Learning objective : to learn and understand the term BIDMAS and how
how to use and answer questions using bidmas
What does bidmas stand for ?
• Bidmas stands for …
• Brackets
• Indices
• Division
• Multiplication
• Addition
• Subtraction
What is bidmas ?
• Bidmas is were you break a question into little parts .
• And you have to answer the question in order of brackets and so on
for example (3+4)x10
Using bidmas brackets/indices
/division/multiplication/addition/subtraction you would answer the
question in order so if the question had brackets in you would answer
the bit with brackets first because that is the first step on bidmas lets
then say there was addition and subtraction in that sum to you would
secondly do addition because it comes before subtraction in the list .
What comes first in bidmas ?
• Brackets come first in bidmas which means you might come across 2
numbers in brackets which shows you would complete that section
first because it comes first in bidmas !
What next ?
• What comes second in bidmas ?
• Well if you diddnt know idiceas comes next in bidmas .indiceas basicly
means squared and squared means a number timesed by itself .
Moving on !
• Next in bidmas is division our all time favourite so if we come across a
division symbol in bidmas it means we divide .
multiplaction
• We then have multiplication which means we do our times tables .
And last but not least we have …
• Subtraction and subtraction will always be completed at the end of
our sum for the reason it is at the very end of bidmas and we basicly
just take away .
