Honesty is being truthful to yourself and others. If you are dishonest, you will lose friends and trust as people will not believe you. When the author was in Grade 2 and wrote on a table, they admitted to it when confronted by the teacher instead of lying. They felt okay about the sanction because they knew honesty was the right thing to do. The author will live with honesty by always telling the truth, never lying, and encouraging others to do the same, such as admitting fault if they are asked who did something. Honesty allows one to always feel good because it is the right thing to do.
