2. CHLORINE CARE SYSTEM
➤ While chlorine is the most common sanitizer used in pools, it faces stiff
competition from other sanitizer options. Still, it is a valid choice of sanitizer.
➤ Due to the high water temperature, chlorine tablets are not a recommended
sanitizer option for spas. Tablets will dissolve too quickly and result in
excessively high FAC and very low pH.
➤ Commercial spas are an exception and require careful tuning to ensure
the proper level is maintained. Use 1” chlorine tablets only!
➤ A chlorine system would work best in this type of spa:
➤ Uncovered or rarely covered
➤ Positioned in full sunlight
➤ Moderate to heavy use
➤ Any gallonage

3. SPAGUARD® CHLORINATING CONCENTRATE
➤ A fast-acting, quick-dissolving, 99%
sodium dichloro-s-triazinetrione sanitizer
that can also work as an oxidizer:
➤ Kill bacteria
➤ Restore water clarity
➤ Minimal effect on pH
➤ Does not need to be predissolved
➤ Leave cover off for 30 min after applying
➤ Routine maintenance:
➤ Apply 1/2 teaspoon per 100gal of
water to establish and maintain a
chlorine residual of 3-5ppm
➤ Superchlorination:
➤ Apply 1 teaspoon per 100gal of water
during periods of heavy use

4. SHOCK OPTIONS
➤ Either SpaGuard® Enhanced
Shock (chlorinated shock) or
SpaGuard® Spa Shock-Oxidizer
(non-chlorinated shock) may be
used with a chlorine system.
➤ Note that systems using
SpaGuard® Spa Shock-Oxidizer
may need to apply more
SpaGuard® Chlorinating
Concentrate to maintain the
3-5ppm chlorine residual
required.
➤ For both products, leave cover
off for 30 minutes after applying

➤ Destroys organic
contaminants
➤ Apply 1oz per 300 gallons
weekly in regular-use systems
or twice-weekly in heavy use
spas
