Black Friday 2015 was more profitable for retailers, especially online retailers, compared to 2014. Ecommerce sales in 2015 were over £1 billion, over 30% more than the previous year. While 2014 saw many shoppers elbowing and scrambling for deals in stores, 2015 saw more shopping done online, with over 77% of respondents saying they planned to shop online again that year. Retailers need to understand customers and how they plan to shop across different channels in order to maximize sales during peak periods. They also need to ensure their infrastructure can handle online traffic and that customers have a positive experience however they choose to shop.
