The document discusses the health risks of sitting and sedentary lifestyles. It notes that Americans spend 77% of their waking hours sitting, which increases the risks of obesity, diabetes, heart disease and other chronic conditions. Sitting reduces blood flow and muscle activity, slowing metabolism and increasing health risks. The document advocates for providing ergonomic and wellness programs in the workplace to increase productivity and reduce healthcare costs by addressing the risks of sitting disease.
This document discusses low back pain and sciatica. It notes that low back problems are the most common cause of doctor visits each year, with 8 out of 10 people experiencing low back pain at some point. It identifies the top risks as patching, outdated firewalls, BYOD, backup failures, and lack of change control. A failure modes and effects analysis identifies patching as a major risk due to staff turnover and system diversity. The outdated firewall lacks vendor support and regional offices have expired intrusion detection. Recommendations are provided to reduce residual risks through improved patching, new firewalls, BYOD policies, backup solutions, and change control procedures.
The document summarizes issues with the workspace environment for English teachers at a school. It finds that the temperature in the classroom exceeds safe limits and has reached 27 degrees Celsius, causing headaches and sickness. Air circulation is poor due to overcrowding, with no airflow from closed windows. The room is also very unclean, with bacteria growing in appliances and paper/books cluttered everywhere. The lighting is too bright, making it difficult to view computer screens. Furniture like chairs are broken and tables are too low. Overall improvements are needed for temperature control, ventilation, cleanliness, noise reduction, ergonomic chairs and desks to create a healthier workplace.

This document discusses methods for preventing musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) through addressing individual and ergonomic risk factors. It identifies the main individual risk factors as poor work practices, poor health habits, and failure to recognize early warning signs of MSDs. The recommended individual controls include employee education through formal classroom training covering topics like proper warm-up, mechanics and health habits, as well as one-on-one training. A key strategy is early intervention where employees reporting early signs are consulted to reverse risks and prevent injuries through reviewing prevention materials and evaluating work tasks.
Brief description of our live, interactive webinars and health coaching. Affordable - helping employees feel they have numerous health coaches, a support system for camaraderie, and a company that cares.
Sitting for prolonged periods can have serious health consequences and is considered an occupational hazard, especially for knowledge workers who sit most of the day at a computer. Research studies have found associations between excessive sitting and increased risks of cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity, and earlier mortality, even after accounting for physical activity levels. Public health recommendations now include reducing the amount of time spent sitting in addition to increasing physical activity. Simple interventions like sit-stand workstations can help mitigate the harmful effects of prolonged sitting.
Do you want to live longer? Do you want to reduce your chances of developing diseases like cancer, diabetes or obesity? If so, read through this presentation which will outline the science behind the benefits of exercise.

The U.S. spends more on healthcare than any other country but ranks poorly on overall health outcomes. While emergency and crisis care is excellent, 99% of healthcare spending goes to chronic conditions like heart disease and diabetes. The current model focuses on eliminating symptoms rather than achieving optimal health and function. Vertebral subluxations can reduce nervous system function and healing potential, yet are often not caused by pain or symptoms. Chiropractic aims to detect and correct subluxations through spinal adjustments to improve overall health and homeostasis.
This document discusses the overmedication problem in America. It argues that Americans are overly reliant on pharmaceutical medications when their bodies are capable of healing themselves. While medications can be appropriate and helpful in some cases, such as for cancer patients, they are being prescribed too frequently and for conditions that do not require them. This overprescription of medications is costly and can have harmful side effects while delaying the natural healing process. The document advocates for alternative approaches like physical therapy and lifestyle changes to allow the body to heal itself without relying so heavily on medications.
The document discusses obesity trends in the United States from 1989 to 2009 which show increasing rates of obesity over time. It also discusses the high costs of healthcare in the US driven largely by lifestyle choices and chronic diseases. Workplace wellness programs are discussed as a strategy to address these issues but need to be highly effective and supported by organizational leadership to successfully promote a culture of health.

This document discusses various health and fitness topics that affect physical aging, including nutrition, exercise, substance abuse, sexuality, and psychological stress. It notes that overweight and obesity are widespread problems in the U.S. due to environmental pressures and sedentary lifestyles. Regular exercise is recommended to promote cardiovascular health, reduce risks of disease, and improve mental health. Substance abuse like smoking and heavy drinking can damage the body and increase health risks over time. Psychological stress is linked to various health issues and low-income individuals often face greater stress exposure.
Falls are a serious health issue for older adults, being the leading cause of injury and the fifth leading cause of death among those aged 65 and over. While making home safety modifications and exercising can help reduce fall risks to some degree, falling is often due to underlying health issues or a gradual loss of balance abilities. It is important for seniors to receive fall risk screenings through their Annual Wellness Visit with a primary care physician in order to be assessed and receive recommendations to help prevent falls.
This document is the March 2015 issue of the South Suburban Strong newsletter from the South Suburban Chamber of Commerce. It discusses incorporating physical activity into workplace wellness programs. It provides tips for employers, such as starting a step challenge, hosting fitness classes at lunch, and participating in local walks and runs. The newsletter also discusses the benefits of exercise, highlights resources for physical activity programs, and promotes the chamber's Health and Wellness Council mission to support members' wellness initiatives.
This document summarizes 8 steps to wellness presented by Dr. John Friedrichs. The 8 steps are: nutrition, exercise, adequate sleep, stress management, spiritual health, massage therapy, positive affirmations, and nervous system health. Maintaining health requires utilizing natural methods to promote optimal body function rather than just treating disease. Chiropractic care can help the nervous system function properly by correcting vertebral subluxations.
This document discusses the importance of self-care and maintaining a positive outlook. It notes that 97 million Americans are overweight or obese, costing $144.6 billion annually in healthcare costs. Positive thinking is associated with many health benefits, including longer life, lower depression rates, and better coping skills. Studies show that more positive psychological well-being reduces the risk of cardiovascular events. Chronic stress can impact hormone balance and brain chemicals, while positive people tend to live healthier lifestyles. The document advocates practicing gratitude, mindfulness, exercise, and recognizing coworkers to promote a happy workplace.
The document outlines 11 habits that can help people live to 100 years old according to various experts and studies. The habits include: not retiring but staying active in other ways, flossing daily to reduce bacteria in the mouth, getting at least 30 minutes of exercise per day, eating a fiber-rich cereal for breakfast, sleeping 6 hours per night, eating whole foods instead of supplements, managing stress through activities like yoga, living like Seventh Day Adventists who avoid smoking and overindulgence, maintaining daily routines, staying socially connected, and being conscientious.

Forty Ways to Kill Stress Before it Kills YouRay Gebauer
This document summarizes and promotes the book "How to Cure and Prevent Any Disease" by Ray Gebauer. It contains endorsements from medical doctors praising the book. It then discusses the key concepts in the book around stress being the single cause of disease. It identifies five sources of stress: physical, chemical, electromagnetic, deficiency-based, and psychological. It provides examples of each type of stress and argues that excess stress overload leads to health problems.
The document discusses the importance of work for health and well-being. It notes that prolonged absence from work can be detrimental, so physicians should encourage returning to work as soon as it is safely possible. The document also acknowledges that determining specific work capacities can be difficult and inexact, as capacities depend on risk, tolerance and other individual factors.
This document discusses low back pain and sciatica. It notes that low back problems are the most common cause of doctor visits each year, with 8 out of 10 people experiencing low back pain at some point. Low back pain results in more lost work days than any other physical affliction for those under 45. While back pain affects adults, 51% of school children also report suffering from low back pain. The primary causes of back pain are misalignments of the spine putting pressure on nerves, as well as bulging discs. Sciatica, a condition causing leg pain, weakness, or numbness, is often caused by low back problems irritating the sciatic nerve. Common treatments for back pain include drugs, surgery, or physical
The document discusses several topics related to stress and health, including:
1) Stress can cause physical illness, especially when stress is prolonged or combined with unhealthy behaviors, which may increase risks of diseases like heart disease.
2) Fields like health psychology study how stress, emotions, and behaviors influence disease risk and promote health and well-being.
3) Prolonged or chronic stress can have maladaptive effects on health, while moderate short-term stress can sometimes have positive effects.
Cell Therapy Expansion and Challenges in Autoimmune DiseaseHealth Advances
There is increasing confidence that cell therapies will soon play a role in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.

Overall life span (LS) was 1671.7±1721.6 days and cumulative 5YS reached 62.4%, 10 years – 50.4%, 20 years – 44.6%. 94 LCP lived more than 5 years without cancer (LS=2958.6±1723.6 days), 22 – more than 10 years (LS=5571±1841.8 days). 67 LCP died because of LC (LS=471.9±344 days). AT significantly improved 5YS (68% vs. 53.7%) (P=0.028 by log-rank test). Cox modeling displayed that 5YS of LCP significantly depended on: N0-N12, T3-4, blood cell circuit, cell ratio factors (ratio between cancer cells-CC and blood cells subpopulations), LC cell dynamics, recalcification time, heparin tolerance, prothrombin index, protein, AT, procedure type (P=0.000-0.031). Neural networks, genetic algorithm selection and bootstrap simulation revealed relationships between 5YS and N0-12 (rank=1), thrombocytes/CC (rank=2), segmented neutrophils/CC (3), eosinophils/CC (4), erythrocytes/CC (5), healthy cells/CC (6), lymphocytes/CC (7), stick neutrophils/CC (8), leucocytes/CC (9), monocytes/CC (10). Correct prediction of 5YS was 100% by neural networks computing (error=0.000; area under ROC curve=1.0).

Editor's Notes
These are the most common health issues afflicting Americans today.
In a new study, American Cancer Society researchers exploring the association of mortality and sitting time suggest that a sedentary lifestyle actually has specific biological consequences.Researchers surveyed 123,216 healthy people (part of the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Prevention II study in 1992) and found that people who spent their days sitting down have a higher risk of mortality. When combined with a lack of physical activity, the association was even stronger. Women and men who both sat more and were less physically were 94% and 48% more likely, respectively, to die compared with those who reported sitting the least and being most active.Science DailyMore Time Spent Sitting Linked to Higher Risk of Death; Risk Found to Be Independent of Physical Activity LevelJuly 23, 2010During the time period of 1993 to 2006, researchers found that women who sat down for at least 6 hours a day were 37 percent more likely to die when compared to women who sat for 3 hours a day during the time period studied. For the same time period, men who sat down for 6 hours a day were 18 percent more likely to die than their standing counterparts.
The annual cost to American society for obesity is estimated at $147 billion and without intervention, is expected to more than double by 2018Obesity accounts for 2-6% of total health care costs in several developed countries; some estimates put the figure as high as 7% (World Health Organization)Obese employee sick days total approximately 39 million workdays and 63 million doctor visits yearly
While there are a few competitive products in the marketplace to WorkFit, our bigger competition is mindshare. The reality is of eligible employees, less than 40% of those eligible take advantage of all the wellness initiatives offered. You can incentivize till the cows come home. The reality is, the average adult american still spends 30 hours a week, watching t.v.So all the good behaviors that are encouraged, prodded, and promoted in the workplace, aren’t happening once that employee leaves the office. Our message to Corporate America is clear: control what you can actually control to develop a more healthy and productive workforce, and improve your bottom line.An adjustable hydraulic desk, whose size can eat up all the cubicle space that a person is provided, averages $4,000 per desk; The ‘Treadmill desks’ also average $4,000 per person and for some, might actually cause more harm than good due to over-exertion or greater joint pain; Even a good chair and other ergonomic accessories can carry a hefty investment –the chair alone could run $700.
Prior to a meeting double click on the spreadsheet and cater your presentation to the audience you are meeting with. Also see if you can find a graphic of their logo to add to this slode.
