This document provides an introduction to blogging and assigns the reader a mission to become familiar with blogging. It defines what a blog is, shares a list of education blogs to visit, and lists tasks for the reader to complete that involve interacting with blogs and reflecting on their purpose and benefits. The reader is asked to comment on blog posts, find additional blogs, review a great blog post, and share their thoughts on blogging in a report to submit via email.

1. Blogging 2.0

As we look at travelling the path of blogging it is timely that we look at the benefits of blogging
and most importantly the purpose of blogging. This brief handout offers you a range of blogs to
check out, as well as a few tasks to help you immerse yourself in the blogosphere.
What is a blog?
A blog (a portmanteau of the term "web log")[1] is a type of website or part of a website. Blogs are
usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other
material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. "Blog"
can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.
