6 Common Myths About Chiropractic Care PaulDonahue16
Chiropractic treatments are very effective at eliminating back pain and other physical discomfort. However, there are many misconceptions circling the topic.
Do you want to know accurate information about chiropractic care? In this article, we will debunk the most common myths about it.
https://advancedchiropractorsgroup.com/7-common-myths-about-chiropractic-care/
Burnout causes many problems in the lives of all people. But physician burnout especially impacts the well-being of patients, caregivers, and practices.
Often not all organizations and practices provide such a good atmosphere for their physicians to work with. And this creates friction between personnel and results in stressing physicians which could directly impact patients’ safety and the quality of care delivery.
The need for increased care coordination is important when it comes to the management of physician burnouts. Tasks like non-clinical which are associated with care coordination can add to the workload of the clinical team.
A great solution for this problem is using a non-clinical team to carefully coordinate care, connect patients with community resources, and complete the non-clinical outreach requirements of value-based care. This allows the clinical team to focus on clinical care alone.

Sedentary and Intellectual Employment Risks

Sedentary and Intellectual Employment
Introduction
Workplaces all around the world are adopting sedentary working lifestyles. Healthcare
management occupation is one. These intellectual jobs require sedentary work. It can possibly be
viewed as a reward for required capabilities. There's pros and cons in intellectual and sedentary
employment. Here we'll mention a few. Healthcare management jobs are becoming only
available to those considered as intellectual. With the employee's intellectuality they're required
to call the shots, and do more sedentary labor than physical. Desk jobs, and office jobs fit the
description. Since they're already in the know they will create and manage plans to make sure a
job is carried out correctly. This is probably more elementary to them than it would be to
someone putting in physical labor, and vice versa. There's someone fit for everything.
If done right it can be the rise in a healthcare setting through quality and quantity. If it fails it can
be a catastrophic domino effect on the company and the employees. The con comes in when
those that hold intellectual and sedentary employment, have rarely, if ever, been on the outside of
the chair or office. It is easy to tell someone what to do. Can the person giving orders also carry
them out? Intellectual employment saves a lot of physical thinking and acting in humans. It
increases room for errors and road blocks. We should enforce physical labor being a requirement
to avoid harming our body and altering the employer's health.
The Sedentary Lifestyle Problem
It is very important for hospitals, or any healthcare setting to inform the employee of the
risks associated with their job description. Sedentary employment offers the benefit of not
standing over 6 hours out of an eight-hour work day. They are also permitted to only lift so many

pounds. To most people this may sound enticing, it sounds like just the job that they’ll choose to
retire with. The disclaimer is that this is not compatible with the human body, interferes with
proper communication in the workplace, and can possibly lead up to lawsuits against the
company. Furthermore, sedentary employment does everything, but promote and contribute to a
healthy lifestyle. It isn’t “America friendly” because it also contributes to weight gain. For the
healthcare company it promotes faster service with the intelligence of technology, and outwit
competitors with being able to perform additional testing. These gadgets can handicap the mind

The complexities of your role as a healthcare leader cannot be overstated. In fact, each year the complexity increases as the weight of administrative tasks increases, meeting patient needs becomes harder, and the overall healthcare environment rapidly shifts.
These, and other, frustrations are widespread and expanding, leading to growing levels of burnout. The symptoms of burnout are varied and complicated, but often include a state of emotional exhaustion, an increase in detachment, and a decrease in productivity. Research shows burnout has negative effects on healthcare systems and ultimately the quality of patient care.1 Moreover, it impacts the health of clinicians and contributes to the loss of practicing physicians.

Mindful Self-Care as the Antidote to Burnout at Work at SXSW '19Michelle Berry
Over a million people miss work daily due to burnout and unmitigated stress. Through facilitator-led conversation, group participation, and hands-on demonstrations, this session explores how mindfulness-based self-care can be an antidote to burnout. In this session, we'll explore why "feeling stressed" differs from “being burned out." Together, we'll unpack the mental, physical, financial, health, personal, and professional impacts caused by burnout. This session also examines how our resistance to self-care is often enmeshed with our desire to rescue others before rescuing ourselves. Participants will learn how adopting easy-to-learn daily rituals for mindful self-care can shift mindsets, enhance moods, and create happy, healthy workplaces. Talk will be presented at SXSW Mar 8 for two sessions one at 11:00 a.m. and the other at 2:00 p.m. both in JM Marriott Rm 201-202.

Job Stress Management Practices among Employees in Bpo Sectorijtsrd
Stress is a part of day to day living of every individual. The students may experience stress in meeting the academic demands, people on the job and business men may suffer stress to reach office in time and to complete the projects on time and even the house hold ladies may experience stress in managing the home affairs and to look for the maid servant. The reasons for the stress differ from person to person. The stress people experience should not be necessarily treated as harmful. An optimum amount of stress can always act as an energizer or motivator and propel people to apply the efforts and complete the work. But a high level of stress can be serious threat to the personality trails of the individual and can cause physiological and social problems. A very pedestrian definition of stress goes something like this "stress is feeling bad due to troubles beyond our control." This includes the only two ideas about stress that are almost universal, that stress is Unpleasant and that it is something that happens. Stress has been defined as the arousal of the mind and body in response to demands made on them. When stressed, the body single mindedly prepares for battle. The adrenal gland speeds up the secretion of adrenaline and the body closes down the 'unnecessary' functions of digestion, tissue repair, and immune system work. There is no single level of stress that is optimal for all people and they are all individual creatures with unique requirements. As such, what is distressing to one may be a joy to another. And even when they agree that a particular event is distressing, people are likely to differ in physiological and psychological responses to it. V. Today’s sedentary lifestyles are impacting the health and academic performance of students. With slashed school budgets and increased pressure surrounding standardized tests, there’s less physical education and recess time, especially in middle and high school. Technology at home and in the classroom increases screen time throughout the day, making sitting more habitual than ever. The collision of these trends is casting a negative shadow on student health and performance.
But there’s it’s not all doom and gloom. Mobile furniture works to counteract sedentary habits to meet the needs of 21st century learners.
Ergotron’s Wellness Market Manager, Betsey Banker, CWWS, CWWPM, and Marci Milius, the learning environment designer for Douglas County School District in Colorado, share how mobile furniture plays a part in creating active learning spaces. You’ll hear how Marci’s district is using LearnFit® and WorkFit® adjustable standing desks, as well as other factors central to a modern and innovative learning environment. Together, they cover how the right furniture offers flexibility and autonomy to transform students from classroom fixtures to active learners, helping improve focus, collaboration and academic success.
By listening to the recorded webinar, participants will learn about:
• The merits of an open environment
• Modern pedagogy around learning spaces
• Accessible technology and collaboration
• How movement-friendly furniture fits into open learning space design

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

This is a question from Ergotron’s recent JustStand Index report.
Ergotron asked over 1000 knowledge workers about their computer habits, and one of the questions asked whether or not individuals had requested a sit-stand workstation from their employer.
Of the 16% of respondents that actually had the courage to ask their employer for a sit-stand solution, 33% were outright denied.
I imagine that cost concerns drove some of those denials, as well as a lack of understanding for the value proposition of sit-stand and physical activity during the day.
So that’s what we’re going to discuss today.
Facilitator notes:
So why is standing such a focus?
We’ve known for a long time that exercise promotes wellness, but it’s in the last 20 years or so that the research has really started to accumulate about physical inactivity, in part because of the increase in sedentary jobs.
We’re learning that the risks of inactivity are independent from exercise and much greater than any of us anticipated.
Facilitator notes:
Physical inactivity is the fourth leading risk factor for global mortality and is responsible for nearly 1 in 10 deaths in the US alone.
For the first time in history our own lifestyle choices turn out to be more deadly than infectious diseases. What we eat and how much we move are the crucial factors that will determine both the quality and quantity of our lives.
Facilitator notes:
According to a survey conducted by the American Osteopathic Association (demographics similar to JustStand Index), 2 in 3 office workers have experienced physical pain in the last six months.
The most common pain areas include shoulder, neck, wrist and low back. Note that low back pain and neck pain rank the highest.
Back pain (BP) in workers 40 to 65 years of age costs employers an estimated $7.4 billion/year.
If these issues are present, it’s impacting your employees ability to perform.
Employees with low back pain not only cost more, but they are more distracted and less productive than employees without pain.
Even if the issues aren’t present, a sedentary work environment is setting the stage for future problems. Not only are there cumulative effects for aging workforce, but we’re also looking at a future work force, today’s youth, that are growing up with technology and not necessarily adopting the best habits. They are going to join the workforce with 10 to 20 years of posture abuse, basically starting off with pre-existing conditions that your current workforce took years to develop.

A sedentary workstation will also impact our mood states.
Sitting 6+ hours at work increases risks of mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression. And a study published in the Journal of Occupational & Environmental Medicine found that depression was highly associated with work limitations in time management (odds ratio [OR] = 2.05), interpersonal/mental functioning (OR = 2.50), and overall output (OR = 2.24).
When considering the numbers,
Stress alone is estimated to cost 200-300 billion a year in lost productivity.
According to one study, workers reporting high stress were 8.6 percent ($413) more costly. (Goetzl)

The Association of Medical Conditions and Presenteeism:
http://journals.lww.com/joem/Abstract/2004/06001/The_Association_of_Medical_Conditions_and.5.aspx
A self-reported measure of four domains of work impairment based on the Work Limitations Questionnaire was completed by 16,651 employees of a large financial services corporation. Using a multivariate model to control for coexisting conditions, age, and gender, significant relationships were observed between medical conditions and patterns of impaired work performance. Depression was highly associated with work limitations in time management (odds ratio [OR] = 2.05), interpersonal/mental functioning (OR = 2.50), and overall output (OR = 2.24). Arthritis (OR = 1.56) and low back pain (OR = 1.32) were associated with physical function limitations. These same two conditions were associated with limitations in mental/interpersonal functioning but with low back pain having the higher odds ratio (OR = 1.54 vs. 1.22). These results suggest that worksite interventions (eg, disease management programs) should be tailored to the unique effects observed with specific medical conditions. More targeted programs could have important benefits for productivity in the workplace.

Texas A&M Study:
Objective vs. subjective data collection.
Six months, nearly 200 employees in a call center, two job categories (health advisors and clinical advisors). Results: Users of stand-capable desks were ~45% more productive on a daily basis compared to their seated counterparts. Further, productivity of the stand-capable desk users significantly increased over time, from ~23% in the first month to ~53% over the next six months. Finally, this productivity increase was similar for employees across both job categories.
Conclusions: These findings suggest important benefits of employing stand-capable desks in the work force to increase productivity.
Facilitator notes:
An extension of the individual impact is the culture impact.
The JustStand index reports that the majority of employees don’t want to sit all day at the office.
Responding to employee needs adds value and can help strengthen culture, pride, trust and commitment.
Plus, sit-stand workstations are a very visible way to demonstrate your commitment to employee health and wellness.
That helps you attract and retain employees.
Facilitator notes:
And there you have it, the science behind physical inactivity, the business case for reducing sedentary time, and the health and performance benefits of sit-stand furniture.
While researchers strive to establish a precise dose/response relationship in the so-called physical activity and health equation, we are at least certain that sedentary time at work is not an insurmountable challenge.
