Question 3 – What kind of media
institution might distribute your media
product and why?
Evaluation:
The type of media institution that would best describe my opening
sequence would be ‘Independent film’ meaning that the film is
produced mostly or completely outside of the major film studio system,
also resulting in having a low budget. Due to my genre being a horror,
mine falls under the category of an independent film because of most
horror films being independent.
My opening sequence attracts to many audiences; young teenagers
both females and males (due to my film features young teenage girls),
horror lovers and adults. With this in mind, this allows my film to
increase on their profit rate making it a successful independent film.
Insidious is a gripping story of a family in
search of help for their son, Dalton, who fell
into a coma after a mysterious incident in the
attic. Little do they know that there is much
more to this endless sleep than meets the eye
as they explore the paranormal, and
rediscover the past.
I would relate ‘Insidious’ to my own media film
due to it also being an independent film and
having a low budget to it. It also is similar due
to the connection to the spirits and the evil.
The camera angles are also similar to mine,
involving a lot of close ups, long shots and
establishing shots too show the full details that
occur within the events that happen.
