How is cloud computing changing how we track and control inventory and production.
This presentation by my friend Peter Green of BellHawk discuss this.
Use Cases for Big Data and the Connected EnterpriseESE, Inc.
This presentation showcases uses for big data in maintaining and improving production quality, identifying/quantifying opportunities for cost reduction, and a walk-through of a Connected Enterprise application.
The Vaisala DL2000 data logger provides highly accurate and stable measurement of temperature and humidity, with an optional analog input channel for other parameters. Along with superior accuracy, the DL2000 data loggers record and store data at the point of measurement ensuring that no data is ever lost to power or network downtime.
The resources of information systems like hardware, software, and data, need to be protected preferably by build in control to assure their quality and security.
When it comes to improving process efficiency for E-Business Suite, customers are often faced with many options: mobile apps, barcoding on various mobile devices, RFID, and so on. This presentation shares CSX and BullsEye’s experience on using mobile technologies to achieve the desired process efficiency improvement, including some less glamorous yet powerful solutions.
CSX will use the following case studies to share its corporate goals for investing in these projects, its process for solution evaluation, the implementation experience, the process efficiency achieved, and lessons learned.
1. Mobile barcode solution at 10 mechanical shops nationwide
2. RFID solution for automated asset tracking at the coal pier
3. Offline-enabled mobile barcode solution for remote work-order equipment trailers
Using CSX and other customer case studies, we will also provide guiding principles and tips on how to select the most appropriate mobile and other hardware devices for optimal efficiency gains while minimizing total cost of ownership.
1. Handheld barcode/RFID scanners
2. Vehicle mounts
3. Ruggedized vs. consumer grade tablets
4. Other less glamorous but powerful options
Last but not least, we will discuss factors beyond technology that contribute to successful process improvement initiatives such as corporate sponsorship, management support, and overcoming users’ initial fear and resistance to change.
Eliminate errors from your mail with 2D barcodesPitney Bowes
File based processing and 2D barcodes can open the door to capabilities that will help you add value to individual mail pieces. An example would be to add full color inline envelope printing for personalized information to the outside of each envelope. Another would be to add personalized QR codes to each document before printing. There are a lot of interesting options and the list keeps growing. Simple workflow issues such as being able to answer the question “Did we process everything we were expecting to process?” are an immediate win. You can eliminate the time currently spent manually reconciling jobs and making sure that everything happened as expected. You can add the ability to automatically remove any spoiled mail pieces from your mail finishing run, and if required, initiate an automated reprint process.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
