All these moments will be lost in time: the web, the future, and usSally Lait
As web professionals we’re used to hearing about the virtues of shipping fast and iterating regularly in order to meet changing needs, but how do we ensure that the projects that we’re planning now are still as relevant and robust when they launch in the future... and beyond? How do we prepare for the unknowns and constant shifts in technology; what can we do to progress the evolution of the web itself; and how do we, as individuals, ensure that our skills are as relevant as ever in this rapidly changing world?
In this talk we’ll look at past visions of the future, what we can learn from these lessons, and how to apply this in a practical sense to the work that we do.

Presenting at IE's Digital strategy innovation summit, Mark dispels many of the myths of digital disruption and shares insight on how to build a successful service strategy in the digital age. Do inclusiveness and innovativeness have a shared destiny or a common heritage?Dormain Drewitz
Presented at Women Transforming Technology 2019 - Emerging Leader Track
Abstract:
Learning organizations, curiosity, asking questions over making assumptions… These qualities describe how innovative teams operate. It turns out, they are also ingredients for a more inclusive culture. Whether or not you agree that more innovation is a by-product of a more inclusive culture, the benefits of these qualities ring true.
This talk will explore the intersection between habits, practices, and behaviors that promote inclusiveness and those that promote innovation. For busy technology leaders, that intersection provides somewhere to focus, a starting point. Iterating towards being a leader that promotes innovation and inclusion starts with small, concrete steps. Let’s illuminate what those steps could be.

Webinar: Digital transformation 'cure and necessity' - 11th November Precedent
Universities are being forced to change from all directions; regulatory interference, technological innovation, new cultural norms, increased customer expectations, pedagogic experimentation, academic globalisation and galloping academic cost inflation.
Digital transformation, the project to internalise the changes that digital has brought about, is part cure for these, and part a necessary change itself. Its tempo is increasing and more universities are starting the journey. It’s a difficult journey and this webinar will measure the steps that the bold have taken so far, presented by Rob Van Tol, Senior Strategy Consultant at Precedent.
Rob has worked with a range of higher education clients including the University of Aberdeen, Sheffield Hallam University, Edinburgh Business School and the University of Gloucestershire. Rob also co-wrote our latest higher education whitepaper, 'Bums on Seats - the digital battle for students.'
Getting $*it Done: Implementing Your Digital Strategy (MCN2015)Jane Alexander
Over the last few years, museums have developed strategic plans to leverage technology in support of goals such as community engagement, institutional alignment, scholarship, media production and artistic excellence. Multiple museums have created Digital Strategies (or other tools such as Road Maps or Guiding Principles) to guide these efforts. Museum technology departments have been reorganized and comprehensive back-end strategies and museum wide processes created to activate their world-class collections, connect art with people, and drive on-site and online attendance. HOWEVER, the big questions remain: How are museums implementing these strategies? What processes do they use to support and approve digital initiatives? How do they measure success? How do they keep strategies current and top-of-mind? How do they get support from management and donors? What works and more importantly what doesn’t?
This session will look at how The Cleveland Museum of Art, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, The National Gallery and Philadelphia Museum of Art are approaching digital strategy and implementation. Panelists will explore the scope and core elements of each museum’s digital strategy; staffing requirements and the interdepartmental steering team put in place to guide digital strategy; the backend systems put in place to support flexible access, both in theory and practice; and the effort required to pull everything together. As an added bonus, panelists will describe any missteps along the way and how hurdles were overcome effectively.Purpose and objectives - attendees will:Learn several different but overlapping approaches to digital strategy, with the pros and cons of each.Learn specific methods for thinking and acting strategically to deliver digital and technology initiatives.Learn practical approaches to developing a meaningful technology and digital media strategy.Learn communication skills and how to develop buy-in across the organization.Learn how to build strong and effective partnerships across an organization.Plus: plenty of opportunities for questions and answers.Format: Multi-presenter panel, with Q&A woven in throughout the session.Theme: Leadership
The gap in skills needed to compete in an increasingly digital world is a major issue for most organisations. Recognising this gap is one thing, doing something about it is a much bigger challenge.

Insights from 20 years of Digital TransformationRoberto Hortal
Talk delivered at Cloud Expo Europe on the 21st of March 2018. Looking back at 20 years of Digital Strategy and Transformation. What are the key lessons I've learned?
A knowledge session conducted at BHIVE and its connected workspace fraternity drawn from amongst startups to SMBs and large companies - the focus was to provide an understanding of what it means to embark on Digital Transformation for the Enterprise and then for each one of us as Individuals. Digital as a term is used very loosely and it's time to dispel some of the myths.
For the reader, know that this provides a high level perspective and is by no means intended to completely address the topic of Digital Transformation. There's also a section on what it means for individuals to continually evolve their brand, and this is also constantly changing as newer tools of relevance emerge.
This piece of work was presented mostly in a personal capacity, and the document has attributes and citations where needed.
The "Genesis: Idea Stage" ebook explains the phase where the journey starts for every startup: the idea stage. This eBook is the first part of the "Startup Master Class" series covering the idea, problem/solution fit, product/market fit and scaling stages.
