Kanwal Prakash Singh gave a presentation at the India Analytics and Big Data Summit 2015 in Mumbai on February 3rd. He discussed how Housing uses data science and analytics to optimize operations like reducing flat duplication, forecasting supply and demand, and route optimization. Specifically, he described how Housing analyzed data to identify issues with low data collector utilization and many travelers between jobs. This led to developing a new branch location identification model and scheduling algorithm that optimally allocated listing requests to data collectors, reducing operational costs by 30% while making the solutions transferable to other delivery systems.

Currently, India accounts for 2.5 per cent of the global Big Data market of $8 billion and is expected to grow to $1 billion by 2015. The average amount Indian companies spent on Big Data in 2012 was $ 9.5 million (about Rs 52 crore), according to a 2013 TCS study.
