OBJECTIVE OF THE COMPANY 
NPCIL was created with the objective of undertaking the design, construction, 
operation and maintenance of the atomic power stations for generation of 
electricity in pursuance of the schemes and programmes of the Government of 
India under the provision of the Atomic Energy Act 1962. 
The formation of NPCIL was necessitated to give it operational flexibility and 
raise financial resources from the capital market to finance the setting up of the 
projects. The authorised share capital of the company is Rs. 15,000 crores of 
which Rs. 10174 crores is paid up as on 31/03/2012 which is fully subscribed by 
the Government of India.
