This document describes the stages of meiosis II in a cell with 6 chromosomes (2n=6). In metaphase I, homologous chromosomes align on the metaphase plate. In prophase II, the centrioles form a new mitotic spindle. In metaphase II, the chromosomes align again. In anaphase II, kinetochore microtubules pull the chromatids apart. In telophase II, the cell divides through cytokinesis forming two daughter cells each with half the number of chromosomes (n=3).
