GAME PREVIEW: BEMIDJI AT COLORADO
The Axemen will play the Ice for the first time in the two team’s history.
Bemidji, Minn. – The Bemidji Axemen will travel to Colorado this Saturdayas they take on the Ice for the first time in the teams’ short
histories.The game will begin at8 p.m. central time at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland,Colorado.The two teams have both
won two games this season.The Ice defeated Billings and Wichita Falls while the Axemen defeated Billings and Green Bay.
Colorado is coming offa 41-34 loss to the Tri-Cities Fever. Their offense averages 237.9 total yards per game which is third highestin
the IFL while their 179.8 average passing yards per game is also third in the league.The Ice boastthe second bestpass defe nse in
the IFL by only allowing 139.5 yards per game and have intercepted sixpasses.
Colorado’s passing attack is led by quarterback Brandon Mitchell who has gone 91-154 for 1,050 passing yards and 20 passing
touchdowns.Mitchell averages 150 passing yards per game,fifth mostin the IFL. Mitchell also leads the team with 251 rushin g yards
and seven rushing touchdowns.RoyRoundtree is the leading receiver for the Ice, bringing in 30 receptions for 416 yards and five
touchdowns.Roundtree’s average of59.4 receiving yards per game is fourth highestin the league while Kyle Kaiser has the fi fth most
receiving touchdowns in the league with nine.The leading tackler for Colorado is Armogen Walker who has 62 total tackles and 4.5
tackles for a loss.
Bemidji is coming offa 55-28 loss to the Green Bay Blizzard where their offense stalled because ofa shoulder injuryto quarterback
Dante Perez which sidelined him for the whole game.The Axemen offense averages 221.6 yards per game which is led by their third
ranked rushing attack that averages 77.1 yards per game. The Bemidji offense also has the second mostfirstdowns in the league
with 174.Bemidji leads the IFL with 93 penalties for a total of 801 yards.
Dante Perez is day-to-day with a shoulder injurythat he suffered early in the first quarter of lastweekend’s game.Perezwould sitout
the restof the game buthas gone 27-42 for 302 yards and seven touchdown passes during the season. Mulku Kalokoh leads Bemidji
with 322 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns.Kalokoh also leads the team with 1,001 all-purpose yards (631 return,322 rushing and 48
receiving) and four return touchdowns.Josh Jarboe has hauled in a team high 53 receptions for 590 receiving yards and seven
touchdowns.Jarboe averages 65.6 receiving yards per game which is the third highest average in the league. Tony Grimes leads the
team 49 total tackles while Jory Johnson leads the team with 6.5 tackles for a loss.Johnson and Scooter Rogers both lead the team
with three interceptions.
