Jerdon's Jumping Ant in Karnala Bird SanctuaryAniruddha
Vishal and I stumbled upon a curious ant under the shadow of Karnala Fort in the heavy June downpour of 2012. It happened to be lone Jerdon’s Jumping Ant – Harpegnathos saltator, a rather uniquely beautiful ant recorded from southern India. T. C. Jerdon, its discoverer, named it Harpegnathos (= hyper + gnathos: Latin for ultra-big jaws), and saltator (= saltare: Latin for "leaper" or "dancer"). This was the first time it was recorded within Mumbai and so far north of its previous range.

Abstract: Harpegnathos saltator, Jerdon 1815 (Hymenoptera, Formicidae, Ponerinae) an ant whose known distribution is considered to be restricted in India to Southern Indian states, was first sighted in Karnala Bird Sanctuary, Raigad District, Maharashtra, India. The ant is known to prefer undisturbed forest ecosystems of moist deciduous, scrubland, semi-evergreen and evergreen forests. The presence of this ant so far north from its published range signifies an extension of the range of its distribution.
Abstract:To fulfill our interest, we tried our best to observe the current status of squirrels in Bangladesh. In Bangladesh there are generally 8 species of squirrels which are different in size, color but same in food habit are found. From them, we observed that Pallas’s Squirrel (Callosciurus erythraeus), Irrawady Squirrel (Callosciurus pygerythrus), Three Stripped Palm Squirrel (Funambulus palmarum) and Five stripped Palm Squirrel (Funambulus pennantii) are widely distributed. A large number of variations were observed during winter and summer as we preferred these 2 seasons for our field study. All of them are frugivorous and sometimes feed on grass flowers too. Sometimes taking Insects as food fulfill the necessity of protein.
Entomological Characterisation of Some of the Butterfly Species of Papilionid...ijtsrd
One of the most diversed groups of animals, found abundantly, in all types of environment throughout the world is the ‘Butterflies’. The study and watching of butterflies perhaps is the second interesting pastime for naturalists, next only to ornithology. They belong to the order ‘Lepidoptera, of the phylum ‘Arthropoda’. Amongst more than 100 species found in the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh, due to the rich flora and fauna of the region, some of the most common ones belong to the family Papilionidae. The present article reviews the entomological characterisation of the five common species of Papilionidae butterflies from Bastar division of Chhattisgarh, India.
