5. What is Digital Storytelling? Digital Storytelling is the practice of using computer-based tools to tell stories. As with traditional storytelling, most digital stories focus on a specific topic and contain a particular point of view. However, as the name implies, digital stories usually contain some mixture of computer-based images, text, recorded audio narration, video clips and/or music. Digital stories can vary in length, but most of the stories used in education typically last between two and ten minutes. The topics that are used in Digital Storytelling range from personal tales to the recounting of historical events, from exploring life in one's own community to the search for life in other corners of the universe, and literally, everything in between.

12. The Process Brainstorm Collect/sort/decide which ideas to pursue Research (Save Pictures, Videos, etc) Create Storyboard Build the story Revise/Edit Polish Proof Share Evaluate

13. Brainstorm What is the assignment? Example- The Color Purple theme assignment Discuss theme and potential themes from the novel Will this be in chronological order?? Process? (ex. Life Cycle, Creation of a sculpture, How a Bill Becomes a Law)

14. Research- This takes the most time Search for pictures and/or videos Be sure students create a new folder and SAVE TO THAT SAME FOLDER EVERY TIME!!! The key is to find as many pictures as possible and then sort through later. It is better to have too many pictures than not enough. Some students may already have a song in mind. Have this song file saved in the same folder as well. It is easiest to rip music from a CD or have it transferred from a flash drive.
