CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
Work done in cooperation with James Malloy and David Moelling from Tetra Engineering.

INTRODUCTION
Bionic eyes, also known as artificial or
electronic eyes, refer to a type of visual
prosthetic that aims to restore or enhance vision
in individuals with visual impairments or
blindness. These devices use advanced
technologies to mimic the functionality of the
natural human eye.
4. COMPONENTS OF BIONIC EYES
• Camera
The camera is responsible for capturing visual information from the environment.
• Processor
The processor receives and processes the visual information captured by the camera.
• Electrode Array
The electrode array is implanted in the retina and stimulates the remaining healthy cells to create
visual perception.
4
5. APPLICATIONS
• Restoring Vision:
Providing a sense of vision to those with visual impairments or blindness.
• Eye Conditions:
Addressing issues like age-related macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, and diabetic
retinopathy.
• Independence:
Increasing independence by enhancing mobility and daily activities.
• Assistance in Tasks:
Assisting with daily tasks, such as reading and interacting with surroundings.
5
6. ADVANTAGES

• Enhances or restores vision for those with
visual impairments.
• Improves mobility and daily activities,
fostering independence.
• Contributes to an overall better quality of life
and social engagement.
• Aids in recognizing objects and navigating
surroundings.
7. LIMITATIONS
• Bionic eyes may offer less detailed vision
compared to natural eyes.
• Users may have a limited range of vision.
• Power Consumption.
• Bionic eye technologies can be expensive.
7
8. FUTURE SCOPE
The future of bionic eyes holds promise
for enhanced visual resolution, expanded
field of view, improved power efficiency,
wireless technologies, integration with
augmented reality, color vision,
neuroplasticity, affordability,
