The El fayal-brezal is a plant community located in dry areas of Monteverde, composed of species like fayal, heather, and acebiño trees. It has abundant and diverse wildlife including endemic insects like the splendor beetle and Canary cleopatra butterfly, as well as birds like the turquoise dove and laurel pigeon. However, the cutting of trees in this region has led to the disappearance of much of the associated flora and fauna.
