocent women and children, started when The Schofield Kid approached Munny in his farm and asked him if he wanted to help in killing two of the cowboys who slashed one of the prostitutes just because the woman giggled at one of the cowboy s tiny pecker. However, Little Bill Daggett, the sheriff, just fined the two cowboys with six horses to be given to the saloon keeper instead of arresting and beating them up; this nonchalant response of the sheriff outraged the other prostitutes. The girls pooled all of their savings, which amounted to $1,000, and used that money as a reward to anybody who would kill the two cowboys who slashed up their friend. The film was unique because of the way Clint Eastwoodpresented violence and killing in an interesting way and in a new light wherein the line between good and evil was a little blurred. The thought provoking title of the film also added a unique touch to this film. The form of violence in the film was presented in different ways some are subtle, but some are more obvious. The way that the prostitutes offered bounty for the death of the two cowboys serves as a silent form of violence and protest, which represents the hatred that they feel because they are belittled and mistreated by the people just because they are prostitutes: Just because we let them ... Some take a look at the widespread of corporal punishment in the US. Cases against corporal punishment and the effect of corporal punishment on children were also looked into. With all the different ways corporal punishment has been looked into by different research work, there is one common theme every one of them talks about and that is the detrimental effect of corporal punishment on children. Alternative to corporal punishment is what every one of them recommended. My perspective on this is that discipline has no gender or color. Childhood development stages are phases every child passes through at one time or another, almost with the same level of innocent stupidity. Correcting innocent stupidity should not bring any harm to any child. There are other workable and result oriented alternatives to corporal punishment. With my position as a Mom, I have come to figure out that starting early enough to apply alternative to corporal punishment yields very positive result. Summary of an Article: A Qualitative Analysis of the Types of Goals Athletes Set in Training and Competition Validity and Reliability In order for research to be reliable, other researchers must be able to perform the same experiment and achieve the same results (Shuttleworth, 2008). The reliability of this study is unknown at this point. In the past, researchers have used quantitative methods to try to find out the feelings that athletes have had about goal setting. This survey method has increased reliability because it has limited the answer options for the survey respondents. However, the researchers were concerned that the results be generalizable, so they adopted an open ended survey. Athletes completed an open ended questionnaire about the specific types of goals they set. The questionnaire was structured around issues of interest in the present research (e.g., goal setting in training versus competition) and previous findings (e.g., athletes set goals for skill improvement, confidence enhancement, and for outcomes such as winning) (Munroe Chandler et al., 2004). Because it was a qualitative study and the investigators coded responses, examining internal reliability is critical to determine whether or not the study exhibited reliability. The researchers used a constant comparative method to divide transcripts into text units and compare and regroup them. Two researchers independently ranked the responses, and they had 97% agreement on their coding, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I will tell you a story that takes place in a particular town, where as strange as it was, no one left, and no one entered it. It existed just as you and I did, breathing, living, and suffering. A scream escaped Rue s lips, when she awoke from her dream, as her hollow gray eyes darted back and forth, confirming her surroundings. Her arms ached from a memory of excessive pain from being beaten by her father in the dark basement of her large home. She was beaten for being smart, silly, or kind with her friends she had made, years ago. She wanted to be an author, but her father thought otherwise, and gave much disapprobation towards her. Rue slipped out the habiliments of her bed, and made her way through the labyrinth of her home, to the bathroom. The wall were draped with red velvet arabesque tapestries, and the floors were always furnished. She went out to school that cold morning, tucking her dyed blue hair behind her ears. In class, she was bullied by Korra and Alex, for being timid and quiet. In math class, Korra stole her notes, and threw them out the window. She even accidently spilled drinks on Rue s clothes. During all this, Rue never said a word, she stayed as always hunched over, seemingly lifeless, until Alex started flirting with Eden. However all she could do was suppress the tears that began to leak out her eyes, when she sees Eden kiss Alex s cheek. • 54. Reflection Of Visit To The Mapleshire Nursing And... During the visit to the Mapleshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, I was able to tour the facility and also meet and speak with employees and patients. When I arrived at the center, my first interaction was with the assistant director of activities whose name was Madison. Madison has been officially employed at this facility for two years but has been involved for many years since her mother is the admissions director at the center. She was able to answer the majority of the questions other students and I had about the daily functioning of the facility. After interviewing Madison, I took a tour of the facility and spoke with two patients. The purpose of this paper is to reflect and share my insight from interviewing the employee and two patients, and the observations I noted after the completion of a three unit tour. Additionally, it is necessary to relate my experience to the content learned in class and compare the similarities between the classroom work and the reality of the older population. She stated that patients typically rise around 6:00 a.m. and a certified nursing assistant helps the patients bathe, brush their hair and teeth, and get ready for the day. From there, some patients go to therapy while others go to breakfast around 8:45 a.m. The patients then participate in morning activities such as reading the newspaper, watching the news, or ... The general store offered a huge variety of merchandise that people normally couldn t get. Whether it was something they couldn t make, or something that didn t come from around the town (Hays, The General Store , 2012), it was always interesting to people to see just what the general store had. They would get things like medicines, candies, smoking tobacco, and even toiletries like soaps. After a busy week of working on the farm, the mom would pack lunch, and the dad and kids would get ready to head to the general store. They didn t only go to get what they needed for the week, but they also went because it was a special occasion! The kids would walk in and see toys and candies and all sorts of things that, if they were lucky, they might walk out with. Candy was a delicacy, and though it didn t really cost a lot, it wasn t a necessity, thus normally overlooked by the parents. Andrew Reid put together many Asylum meetings where he would do speeches to rich people and make them feel for the poor. An example of his speeches was one he done on the 3rd of July, 1927 at the London Tavern Let it be remembered that the case is for the infant orphan for which charity has a yet done nothing; yet this case embraces a period of life in which innocence, helplessness and misery are strangely commingled and most touchingly call for our aid .
