The author had to postpone her wedding due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown. She supported her fiancé, who is a health worker helping with the pandemic response. In her blog post, she discusses how they made the decision to delay the wedding to protect the health of their family and friends and allow her fiancé to focus on his important work. She remains optimistic that they can reschedule and still have the celebration once it is safe to do so.

1. BEING POSITIVE
What can be more positive when a marriage is fixed and the groom is busy serving the people
because he is a health worker, so have to work on this pandemic and bride has to leave him for
work without any hesitation and supporting him to do best with his work. Yes that’s me and I
had to postpone my wedding because of this lockdown without thinking much but keeping in
mind about fighting against the pandemic.

A POSTPONDED WEDDING TALE

When it comes to big life events, weddings represent a culmination of the things that think
about the most: Relatives, family, friends, love, the past, the present, the future—all wrapped
up into one beautiful day. Ultimately, a celebration of what it means to love and be loved by
people near and far. A sort of get together, a day of huge planning’s and arrangements. A Big
day of life….
Like many other from Facebook to Whatsapp and Whatsapp friend to a boyfriend, things
changed. A very simple relationship with a simple guy. I still remember the day we met for the
first time. We dated, had pizza, we exchanged gifts, he came till my hostel to lift me. Those
cute moments are so young in my mind. Things didn’t change, same excitement same
attachment lead us to think about our marriage and create our own little world.
After a successful 4 years of relationships and a year of happily engaged life, finally we were
counting days for officially being called couple (Mr and Mrs). Our wedding planned on 16Th
April (Nikah), bride side reception on 14th April,2020 and groom side on 18th April,2020, As I
was just celebrating my bachelorette and was busy with shopping’s. I got the news of lock
down and we along with our family discussed about the issue. We were okay with it because
only lockdown can save us. At the very moment we took the decision of postponing our
marriage because “zinda rahenge tab na shadi hogi”.

2. From the beginning of our wedding planning, Sunny and me always had two main goals. “One,
we wanted the most important people we loved to be able to be a part of it. worrying my
grandmother in the highest risk age group and his paternal elder uncle.”
“Our second goal was that we wanted our wedding to be a happy, easy experience for our
friends and family”. Don’t know why but most of our relatives were pretty much curious and
excited about our wedding. Also, must have to mention about our friends, truly speaking our
friend circle is way too big and so all were thinking of an opportunistic get together. One of
the interesting things is that I’m the first one about to get marry from my higher secondary
schoolmates’ batch so anyone can guess the excitement of my friends.
Our parents almost invited all the guests, we already distributed the cards, everything was set
right from photographer, cook, vendors, sweets, decorations, makeup artist etc. Few of our
friends already booked their tickets. But we had to stop after government’s decision,we respect
it. Also communicated guests and vendors. Thank God that we didn’t ordered the non-veg
stuffs and the groceries.
I think everyone knows that the right thing now is to focus on health right now. There are
people out there dying, there are doctors and nurses fighting tough battles every day, the least
we can do is delay and stay home, follow the lockdown and spent few more days with family.
Also, Sunny himself is busy with his job as he is also a health worker, what I can do is just pray
from home and to support at my level best. It’s not just us but many hundreds of couples from
around the world. I would like to mention one thing that planning’s will still be the same only
the date will be different, everyone will still enjoy. Stay tuned. Till then take care everyone.

Yes I'm worried ! Worried because of this virus ,it ruined everything and me being a
Microbiologist unable to do anything but just pray and search for recent updates,,,I'm home
and I'm safe...It makes me happy to leave my man for work..I'm worried every second for
him..feels sad that when young boys of your age are locked in home and you have to be
outside,but feels happy that you are working for our society,working for people.. I can see you
receiving calls at 2:00 am, I can see you going immediately to the screening centre at 2:30 am,I

3. can see you requesting autowala for letting you reach your alloted area,I can see you dealing
with people coming outside of Assam,I can see you working day and night,I can see you
returning back from work and washing your cloths,apron,shoes by yourself, I can see you
working together with police for tracking,I can see you going for grocery shopping and police
personals asking you why are you outside,even after you are done with duty hours and tired,I
can see you cooking food for yourself may be not timely but never skipping your
breakfast,Lunch and dinner just to boost your immunity against the virus...yes! This job is not
easy..it's not easy working outside fearlessly even after knowing the dangerous consequences
and working for the people and what I can do for you is just pray and pray,,remember as you
are always supportive and stand by my side whenever, however I needed you,I'm always there
for you supporting too..Proud of you,,Salute to you my boy,salute to your colleagues...keep
your PPE with you...
It's not just story of my fiance but also other health workers and other personals on duty
whoever is outside for us...
A huge round of applause to each and every person who are outside for us,whether it may be a
police personal,Doctors,Nurses,all the health workers ,bankers,delivery boys and everyone on
duty,dear workers please take care and proper precautions....what we people can do is be inside
because they are outside for us even after knowing the dangerous consequences,they are
humans too...help them to help us..please strictly follow lockdown..Government is really taking
a great step and hats off to it..
