The Begin With ME! project aimed to demonstrate that integrating appropriate technology tools into writing instruction can help all students, including those with special needs or at risk of failure, become better writers. It also sought to show that with proper training and support, teachers can incorporate technology to support students, and that supporting struggling students in general education can be an effective and replicable way to serve at-risk and special needs learners. Data was collected before and after on student writing samples, surveys, and teacher comfort levels. Results indicated increases in word counts, quality of writing for struggling students, and teacher comfort with technology and supporting diverse learners.
