This document outlines the units of study for a materials testing course. The 5 units cover: 1) an introduction to materials testing, 2) mechanical testing methods like hardness and tensile tests, 3) non-destructive testing techniques, 4) material characterization methods using microscopy and spectroscopy, and 5) other testing methods such as thermal, thermomechanical, and chemical analyses. The course aims to teach students the principles, techniques, advantages, limitations and applications of various materials testing methods over 45 class periods.
