The NYC Department of Buildings issued an amendment that increased insurance requirements for new construction projects to $35M, which was impossible for builders to obtain, threatening to halt new construction in NYC. When Anderson Kill construction attorney Kevin Connolly recognized the problem, he alerted industry leaders who appointed him chair of a taskforce to address the issue. Kevin assembled a team, wrote a letter to the City, and within days the law was revised adopting his recommended changes, saving the NYC construction industry from coming to a standstill. In his spare time, Kevin enjoys playing paintball, where he is also considered a hero, and plans to attend a large game at West Point in October.

1. Kill Bill
Like a giant great white, the NYC Department of Buildings recently
gave a scare to builders with an insurance amendment it issued that
not only upped insurance requirements for new constructions to
$35M (previously $1M), but did so in a way that made the insurance
impossible to get, threatening to bring new building in NYC to a
standstill. When Anderson Kill construction attorney Kevin
Connolly spotted the problem, he alerted NYSBA real estate chair
Ken Block, who immediately appointed Kevin as the new chair of
NYSBA Taskforce on Construction Insurance. Kevin tells us he
assembled a team, penned a letter to the City, and days later, the
law was revised, adopting his recommendation. When this semi-
pro paintballer isn’t almost single-handedly saving the NYC
construction industry, he again plays the hero at Paintball of
Newburg in Plattekill. He tells us he’s been playing the sport, often
on teams of 500, for 17 years, and is planning to go to West Point
for a big game in October.
